    Friendly staff, clean homey atmosphere

I toured this smaller, budget-friendly community and was impressed - the staff were exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable and attentive, the facility was immaculate, and rooms and common areas felt warm and homey. Management is responsive, care is individualized and comprehensive, and my mom is doing well here.

    Summary of reviews

Simi Hills Home Care is described primarily as a small, home-like assisted living with a strong emphasis on personalized attention. Families frequently mention friendly, knowledgeable caregivers and administrators who appear responsive and engaged. The facility is consistently described as clean and well-maintained, with a quieter cul-de-sac setting close to a park that many find peaceful. Reviewers note a full range of care services and specific strengths in dementia-related supports, including effective wandering-management protocols.

Clinical- and day-to-day care impressions are generally positive: staff are characterized as attentive, helpful with meals, and capable of learning residents’ conditions to provide individualized care. The smaller community size is often framed as a benefit for residents who need close attention. Dining is described as satisfactory to good, with several comments that residents are eating well. Admissions experiences and tours are usually welcoming; some families found the tour helpful in assessing fit.

However, reviewers also point to several operational limitations. Physical space is limited in some units: bedrooms are described as small, with a few rooms furnished simply or in an older style. Common areas are homey but not recently modernized, and some reviewers observed clutter or storage constraints. Programming and activities are identified as an area for improvement — opportunities for enrichment are limited currently, although there are indications the activity offerings are being expanded.

There are mixed impressions of management and cost. While management is sometimes noted as knowledgeable, other comments cite variability in staff professionalism and occasional scheduling or communication problems (for example, tour coordination). Pricing is presented inconsistently: the facility is described both as budget-friendly and as having non-negotiable or relatively high private-room costs; prospective families should verify current rates and contract terms. A serious concern appears in a review alleging inappropriate conduct toward memory-impaired residents; this raises questions about safeguarding and oversight. Families should specifically ask about background checks, staff training, incident reporting, and monitoring if memory-care is needed.

Recommendations for prospective families: visit more than once, ask for a tour at different times of day, review staffing ratios and turnover, request written details on activities and memory-care protocols, confirm dining and medication-management procedures, and obtain current pricing and contract flexibility information. If memory-care is a primary need, request documentation on safeguarding measures and inquire how the facility responds to and documents complaints or incidents. Overall, Simi Hills Home Care offers many strengths in personalized, small-community care and cleanliness, balanced by limitations in space, activities, and some operational consistency that merit direct inquiry during the evaluation process.

    About Simi Hills Home Care

Simi Hills Home Care, also called Simi Hills Home Center or Simi Hills Home Care Center, sits on a quiet cul-de-sac near a park and keeps things simple and home-like for up to six older adults at a time, all in a small licensed setting where you can tell the caregivers try to make things warm and accepting with friendly and attentive staff who get to know everyone pretty well, and they help with as much or as little as folks need, like just getting dressed and bathing or helping move around for those with limited mobility, and they also do the housekeeping, laundry, light cleaning, and meal prep with special diets, like for diabetes or food allergies, so everybody has something they can eat, which is nice since there's scheduled meals in the dining room and you can also bring a pet, because they're pet-friendly here and that's something many people appreciate. Caregivers give around-the-clock help with medication reminders, health checks, and even incontinence care, and nurses, podiatrists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, dentists, and doctors are on call, so there's a lot of medical oversight if that's ever needed, and the home has both regular assisted living and a more secured memory care building for people living with memory loss, where safety features like bracelets and alarms help prevent wandering, and the staff are trained to handle some tough behaviors that can come with Alzheimer's or dementia, as well as planning cognitive and social activities to support mental health. The place offers both long-term stays and short-term respite stays-which can be a real relief for family caregivers who need a break or when someone is recovering from the hospital-and there's hospice and home health services, so folks can stay even as their needs change, getting more help right there without having to move out. Rooms are simple and furnished, usually with two twin beds if sharing, along with phones and emergency alert systems, and there's indoor and outdoor common areas like walking paths and gardens, plus transportation for medical appointments, shopping, and group outings, and they try to keep things busy with a social calendar, on-site devotional services, community-sponsored events, and daily activities, although if someone prefers quiet, they seem to respect that too. The environment, from what's been said, is straightforward, comfortable, and emphasizes keeping the residents' independence and dignity, with care plans that take into account what each person wants and needs, and they've got no smoking inside the buildings to keep the air clean. With a focus on support and personalized medical attention, Simi Hills Home Care works with outside healthcare professionals and offers services like medication management, diabetic monitoring, and even heavy care and transfer help using lifts for folks who need it, so it's set up to help residents age in place with as much comfort and familiarity as possible, always with staff awake 24 hours a day. The community is part of Residential First Care and carries a state license-number 565801871-having a Seniorly community score of 5.5 and resident reviews averaging about 8.5 out of 10, and they're always looking to create a warm, respectful place where seniors, whether men or women as appropriate, feel accepted and supported in whatever way works best for their situation.
