    Friendly, professional care; highly recommended

I'm very pleased with Sunset Manor - the staff (especially Blanca and Nancy) were friendly, caring and proactive, nurses kept us updated, and my parent's physical and mental health improved. The facility is clean, comfortable, meals and activities are well managed, and family communication was excellent. I'm grateful for the professional, attentive team and would highly recommend Sunset Manor, with only minor room for improvement.

    Summary of reviews

Sunset Manor elicits strongly mixed feedback. Many families praise the facility for caring, attentive nursing staff, an inviting and generally clean environment, accommodating meal service, active therapy and activity options, and helpful admissions and social‑work assistance. Several commenters highlighted proactive elements of care such as daily monitoring, monthly care planning, clear family communication, and useful discharge planning that supported transitions back home.

Positive clinical outcomes are noted in multiple accounts: residents described improved physical and mental health, responsive nursing interventions, and individualized meal adjustments. Specific staff members received commendation for supportive, communicative work with families. The facility’s common areas and general upkeep are frequently described as clean and comfortable, and families appreciated visible activity programming and therapy access.

Counterbalancing those strengths are recurring operational concerns. A pattern of inconsistent staffing and high turnover is associated with delays in care response, including delays attending to incontinence needs. Several families described instances of poor responsiveness or unprofessional communication from staff; at an operational level this points to variability in staff professionalism and in clinical oversight. There are also concerning notes about personal belongings going missing, which indicate weaknesses in property‑control and storage procedures. Some reviewers raised issues with sanitation or cleanliness variability across units rather than uniformly poor conditions.

Administrative and systems issues appear uneven. While some families experienced helpful, communicative administrators and robust discharge support, others described confusing or pressured consent processes and inconsistent complaint resolution; one review recommended contacting the ombudsman for unresolved concerns. Operational friction also shows in infrastructure: families reported entry/gate buzz systems and phone systems that are not consistently reliable, and there were comments about therapy or activity scheduling delays. A separate concern raised by reviewers pertains to online‑review authenticity, which some families cited when weighing feedback about the facility.

For prospective residents and families: consider an in‑person visit focused on current staffing levels for the unit of interest, security of resident storage and personal items, examples of clinical oversight and staff training, specifics about informed‑consent and family‑communication protocols, and verification of the facility’s visitor and phone/entry systems. Ask for written examples of care plans, staffing ratios, property‑control policies, and recent inspection or quality metrics. The available feedback suggests Sunset Manor can provide attentive, compassionate care in many cases, but families should confirm operational consistency and safeguards before placement.

    About Sunset Manor

Sunset Manor is a senior living facility that provides a range of care options, including assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and home care, so families can find the right fit, and you'll notice when you walk in that the staff stay kind, helpful, and joyful, making the place feel friendly instead of overwhelming, which puts you and your loved one at ease right away. The facility has a strong care team, including qualified professionals who help seniors recover after surgery, injury, or serious illness, so a person who needs short-term or long-term nursing care, or even specialized support like mechanical ventilation or tracheotomy care (with a 39-bed sub-acute unit for that), will find the services right there, and with 78 skilled nursing beds, round-the-clock medical care, and comprehensive rehabilitation programs, folks can work to regain independence and get back home when possible. Meals come out of kitchens where staff use quality ingredients because meals matter to health and happiness, and they shape menus around a balanced diet with plenty of vitamins and minerals, so residents get what helps them feel best over time, not just for a week or two, and that's true across all levels of care, even for those in memory care or on special diets. The convalescent hospital part, Sunset Manor Conv Hosp, is fully equipped for both short- and long-term care, focusing on post-hospitalization recovery and easing the return home when that's possible, so whether a person's there for rehabilitation after a hospital stay or for ongoing needs, the staff stay attentive and compassionate through the process and try to help both patients and families feel comfortable, which can mean a lot when you're facing uncertainty. For memory care, they offer specialized housing and structured programs for people with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia and provide therapies designed to reduce confusion and limit wandering for safety, while individualized care plans, activities, and social programs help everyone, whether they're recovering from surgery or adjusting to a longer stay, and those activities and programs try to keep up everyone's spirits, which people appreciate over time. The facility does infection control and follows health department guidelines for visitation, so families know that safety's kept in mind, and with the five-star skilled nursing rating, both families and residents have the assurance that medical, social, and rehabilitation needs get attention. If a person or their family wants to see what daily life's like, the community encourages tours, so people can meet other residents and staff face to face, and check out the rooms, dining, and care areas, which helps people decide if it's the right place to be. Sunset Manor puts patients first, aims for security in social and clinical care, and works to restore as much independence as practical, believing everyone deserves to keep as much meaning in their day-to-day life as possible.
