    Caring staff homelike highly recommended

My aunt lives at Oakridge and I'm very pleased. The staff - from Director Claudia to the night nurse and long-tenured caregivers - are caring, dedicated, and go above and beyond with transportation, activities, and thoughtful attention to detail. It feels like home, she's made friends, is well cared for and safe, and I highly recommend Oakridge.

    Summary of reviews

Overview of care quality Residence at Oakridge elicits strongly mixed impressions. Many families describe compassionate, hands-on caregiving, with staff who are described as kind, thoughtful and attentive. Reviewers note regular care-planning and health-assessment meetings and say clinical staff and leadership sometimes go above and beyond to resolve problems. At the same time, other families report significant concerns about responsiveness and timeliness of basic care when staffing is thin. The overall pattern suggests pockets of consistently good bedside care alongside operational stressors that can affect dependability on some days or shifts.

Staff and management Staff are frequently praised for their dedication, long tenure, and the sense of a family-like culture. Several reviewers singled out leadership and specific nurses for strong engagement with families. However, staffing shortages and high workload are recurring themes: staff are described as overextended, which contributes to service variability. Management responsiveness appears uneven — some complaints are addressed promptly (including menu adjustments), while other accounts describe limited managerial presence for day-to-day needs. Staff turnover and continuity concerns were also mentioned as factors that can disrupt consistency of care.

Dining and activities The facility offers an activity program that many residents enjoy and participate in, and families report that residents form social connections. The kitchen leadership has responded to menu concerns in some cases, but food quality and meal satisfaction are inconsistent across reports. Prospective families may wish to observe mealtimes and review menus to judge whether offerings meet expectations for their loved one.

Facilities and logistics The building is described as an older but generally clean facility and is noted for being more affordable than some alternatives. Nonetheless, there are isolated sanitation and safety concerns reported for certain areas that merit attention during a visit. Transportation logistics are a clear operational weakness: scheduling to medical appointments can be unreliable, with late or overbooked van runs creating difficulty for residents who depend on facility transport. Several reviewers advised that the community functions best when families visit regularly and remain engaged.

Clinical coordination and notable patterns There are indications of competent medication technicians and proactive clinical meetings, but at least one account highlights gaps in medication-management coordination with external providers. This points to a need for clear processes for communicating with outside physicians and verifying prescriptions. Overall, reviews cluster into two broad patterns: families who consistently experience attentive, high-quality care and families who encounter operational gaps linked to staffing, transportation, and food service. That variability suggests outcomes may depend on staffing levels, shift timings, and the particular unit or caregiving team.

What to look for if you visit When evaluating the community in person, consider asking about current staffing ratios, turnover rates, transportation scheduling, and protocols for coordinating with outside physicians. Observe mealtimes, activity engagement, and common-area cleanliness; request examples of how recent family concerns were handled and whether care-planning meetings are held regularly. These targeted checks can help determine whether the facility’s strengths — engaged staff, clinical meetings, social programming, and affordability — align with your expectations and whether the operational concerns are being actively managed.

    About Residence at Oakridge

Residence At Oakridge sits in Fort Collins, Colorado, as part of the Flourish Supportive Living network, which covers several other communities like The Village Assisted Living, Penny Lane Assisted Living Residence, Wadsworth House, Maplewood House, Newport, Floyd, Elizabeth House, Emporia House, and Steele House, with locations in places like Denver, Lakewood, Colorado Springs, Littleton, Centennial, and Arvada. This supportive living community has room for 68 residents and provides both private and semi-private suites with climate control, private bathrooms, kitchenettes, spacious closets, and furnished living spaces. Residents choose from studio, one-bedroom, semi-private, or two-bedroom rooms, all with cable TV, telephones, and Wi-Fi. Housekeeping, laundry, and linen services are available, though the cleaning's not daily. Residents find climate-controlled rooms and emergency alert systems throughout, making things a bit safer and more comfortable.

Assisted living, memory care, respite care, and hospice care services are offered, with a nursing team available 12-16 hours each day and staff on-site 24 hours for supervision and emergencies. Medication management, help with bathing, eating, dressing, transfers, and activities of daily living are all part of the support here, and there's extra help for managing insulin doses, two-person transfers, and ongoing needs depending on one's care plan, which staff re-assess every six months. Meals are cooked daily by staff and can be adjusted for special diets, including diabetes and high blood pressure, prepared restaurant-style and focused on vitamins and nutrition.

The grounds stay pretty well kept, with gardens and walking paths, and there are outdoor areas and common rooms for residents to relax or take part in scheduled activities, community-sponsored movie and music programs, reading rooms, a library, and social events. Social, educational, and recreational activities fill the calendar, and residents can join fitness classes, play games in the game room, enjoy movie nights, or get together for arts and creative programs. A computer center and business room are available, along with a spa area that has a steam room and hot tub. The beauty salon and barber shop on-site, along with concierge and move-in help, make settling in easier.

Transportation is arranged by the community both for outings and non-medical appointments, and scheduled trips can help residents get to doctor's appointments, errands, or faith-based services. The community allows pets, so folks can bring animal companions along. Residents have access to clinics staffed by physicians, psychiatrists, and psychoanalysts if they need counseling. Poudre Valley Hospital is nearby and has a good Medicare review score. Help with paperwork and community services, like family support and meal planning, keep things organized for the residents and their families.

The atmosphere here tries to support dignity and independence, with staff trained to assist each person as needed, while encouraging everyone to live as actively and socially as possible, building friendships through shared meals and daily activities. Medicaid, private pay, veteran's benefits, social security, and insurance are all accepted payment options, with fees based on type and level of need. The Residence At Oakridge accepts short-term stays for respite care, serves as a retirement and assisted living community, and is connected to local medical centers, physicians, and pharmacies to help keep residents healthy and at ease. The focus stays on being helpful, kind, and keeping up a welcoming place where support and comfort go hand in hand, giving seniors choices and a steady schedule to make the most of their days.
