    Family-run community with caring staff

I'm very satisfied with this family-run community - the staff are attentive, upbeat and professional, therapists are caring, rooms are clean and spacious, and the homemade meals are amazing. There are plenty of activities and special celebrations, and I feel peace of mind; I'd recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews describe a facility with a mix of clear strengths and recurring operational weaknesses. Positive accounts emphasize a supportive admissions process, compassionate nursing and therapy staff, and a generally effective PT/OT program that achieves measurable improvement for many patients. Families appreciate on-site conveniences such as laundry, private and spacious rooms, and engaging activities including social hour. Administrative staff and some clinical team members are described as friendly, efficient, and willing to follow through on care plans.

At the same time, a number of consistent concerns emerge. Staffing appears uneven, particularly overnight, with delays in CNA response times and limited night-shift coverage affecting perceived timeliness of basic assistance. Communication gaps between staff and families — including inconsistent updates from social work or nursing and difficulty reaching staff by phone — contribute to frustration and hinder care coordination. Several accounts raise safety-related items: medication-management processes and verification practices are questioned, and there are reports suggestive of inadequate transfer-safety protocols that have contributed to falls or the need for multiple staff during transfers.

Sanitation and hygiene practices are another area of mixed feedback. While some reviewers describe a clean, well-maintained environment, others identify sanitation lapses, inconsistent bathing schedules, and odor concerns in certain areas. Dining experiences are similarly variable — some residents praise the food and describe home-style meals and special celebrations, while others find meal options limited or note inconsistent quality. Activities programming and therapy are commonly cited as strengths, but discharge planning and follow-up coordination with families and outside providers are frequently mentioned as needing improvement.

Operational and management themes include reports of personal items going missing or being mishandled and at least one allegation of staff theft coupled with management unresponsiveness. Communication systems such as in-room phones and call buttons are described as unreliable in some accounts, and there are concerns about billing transparency for activities and charges. A state complaint was referenced in one account, indicating that at least one serious concern has been escalated externally.

For prospective residents and families, the pattern suggests that the facility can deliver strong rehabilitative services and attentive, compassionate care from many staff members, but outcomes appear sensitive to staffing levels, shift, and individual team coordination. Visitors should inquire specifically about overnight staffing, medication verification protocols, transfer-assistance procedures, infection-control practices, personal-item policies, and how the facility handles family communication and discharge planning during tours and pre-admission conversations.

About Rennes Health & Rehab Center - De Pere

Rennes Health & Rehab Center - De Pere sits at 250 S. Ninth Street in De Pere, Wisconsin, and works as a for-profit, corporation-owned skilled nursing facility with 137 beds and 32 certified beds available for June 2025. The center takes Medicaid and Medicare, offering both short-term and long-term care for older adults, with plenty of options including private and semi-private rooms, walk-in showers, individual thermostats, cable TV, Wi-Fi, and private phones in rooms, which you can tell makes daily life a little easier to manage. Trained staff and full-time registered nurses are there day and night, helping with personal care, medication, and regular health needs, so you don't have to worry about being alone if you need help, and you always see someone around ready to lend a hand.

The place is big on providing meals made by a professional chef, and the kitchen pays attention to any special diets, so people can eat well no matter what their needs are, and you usually find home-cooked options on the menu because comfort matters. You'll see transportation and parking on-site, and they help with housekeeping, laundry, and even move-in coordination, so settling in doesn't become confusing or hard. You know there's a fitness room, a wellness room, a movie theater, and they kept a library, game room, and arts room to let you keep your mind busy or enjoy calm afternoons. Outdoors, people can use walking paths, gardens, and gazebos, and the staff organizes outdoor programs to help everyone stay active and spend time in the fresh air.

The community keeps seniors busy and engaged through daily scheduled activities, community events, and chances for residents to run their own groups, and they include religious services for those who want them. The skilled nursing center covers everything from physical, occupational, and speech therapies, to wound care, IV therapy, Vital-Stim for swallowing problems, and PWR! (Parkinson's Wellness Recovery) programs, which are a real help if someone's had a stroke or needs extra rehab. Dementia care is a big part of their services, with programs shaped for Alzheimer's and memory loss, and specialized staff on duty all the time.

Rennes Health & Rehab Center works as part of the Rennes Group, so it follows the group's focus on personalized care and offers things like move-in coordination and discharge planning, so coming and going is organized thoughtfully. Families get to use private spaces for visits, and there are beautician and barber services on hand, which help keep up routines that matter. The staff continues to grow through programs like CNA training, and they keep a 24-hour call system for safety. The facility sits near hospitals, clinics, and shops, so appointments and errands stay close by, and the community sponsors signature events and group outings all year round. There's also hospice, respite care, and support for people coming for short-term rehab before heading back home, so you see they handle a mix of needs, all in the same location. Overall, the center tries to make life manageable and comfortable without making big promises, and everything circles back to steady, attentive care each day.
