    Caring staff, spotless family home

I placed my mother here and I'm very pleased - the family-run home is beautiful with roses out front, spotless, and efficiently run. The staff are intelligent, kind and conscientious, truly family-like; there are two-person rooms, a hoist, communal meals, and Saturday music therapy/band performances. Her care and the pleasant atmosphere give me confidence in this place.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Feedback paints a generally positive picture of an intimate, family-run residence with strengths in staff responsiveness, day-to-day operations, and a home-like atmosphere. Many comments highlight staff as conscientious, knowledgeable, and caring, and they describe the facility as pleasant and well maintained in multiple areas. The setting is described as attractive by some, with landscaping features noted positively.

Care and staff: The staff are consistently described as kind, intelligent, and attentive, creating a family-like tone for residents and visitors. Staff conduct and operational efficiency are strengths cited by several observers; families report that caregivers are engaged and that routine needs are handled promptly. The availability of transfer equipment such as a hoist supports residents with mobility needs.

Dining and activities: Dining is presented as communal and sociable, with reviewers noting that residents are generally satisfied with meal service. A common suggestion is a desire for greater menu variety. Programming includes regular music offerings โ€” for example, music therapy on weekends and occasional live band performances โ€” which contribute to a social and therapeutic environment.

Facilities and safety: Many comments describe clean, well-kept interior spaces, but a minority of feedback indicates variability in cleanliness and sanitation standards and raises concerns about the exterior appearance and perceived safety of certain areas. Smoking on the property was also noted; this suggests the facility either permits on-site smoking or has relaxed enforcement of smoking restrictions, which may affect odor and outdoor-use comfort for some residents.

Management and notable patterns: The facility's family-operated model appears to produce a personal, home-like culture and efficient daily routines. That model is associated with positive staffโ€“family relationships and consistent meal service, though it may also correlate with variability in physical maintenance and grounds management. Prospective residents and families should weigh the strong interpersonal care and programming against the noted variability in cleanliness, exterior appearance, and on-site smoking policy when deciding whether this setting matches their priorities.

    About Eclc Guest Home

Eclc Guest Home sits at 2279 Avalon St in Costa Mesa, California, and provides care for elderly residents who need daily help or memory care, and it only has 6 licensed beds, so things stay quiet and personal, and folks often know each other and the staff well, which gives it a kind of family feel, and when you're looking at what they offer, you'll see they have assisted living, memory care, independent living, adult day services, home care, skilled nursing, respite care, hospice care, and even long-term housing, which means seniors can stay as their needs change. The place is called a "Guest Home," and that means it focuses mainly on residential care for the elderly, and the whole atmosphere tends to be less like a hospital, and more like a comfortable house, with basic amenities like housekeeping and daily meals, plus regular help with personal care and medication, and the building's free of long hallways so folks with memory problems don't get turned around, and there's a private, gated community so people feel safer. They have communal living rooms and spaces where residents spend most of their day, and there's always someone around to help, as staff provide 24-hour support, especially for seniors with memory issues, and you'll notice caregivers are trained for memory care. They accept people recovering from illness or surgery too, and you'll find families bringing loved ones for adult day services, or just to get some relief for a week or two, so it's flexible, though they don't take Medicare and they're not certified by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The area has about 50,000 people nearby, and Costa Mesa is known for its modest median income, but these guest homes, like Eclc Guest Home, focus on keeping costs lower than a full-time nursing home, and while there are other places like Heart To Heart Care Home, Star Dust Home, and the Seraphim in the area, Eclc tries to fit in by meeting each senior's particular needs, whether someone wants independence or more nursing attention. The rooms and common spaces are designed to be comfortable for seniors, the staff helps everyone find the right arrangement for care, and people can stay for as long as they need, because the setup supports aging in place, so you don't have to worry as needs change. You might see some residents join activities together, some get rehab therapy if it's needed, others rest quietly, and there's always that steady feeling of community, with a dependable, friendly crew making sure the seniors are as safe and comfortable as possible, and the options stretch all the way from independent living through full memory care.
