    Beautiful home, significant safety concerns

I liked the beautiful home and several very kind caregivers, and the owner was helpful, but my stay was mixed. Management and staffing are weak - high turnover, outsourced services billed extra, crowded/dirty common areas, and maintenance neglected (burned-out bulbs). I personally saw meds left in a resident's bin, experienced privacy/HIPAA lapses, and learned of residents hospitalized after falls; meals were mostly salads/frozen. At $6-7K/month it feels overpriced - lovely setting and some wonderful staff, but significant safety and management concerns to be aware of.

    Summary of reviews

The collection of reviews presents a mixed picture: the physical setting and several frontline caregivers are identified positively, while operational and clinical concerns are repeatedly raised. The facility's cottage-style residences and homelike aesthetic are viewed as assets, and some direct-care staff are described as kind and helpful. These positive elements contrast with recurring themes about inconsistent care processes and administrative practices.

Care quality and safety are areas of concern. Reviewers describe incidents that indicate weaknesses in medication-management and in fall-prevention or transfer-safety practices, which in some cases have led to higher-acuity care needs. These descriptions point to inconsistent clinical oversight and a need for stronger safety protocols, standardized medication controls, and clearer communication with families about clinical incidents and follow-up actions.

Staffing and management patterns appear uneven. High turnover and staffing inconsistency are cited alongside praise for individual caregivers, suggesting variability in staff experience and training. Several comments also raise concerns about administrative priorities and financial practices — including additional charges for outsourced services and a perception that costs do not align with the level of services provided. There are also allegations of privacy breaches; these indicate a need to review and reinforce information-security and HIPAA-related procedures.

Dining, activities, and ancillary services receive mixed feedback. Meal quality is described as limited by reliance on prepared or frozen items rather than fresh-made meals, contributing to perceptions of low value given the facility’s fees. Activity programming, including references to pet therapy, lacks clear documentation or verification in the reviews, suggesting that families may benefit from more transparent schedules and program descriptions.

Facility upkeep and environment are other notable patterns. Cleanliness and maintenance deficiencies in common areas are mentioned, with examples such as deferred maintenance items. These concerns affect perceptions of overall quality and safety despite the attractive architectural style of the cottages.

For prospective residents and families: weigh the facility’s appealing residential environment and positive interactions with some caregivers against the operational shortcomings described. If considering this community, ask for documentation of staffing ratios and turnover, medication-administration policies, fall-prevention protocols, recent inspection or incident summaries, a sample meal plan with sourcing/preparation details, written activity and therapy schedules, and a clear description of all fees and outsourced services. Also request confirmation of privacy and record-handling procedures and ask how the facility addresses maintenance and sanitation issues when they arise.
