    Family owned attentive caring staff

I placed my mom here and it was the best decision-family-owned, hands-on owners and truly caring, competent staff (shoutout to Amanda and Boris). The home is spotless and cozy with outstanding, customizable meals (garden produce), daily activities/exercise/games/music, therapy and hospice support, and a safe, family-like atmosphere where residents thrive. I have complete peace of mind-friendly, attentive caregivers and a well-run, homey facility I highly recommend.

    Summary review

Overall impression: Reviews portray Palomino Residential Care as a highly favorable, small-scale, family-run board-and-care that consistently delivers attentive, personalized elder care. The dominant tone across summaries is overwhelmingly positive: reviewers repeatedly emphasize cleanliness, a home-like/resort feel, hands-on owners, and caring, competent staff who provide dignity and individualized attention. Many reviewers explicitly state that residents are happier, more social, and healthier since moving in — with concrete signs such as weight gain, improved skin, more friendships, and active participation in daily life.

Care quality and staff: A major theme is the strength of the caregiving team and management. Caregivers are described with words like kind, respectful, patient, competent, loving, and well-trained; families note specific staff members (Amanda and Boris) for excellent service. Owners are characterized as actively involved in daily operations and resident care, providing a personal, hands-on leadership style that many families find reassuring. Reviewers consistently mention resident-centered care practices, dementia awareness, timely communication with families, compassion in hospice/end-of-life situations, and overall staff dedication and availability. The combination of competent staff, involved owners, and small community size supports individualized attention and peace of mind for families.

Facilities and safety: Multiple reviewers highlight a bright, remodeled, and beautifully maintained facility with high attention to detail. The environment is repeatedly described as clean, organized, and free of unpleasant odors or hazards, promoting safety and comfort. The property includes a garden and large backyard space, supporting outdoor time and fresh produce for meals. The open floor plan and guest-house living arrangement contribute to a homey, family-style atmosphere rather than an institutional feel. Security and absence of dangerous obstacles were specifically noted, reinforcing perceptions of a safe environment for seniors.

Dining and nutrition: Dining receives strong praise. Reviews mention outstanding, customized meals, family-style dining for breakfast/lunch/dinner, flexible snack policies, and use of garden produce. Several families noted that meals are tailored to resident needs and preferences, and that good food quality has translated into better appetite and weight gain for some residents. The ability to customize meal plans and provide snacks flexibly is highlighted as a practical strength that supports resident well-being.

Activities, therapies, and social life: Palomino offers a broad range of activities that appeal to both physical and cognitive health. Commonly cited activities include daily exercises, brain games, puzzles, live music, sing-alongs, garden time, outings with complimentary transportation, and structured therapy services (physical and mental rehabilitation). Reviewers credit these programs with fostering friendships, laughter, and an engaged social environment where residents thrive. The small community size allows activities to be customized to residents’ needs and preferences, reinforcing the resident-centered philosophy mentioned across reviews.

Communication, management, and operations: Reviewers frequently praise timely communication and cooperative, responsive management. The family-owned and -operated nature of the home is repeatedly noted as a benefit: owners are visible, helpful, and quick to answer questions or assist families during tours. Several reviewers described quick, informative tours and staff who answered questions thoroughly. The hands-on administrative approach appears to translate into consistent, practical oversight of daily care.

Notable outcomes and endorsements: Many reviewers use strong endorsements—calling it the best senior care home, the best decision for their family, or one of the best board-and-care facilities they've seen. Specific outcomes cited include improved mood, regained weight, better skin condition, renewed hobbies and friendships, and overall happiness. Several reviews emphasize peace of mind and the sense that residents are “in excellent hands.”

Concerns and patterns to note: Negative feedback is limited and infrequent, but present. A language barrier was mentioned by at least one reviewer and may warrant clarification during tours or intake to ensure communication needs are met. Several people noted limited availability (no rooms available) or admission delays, suggesting the facility can operate at capacity and may have wait times. One review referenced the home as newly licensed while others call it well-established; this conflicting note suggests families should confirm current licensing and operational history during inquiries. None of the summaries raise safety, cleanliness, or staffing shortage concerns; the few negatives focus on access and communication nuance rather than care quality.

Bottom line: The collective reviews present Palomino Residential Care as a small, well-run, family-style residential care home with strong, compassionate staff, individualized care, excellent meals, diverse activities, and supportive owners. It stands out for creating a warm, home-like environment where residents are active, well-fed, and socially engaged. Prospective families should be aware of potential waitlists and confirm any language or licensing specifics during the intake process, but otherwise reviews indicate a high level of satisfaction and repeated recommendations from those who have placed loved ones there.
