    Compassionate professional care and progress

My loved one stayed here and I was very pleased with the caring, professional staff - nurses and CNAs were attentive, responsive, and truly family-like. Rehab and wound care produced real progress, meals and activities were good, the facility was clean and welcoming, and leadership was organized and compassionate; I highly recommend this place.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews reflect a facility with substantial strengths in hands-on care and rehabilitation but with operational inconsistencies that prospective families should evaluate. Many accounts describe compassionate, diligent nursing staff and CNAs, effective therapy teams that promote independence, and positive post-operative and rehab outcomes. Residents and families frequently characterize the environment as warm and family-like, with engaging activities and an improving physical plant as renovations proceed.

Care and clinical quality: Clinical caregivers, including nurses and therapy staff, receive consistent praise for clinical competence, wound care, and motivating rehabilitation. Several families credit the facility with significant functional gains after surgery or hospitalization. At the same time, reviewers also describe variability in day-to-day care: staffing shortages and uneven CNA coverage were linked to delays in personal care and slower responsiveness on some shifts. There are also notes about variability in frontline experience and certification, suggesting that training and supervision are uneven across staff members.

Staff, communication, and conduct: Many reviewers highlight respectful, kind interactions and specific staff who went beyond expectations. Communication and responsiveness are frequently cited as strengths where present. However, other accounts point to inconsistent professionalism, lapses in communication, and occasional concerns about the tone or helpfulness of certain employees. There are also isolated but serious concerns related to privacy and record-handling; these should prompt direct questions about policies and safeguards during a tour.

Dining and activities: The facility's activities program is a consistent positive, with varied offerings (baking, bowling, bingo, arts and crafts) that families found meaningful. Dining staff and the kitchen receive positive comments for food and substitutions when needed, though some reviewers reported cold meals or inconsistent meal quality. Prospective families should ask about meal delivery processes and sample menus.

Facilities and belongings: Many reviews describe clean, welcoming common areas and improvements under recent renovations. Conversely, some reviewers noted maintenance and housekeeping issues in parts of the building and concerns about furnishings and unit-level upkeep. A recurrent operational concern involves controls over residents' personal belongings and laundry; missing clothing and property-control weaknesses were raised and should be investigated during a visit.

Management and trends: Several reviewers report clear, positive changes under new leadership, including improved cleanliness, staff training, and morale. Yet other comments indicate management instability and turnover that can affect consistency of care. Given the mixed accounts, families should ask about current staffing ratios, staff training programs, turnover rates, and recent quality improvements. Also inquire specifically about privacy safeguards and property-inventory procedures in light of allegations of theft and privacy breaches.

What to watch for and next steps: The dominant pattern is a skilled and caring clinical core with operational gaps that create variability in daily resident experience. When considering Cornerstone Care Center, arrange a walk-through during peak care times, meet nursing leadership, review staffing ratios, ask about training and supervision, and request written policies on privacy and personal-property management. These targeted questions will help determine whether the facilityโ€™s strengths align with a particular residentโ€™s clinical and personal needs.

    About Cornerstone Care Center

Cornerstone Care Center has 99 beds for senior residents who need different types of nursing care, from short-term rehab after a hospital stay to long-term help for those who are frail or have complex health needs, and they've got licensed staff like registered nurses, vocational nurses, therapists, a dietitian, and doctors working together to make sure folks get the care that fits their situation whether it's wound care, diabetes care, stroke rehab, heart failure management, or help with daily activities like dressing and bathing, because many people who stay here need steady support. The rooms come with kitchens or kitchenettes, washers and dryers, housekeeping, maintenance, cable TV, safety features for easier mobility, and there's guest parking plus Wi-Fi so people can keep connected, and each room has an emergency call system if something happens, which puts families a bit more at ease. There's a dining room with special meal plans, a salon and barbershop for personal care, and big, comfortable common areas where folks can relax or join daily activities like arts and crafts, games, or wellness programs that try to keep everyone moving and socially connected. Nursing staff offer help with grooming, laundry, medication, walking, wheelchair use, toileting, and personal care, and there's laundry and dry cleaning for those who need it, plus a full set of therapies-physical, occupational, speech-so people recovering from a surgery or injury, like a hip fracture or joint replacement, can do their rehab right there instead of moving around a lot. They also provide help with complicated care like catheter management, ostomy care, IV therapy, and negative pressure wound therapy for severe sores, and staff work closely with families through regular meetings and individualized care plans to help smooth transitions, whether that's back home or into longer stays. For people worried about falls, they've got balance and fall prevention programs and adaptive equipment, and for staff, there are benefits and programs to support their well-being and growth in the field. Mr. Benjamin Carter manages the facility, and the center holds a license under number #056100, so it meets industry standards, though it's not a BBB accredited business. The facility takes some long-term care insurance, and they answer customer service questions by email. Everything's centered around steady nursing care, skilled rehab, and the safety and comfort of the residents, always keeping the well-being of the seniors at the core.
