    Welcoming spotless community, attentive staff

I moved my mom into this bright, modern community and I'm very pleased. The staff are friendly, attentive and responsive, the building and grounds are spotless, and the apartments are sunny and spacious. There are daily activities, outings and great on-site amenities, plus solid dining options and a convenient location near medical services. I would recommend this welcoming, well-kept place to other families.

    Summary of reviews

Sunnycrest presents a mixed profile: the community’s physical plant and lifestyle offerings are frequently praised while operational and clinical-consistency issues recur across accounts. Many reviewers describe a bright, recently renovated building with attractive common areas, a well-kept courtyard, and a variety of on-site amenities (bistro/snack areas, salon, theatre, fitness). Apartment sizes vary, but several families highlight spacious layouts, balconies, and accessible design. The location near hospitals and shopping is a consistent convenience for families.

Direct-care staff receive substantial positive feedback for warmth and compassion: numerous accounts note staff who are friendly, attentive, and effective in helping residents engage socially. At the same time, a recurrent counterpoint is chronic understaffing and high turnover. That staffing instability is tied to several operational consequences raised by families: inconsistent delivery of medications and incomplete medication logs, uneven housekeeping quality, reliance on agency or third-party caregivers, and slower response times to requests. These patterns create variability in day-to-day care — some residents receive attentive, consistent care, while others experience gaps or delays.

Dining and activities are a prominent strength for many residents. The activity program is described as busy and varied (music groups, outings, games, classes), and several reviews commend high-quality meals and an engaged chef. Conversely, other families report declines in food quality, small portions, missed meal timings, or extra charges for cleanup/housekeeping services. Activity inclusion also appears inconsistent for higher-acuity residents; some family members noted that residents with more significant health limitations were unable to participate meaningfully in group programming.

Facility maintenance and housekeeping show a bifurcated picture. Positive reports describe spotless housekeeping and thorough maintenance, but recurring concerns include sanitation inconsistencies (trash removal delays, dirty rooms or common areas in some instances), pest-control issues, and infrastructure failures such as water damage and ceiling collapse. These maintenance lapses, together with reports of overworked maintenance staff, suggest capacity constraints in upkeep when the facility is under staffing pressure.

Management and business practices are another source of mixed impressions. Several reviewers praise accessible, hands-on leadership and clear communication, while others describe rapid ownership or leadership turnover, unresponsiveness to family outreach, and confusing billing practices with unexpected ancillary fees. A small number of reviews raise serious care concerns including issues following a resident’s death and difficulties obtaining hospice support; these merit careful follow-up by prospective families.

Taken together, Sunnycrest will likely deliver a very positive experience when staffing, management, and clinical processes are operating smoothly: attractive physical spaces, a strong social program, and caring front-line staff are clear assets. However, the community also exhibits operational vulnerabilities — notably inconsistent medication administration, housekeeping and maintenance variability, staffing shortages, and management instability — that can materially affect resident experience. Prospective residents and families should verify current staffing levels, medication-administration protocols, housekeeping scope and fees, transportation schedules, hospice policies, and recent maintenance history during their tour, and consider speaking with current residents and families to assess consistency over time.

The apartments have nice touches like wooden floors, kitchens with appliances, cozy bedrooms with patterned bedding, and modern bathrooms with safety features like grab bars, and you can pick from studio or one-bedroom layouts to fit what you need. Meals get made from favorite homestyle recipes using seasonal ingredients, served in a restaurant-style dining room, or you can get your meal through room service, eat in a private dining room, or choose something that fits a special diet if you want; guests can also join for meals. There's a bunch of activities and programs, so folks can join exercise groups, garden in raised beds, play billiards, watch movies in the theater room, visit the library, or spend time with others in one of several lounges or the game room. Housekeeping, laundry, and dry-cleaning services get taken care of, and complimentary transportation is available, which makes getting to appointments or outings easier without having to drive yourself. Residents can bring their pets and use the hair salon or fitness center right on-site, and outside spaces like courtyards and putting greens give everyone a chance to get a little fresh air or sunshine. The place puts focus on helping with things like daily living activities, medication reminders and management, mobility support, and memory care, and they've got a staffing system with a care manager and a med room manager for extra support and observation. Along with full-time staff and emergency call systems, coverage is there around the clock, and you can have in-home doctor visits if needed, which is handy when health changes. Respite care is available for folks who need short-term support after surgery or while caregivers take a break, and there are also hospice services on offer. Weekly housekeeping and grocery shopping can be arranged, and there's parking for those who still drive. For those interested in faith and devotion, both on-site and offsite religious services happen regularly, and special community events and monthly themed gatherings keep the calendar interesting. Sunnycrest Senior Living uses six values called F.A.I.T.H.E. - Fun, Attitude, Integrity, Teamwork, Honesty, and Effort - to guide how they operate every day, and the aim is to offer a safe place where adults over 55 can stay active, connect with neighbors, and get the right care as needs change, with plenty of ways to relax, learn, and enjoy each day at a gentle pace.
