    Clean, caring, affordable independent living

I'm very pleased with this independent-living community - exceptionally clean and recently remodeled, staffed by caring, accommodating people who go above and beyond, serving three home-cooked meals daily, offering plenty of activities (bingo, music, movies), on-site services and transportation to appointments, and affordable, homey apartments with kitchenettes; I'd recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Pleasant Villa presents as an independent-living community with a clear emphasis on a home-like, small-community atmosphere. Cost is frequently cited as a strength; many families describe the monthly rates as affordable and competitive. The facility offers standard independent-living conveniences — kitchenettes in apartments, on-site laundry, barber/beauty salon, and three meals daily — and several reviews highlight recently refurbished common areas and generally well-maintained communal spaces.

Staff and management are a consistent positive theme. Multiple reviewers praise a hands-on director/owner and describe staff as friendly, attentive, and accommodating. Operational strengths noted include medication reminders, assistance with errands and appointments when provided, weekly laundry and housekeeping, and staff willingness to help residents settle in. Dining receives strong marks from many families: reviewers describe balanced, home-cooked meals with reasonable variety and the option for seconds.

Activities are present but modest in scope. Programming typically includes bingo, movies, mild exercise classes, piano/singing and occasional family events; several reviewers found the activity roster engaging for a small independent-living community, while others felt the offering was limited and would benefit from broader variety. Transportation support appears to be available in some cases (e.g., rides to medical appointments), but availability and consistency of transportation were described as uneven.

Facilities show mixed impressions. Reviewers alternately describe the building as clean and recently refreshed or as an older structure that needs renovation. Common operational issues noted include aging finishes, carpet and bathroom updates needed in some apartments, and elevator performance concerns. Sanitation impressions vary: some accounts call the facility exceptionally clean, whereas others raise odor and cleanliness issues in particular areas. Apartment sizes are generally characterized as small but functional; parking and entranceway logistics were mentioned as occasional inconveniences.

Care and safety considerations are nuanced. Many accounts reflect respectful staff–resident interactions, medication reminders, and attentive assistance appropriate for independent living. However, there are also accounts expressing concerns about staff conduct, supervision, and overall care quality; a small number of serious allegations about care and supervision were also mentioned and should be explored directly with management and during an in-person visit. The facility does not emphasize on-site clinical nursing services, so prospective residents who require regular nursing care should confirm care capabilities and transfer protocols.

Overall, Pleasant Villa is consistently described as an affordable, community-oriented independent-living option with strong interpersonal staff qualities and well-regarded dining. The principal trade-offs are an older building shell with variable maintenance and sanitation impressions, limited activity breadth, occasional transportation and elevator limitations, and variability in perceived staff supervision and clinical support. Prospective residents and family members should schedule an in-person tour, inspect apartments and common areas for current condition and odor control, review the transportation schedule and medical-assistance policies, and ask management about recent renovations, staffing levels, and any documented sanitation or inspection results to ensure fit with care and lifestyle needs.

    About Pleasant Villa Retirement Home

Pleasant Villa Retirement Home sits in Pleasant Grove, US, as a family-owned and operated place for seniors who want independent living and good care, where folks can pick from studio or one-bedroom apartments in a quiet, beautiful setting, and can bring their own furniture or even pets under 25 pounds for a small fee, and there's a golden retriever around who loves people and children alike, and most days feel pretty peaceful with the staff keeping things super clean and in good shape, and there's always someone around 24 hours a day in case help is needed, plus three home-cooked meals are served every day and there's always a vegetarian option if wanted, and you don't have to cook or clean because meals, apartment cleaning, and laundry services happen every week, but if you want to do your own laundry there's a free laundromat open all the time, and you can still have your own washer and dryer too if you want one in your apartment. Residents pick unfurnished or furnished rooms, from studios to large one-bedrooms, all with cable TV, WiFi, phone hookup, handicap-access doors and showers, their own climate settings, storage, kitchen space, and what's nice is folks can bring their own things to make the place feel like home. The community has no-smoking spaces indoors and has an outdoor spot for smoking, and it's pet-friendly with a small monthly fee and pet rules. Pleasant Villa gives rides to doctor appointments, the hospital, shopping, and lets residents drive themselves too, and parking is available. There's easy access to shopping, restaurants, parks, and medical clinics.

Meals are cooked fresh every day and there's a café-snack area if someone wants a little extra, and there are daily activities Monday through Friday, like Bible study, parties, art and educational classes, movies, music, games in the game room, fitness classes, offsite trips, prizes, and something for just about everyone, and there's even a hair salon, library, computer room, chapel with chaplain visits, devotional services, and a lounge, plus guests can stay over if needed. There's a community room, outdoor spaces, and the whole place feels friendly, almost like visiting family, and people describe it as having Southern hospitality, with ministry visits and church services adding a spiritual piece for those who want it. Medical services such as medication management, assisted living, Alzheimer's care, home care, short-term respite stays, and even support for men or women only are provided, and for those who need extra help, there's an Enhanced Services Package for a fee that covers daily medicine reminders, emergency call pendant, and weekly laundry. Residents' unique needs and choices matter here, and the staff tries to support everyone while maintaining their independence and privacy. Nurses and caregivers help out but outside caregivers can visit too. Utilities like electricity, water, gas, pest control, trash, 136 channels of cable TV, and WiFi are all included, and there's free transportation and a podiatrist who visits. Folks can enjoy a warm atmosphere, and the staff hopes residents feel loved, peaceful, and find joy in daily life, whether it's with friends in the lounge or out in the gardens. Pleasant Villa Retirement Home has a 4.2 rating based on 19 reviews and asks for a $700 entrance fee, with month-to-month rent and no long contracts required.
