    Warm caring family-like assisted living

I'm very pleased with Somerset - the staff are genuinely caring and long-tenured, and the owners/management are responsive and know residents by name. The facility is clean and beautiful, meals are excellent, and there are daily activities and regular outings that keep residents engaged. Nurses and aides go above and beyond and the move-in was smooth. I recommend this warm, family-like assisted living.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment: The reviews of Somerset Assisted Living are overwhelmingly positive and consistently emphasize high-quality personal care, a warm family-like community, and well-maintained facilities. Multiple reviewers highlight the caring nature of staff at all levels — nurses, resident assistants, kitchen staff, maintenance, and leadership — and repeatedly describe staff as attentive, compassionate, and willing to go above and beyond. The dominant tone across summaries is strong satisfaction: residents and families report smooth transitions into the community, excellent communication from administrators and owners, and a pervasive sense that residents are treated like family.

Care quality and staffing: Reviewers consistently praise the direct care team and nursing staff for responsiveness, knowledge, and individualized attention. Several comments single out nurses and resident assistants as caring and supportive during difficult situations, and multiple mentions of long-tenured staff and 24-hour coverage reinforce the perception of reliable care. Leadership and management are also highlighted positively — the Facility Administrator (named by reviewers) and owners are described as engaged, communicative, and personally involved with residents. This combination of hands-on leadership and longstanding direct-care staff contributes to reviewers’ impressions of a stable, resident-focused environment.

Facilities and housekeeping: The physical environment receives high marks: reviewers describe the facility as exceptionally clean, well-kept, and attractive, with ‘‘picture-perfect’’ lawns, seasonal decorations, a walking path, outdoor patio and front porch seating. Apartment-like living arrangements and included services such as laundry, housekeeping, and clean linens are repeatedly noted. Maintenance is described as helpful and responsive, contributing to a smooth move-in and ongoing comfort for residents.

Dining and personal services: Dining is a clear strength in the reviews. Multiple reviewers describe the meals as delicious, mention ‘‘heavenly’’ dinner smells, and say residents enjoy daily dining. The kitchen staff are characterized as friendly and competent, and the facility is praised for offering three meals a day plus snacks. Personal care and grooming services — weekly hair appointments, manicures and other salon-type services — are also called out as valuable, enhancing resident quality of life.

Activities, outings and community life: The activity program is broad and active, with regular offerings such as bowling, horse-racing games, bingo, exercise classes, music, bible study, decorating/seasonal events, motivational speakers, and singing. Regular outings (van trips for shopping and lunches, trips to Dollar General) and paid-for lunches are mentioned as meaningful opportunities for engagement. Reviewers emphasize a lively activities crew and a social atmosphere where residents care for each other, creating a warm, home-like environment.

Limitations and patterns to note: The primary concrete limitation mentioned across reviews is that Somerset is an assisted-living-only community and does not provide on-site memory care; at least one family noted that when a resident needed higher-level memory care they had to relocate. Beyond that, reviewers offered very few criticisms, which suggests uniformly high satisfaction among the sampled reviewers. That uniform positivity is itself a pattern worth noting: while very encouraging, the near-absence of negative feedback means there is limited public commentary on potential issues such as pricing, wait times, clinical complexity handling, or long-term outcomes for residents who develop higher acuity medical needs.

Bottom line: Reviews portray Somerset Assisted Living as a well-run, clean, and community-oriented assisted living community with an engaged staff and leadership team, strong dining and activity programs, and routines and amenities that promote residents’ comfort and social engagement. Families repeatedly recommend the community for assisted-living needs, though prospective residents and families who anticipate the need for specialized memory care should plan accordingly since that service is not available on-site.
