    Warm attentive home-like rehab center

I placed my mom in this mountain long-term/short-term rehab center and I'm very pleased. The nurses and staff are loving, approachable and treat residents like family - attentive, emotionally dedicated care with great communication and help for hearing aids, dentures and glasses. Rooms are bright, clean and home-like (remodeling underway), residents are friendly, my mom is social and has made close friends, and visitors even get free meals. The administrator and staff are responsive, outings are offered, and the facility feels warm and unique with cats and dogs - I strongly recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment in the reviews is strongly positive, with repeated praise for the quality of care, the compassion of staff, and the welcoming, home-like environment. Care quality is described as excellent: reviewers note attentive, loving caregivers who treat residents like family, and specific clinical supports such as assistance with hearing aids, dentures, and glasses. Both long-term care and short-term rehabilitation services are available, and several comments single out the nursing team as excellent and approachable. A number of reviewers explicitly state high satisfaction, strong recommendations, and even call the center "best in Colorado," indicating consistent, high perceived quality across multiple families.

Staff and management receive particularly high marks. The administrator is praised and described as responsive, and reviewers report good communication between families and staff. Multiple summaries say staff are available to talk at any time and that administrative and nursing personnel are responsive — this suggests an accessible leadership team and a culture of open communication. Emotional dedication and genuine affection for residents are recurring themes, with reviewers thanking staff for their caring attitude and noting that staff feel like family. This contributes to the strong sense of trust reported by families.

Facility, cleanliness, and atmosphere are also highlighted positively. The building and rooms are described as bright, clean, and odor-free, and reviewers note ongoing remodeling which appears to be framed positively as an improvement. The center's mountain location and unique character are mentioned and appear to contribute to a home-like, friendly environment. The presence of on-site cats and dogs is noted; many reviewers list this as part of the facility character and homey feel. Social life and activities are mentioned favorably: residents are social, make close friends, and there are outings for meals as well as the perk of free visitor meals — all factors that support resident quality of life.

There are few explicit negatives in the review set, indicating an overwhelmingly positive pattern. The most concrete concerns mentioned are that remodeling is ongoing (which could imply intermittent construction-related disruption) and that at least one resident expressed unhappiness about being there. The presence of on-site pets is listed in reviews as a characteristic of the facility; while many find it positive, it could be a drawback for those with allergies or who prefer no animals. No pervasive complaints about care, cleanliness, or communication were reported in these summaries.

In summary, the reviews paint Cripple Creek Care Center as a small, distinctive facility with strong clinical and emotional support, a family-like staff culture, good management communication, and a clean, pleasant environment that supports social engagement. The available services (long-term and short-term rehab), practical supports (help with glasses, hearing aids, dentures), and community-oriented touches (outings, free visitor meals, on-site pets) are repeatedly praised. The main items to note are the ongoing remodeling and an isolated report of a resident unhappy with placement; neither appear to undermine the broadly positive consensus but are worth confirming with the facility directly if they are decision factors for prospective residents or families.

    About Cripple Creek Care Center

Cripple Creek Care Center sits at 700 N. 'A' Street in Cripple Creek and has served area seniors since 1975, which means there's been over 48 years of care here, and when you walk in, you'll see a building with bright, clean rooms, some fresh updates, and spaces meant to feel like a real home, and you might even notice cats and dogs living with residents because the center has pet-friendly rules. The staff-including nurses and administrators-tends to be caring, approachable, and they pitch in to help with all kinds of needs, whether that's bathing or getting around, which can be comforting for folks who need both a bit of daily help and more medical support, and because there's an elected volunteer Board of Directors running things, decisions get made at regular meetings right at the center, which is a bit different than many other places. The Care Center offers a wide range of services, so some people stay for skilled nursing or rehabilitation after a hospital visit, while others settle in for long-term care or make use of the Assisted Living and Independent Plus options, and there's specialized help for those living with Alzheimer's, dementia, or advanced illness with wound care, memory care, hospice care, and even high acuity and non-ambulatory services, which not all places offer, so people with complex needs often find what they require here. Residents are encouraged to get involved in wellness programs that support both mind and body, and people can expect a range of activities, from resident-led events to outings in the community using arranged transportation, which keeps life busy and connected; inside, you might see people in the dining room enjoying meals served restaurant-style or spending time in the fitness room, computer lab, gaming room, or garden, while some rooms offer private bathrooms, air-conditioning, kitchenettes, and wheelchair-accessible showers, and laundry as well as housekeeping are taken care of too. Medicare and Medicaid both certify the center, and there's a round-the-clock nursing system with extra clinical staff for those who need 12-16 hours of nursing attention and a 24-hour call system for emergencies. Folks here live in either studio, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom apartments, many of which are fully furnished, and with over 50 rooms in the nursing home portion, there's space for a good number of residents. The facility welcomes people of all backgrounds and protects residents from discrimination based on LGBTQ status, gender identity, or source of income, as required by law, so the center works to include everyone. The community atmosphere means people can join in meals, use the small library, or get out in the garden, and regular transportation helps folks get to medical appointments or enjoy trips in town. For over 40 years, Cripple Creek Care Center has provided assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care, and even home care for those needing extra support, and through the years, the goal's been to give every resident a safe, supportive, and friendly place to call home right in Southern Teller County.
