    Caring, communicative staff and owner

I placed my mother here and I'm very pleased. The owner is accessible and communicative - I can call or text and get photos - and the staff are wonderfully caring, treating residents like family with nurse-delivered personal care; they dress and feed her and helped her regain abilities. Meals are appealing, the home is clean and nicely maintained with ongoing improvements, and they're helpful with visits and transportation. I would recommend this community.

    Summary of reviews

The Pine House is described overall as a small, home-style assisted living with strong strengths in individualized care and family communication. Families frequently highlight attentive, compassionate caregiving — including daily dressing and feeding assistance — and clinical oversight provided by nursing staff. Several accounts emphasize restorative outcomes, noting residents who regained abilities under the facility’s program. Communication is a recurring strength: the owner is accessible by call or text, staff provide photo updates, and they are generally responsive to family questions.

Staff and operations receive consistent praise for friendliness and responsiveness. Reviewers describe a supportive move-in process, staff who go beyond basic expectations, and practical supports such as setting up a dedicated visiting area and arranging transportation to medical appointments. Meals are characterized as appealing and well prepared, with multiple mentions that food quality is a positive aspect of living at the home.

Activity programming and resident engagement present a mixed picture. The facility offers activities and social options, but several family members expressed a desire for more movement-focused or exercise opportunities. While some found the activity schedule adequate, others characterized programming as limited, particularly for residents who benefit from more frequent physical activity.

The physical environment is generally clean and well maintained, with multiple notes about recent updates — new flooring and planned bathroom remodels — in an older house that is being modernized. That said, the building’s age and ongoing renovations are operational factors to consider, and families should expect periodic work or limitations related to infrastructure updates.

On policy and capacity, The Pine House operates with some constraints: room types are limited (double rooms are not available) and there are occupancy/assignment restrictions that may affect roommate or single-room arrangements. The community also has limited capacity to accept residents who require a secured or lockdown environment for safety reasons; clinicians and families should assess whether the facility’s security and clinical capabilities match higher-risk care needs. Cost is another practical consideration — rates are described as high relative to what is provided.

In summary, The Pine House appears well suited for families seeking a small, communicative assisted-living setting with hands-on nursing care, strong staff–family relationships, and good dining. Prospective residents should weigh the benefits of personalized care and owner accessibility against limitations in room availability, activity scope, building age/renovation status, visitation flexibility, and the facility’s suitability for residents needing secured environments. Visiting in person and discussing specific clinical and housing needs with management is advisable to confirm fit and clarify pricing and policy details.

    About The Pine House

The Pine House is a residential care home in California licensed for six seniors, with state license #365530095, and it's got a score of 3.8 out of 5 on Seniorly's rating system, so it does alright for itself. Residents get different room choices, either private or shared, and all rooms come furnished, with kitchenettes and private bathrooms, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, cable TV, and phone, so it's comfortable enough. Meals happen three times a day, and snacks are always around, plus there's a vegetarian menu, low sodium, and low sugar options, even room service too, and they're careful about special diets for allergies and diabetes with insulin help and blood sugar checks if needed.

The Pine House handles both assisted living and memory care for folks with dementia or Alzheimer's, and lets residents age in place even if their care needs grow, with light, medium, or heavy assistance including medication management, hygiene help, and mobility support, all under 24-hour supervision. The community has support for non-ambulatory and high acuity care, and will also help with hospice and respite care, even handling things like incontinence and 2-person lifts for folks who need transferring, with technology like bracelet alarms to prevent wandering for memory care residents.

Residents and families will find visiting nurses, therapists, and multilingual staff speaking Chinese, Filipino, Mandarin, Spanish, and English, and while The Pine House does grocery runs and helps with errands, it also offers housekeeping, laundry service, and parking. There's transportation for doctor's visits and outings at cost, and seniors can enjoy both indoor and outdoor common areas, walking paths, gardens, cable TV, and high-speed internet throughout the building. The Pine House hosts movie nights, holiday and birthday parties, trivia, bingo twice a week, live music, karaoke, group gatherings, and has social, spiritual, and recreational activities, letting residents work on puzzles or relax outside.

There's a dining room for community meals, supervised medication reminders, incontinence care with prompt reminders, and a secured setup to prevent residents from leaving unsafely. The building's all on one floor, has wheelchair accessible features and showers, and is close to public transit. While The Pine House doesn't take Medicare unless certified, it does offer personal care, nutritious food, 24-hour call systems, and full support for activities of daily living. The staff is known for being friendly and treating residents like family, making it feel homelike for folks who need memory, diabetic, or other daily care, and who appreciate a simple, social setting with peace of mind for their families.
