    Spotless caring home-like family run

I placed my mom here and we've been very pleased - the facility is spotless, secure, and feels like home. The staff and nurses are genuinely caring and responsive, meals are good, activities (bingo, music, outings) and therapy keep residents engaged, and the one-floor, family-run setting with nice common areas and water views made the transition easy. I'd definitely recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

The Colony Club Sunrise elicits a mix of strong positive experiences and recurring operational concerns. Many families and residents praise the facility's caring culture: staff are frequently described as compassionate, the nursing team is often attentive and hands-on, and administration is accessible and responsive in numerous accounts. The community presents as small and home-like, with clean common areas, multiple social rooms, an attractive patio, and private apartment options. On-site services such as physical therapy, a memory-care/day program, transportation, a salon, and daily housekeeping contribute to a convenient, resident-focused environment.

Care quality is uneven across accounts. Several reviewers emphasize reliable, high-quality nursing and individualized attention; others describe gaps tied to aide availability and responsiveness, including delays in attending to personal-care needs. There are recurring concerns about medication-management processes and about communication during clinical changes or hospital transitions. Allegations of mishandled personal belongings and isolated billing problems appear in the record; these should prompt families to ask specific questions about inventory, documentation, and billing controls during a tour.

Dining and activities are similarly mixed. A number of families report well-prepared, enjoyable meals, room-service options, and a pleasant dining room. Conversely, other accounts note inconsistent meal quality, occasional overcooking, and desire for more varied or spicier menu options. Activity programming is generally a strength — daily bingo, music, crafts, outings, holiday events, and a full-time activity director are cited — though some residents and families perceive variability in frequency or variety of offerings depending on staffing and program continuity.

Facilities and amenities receive positive remarks for cleanliness, interior presentation, and communal spaces such as a large TV/theater room and outdoor seating. At the same time, there are specific sanitation and pest-control concerns reported in certain areas, and some units are described as having limited space or more basic amenities. Safety features and surveillance are noted positively, but patterns of staff turnover and management changes have been linked to perceived declines in consistency for operations and resident experience.

Management and operational leadership draw both praise and criticism. The community's family-owned character and some hands-on directors are frequently commended for resolving issues promptly and for financial flexibility in individual cases. However, several accounts associate ownership transitions and staffing cuts with reduced service consistency, billing or administrative errors, and variable staff conduct. Prospective families should prioritize an in-person visit, ask about current staff turnover rates, medication-administration protocols, pest-control schedules, activity calendars, and examples of how the facility documents and resolves complaints and missing-item incidents before making a placement decision.

    About The Colony Club Sunrise

The Colony Club Sunrise, also known by other names like Oasis Palms and Victoria Villa, sits on the west side of Pine Island Road north of Oakland Park Boulevard and south of Commercial Boulevard, offering a warm and cozy setting for seniors who want complete living and care solutions tailored just for them, and while the place is known for its active social spaces, residents can join music sessions, church services, bingo, arts and crafts, wellness programs, and even virtual travel tours or intergenerational activities, so there's always something to help them stay active and busy if they're up for it. People here get to choose between living in studio, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom apartments that come with features like kitchenettes, window treatments, sprinkler systems, smoke alarms, and emergency call systems, and the grounds offer things like a patio area, outdoor garden, resident and guest parking, a salon and barbershop, a game and recreation room, high-speed internet, a shared living area, and a restaurant-style dining room where healthy, tasty meals and snacks are served each day with help available from waitstaff.

Having a caring and attentive staff, led by a dedicated director, the place provides a broad mix of care types-assisted living, memory care, Alzheimer's care, respite stays, and even home care and hospice-so whether someone needs just a little help with everyday things like bathing, grooming, dressing, laundry, or medications, or needs specialized attention because of memory loss, the trained team including on-site nurses and an on-site nursing team, with support from regular doctor visits and a good relationship with a nearby pharmacy, steps in to help. Residents who enjoy independence can also get support with personal care and have help with medication, while the more complex needs of memory care get special attention with activities and care plans that change as their needs change.

The grounds have nice lawns and manicured gardens, and residents can spend time visiting with friends outdoors or relaxing in quiet spaces, and for those with pets, the pet-friendly policy allows animal companions. A staff education program keeps caregivers up to date, and modern safety features along with a reliable technology infrastructure support peace of mind, so there's regular 24-hour staff oversight and access to help. Weekly housekeeping and laundry, concierge services, and scheduled transportation to local doctors or shopping trips make day-to-day life easier, and when short stays are needed after hospital stays, respite care is available, with all levels of support provided in a way that respects privacy and comfort. Room and care options let seniors maintain their own belongings for a familiar feeling that's close to home.

The Colony Club Sunrise accepts private pay and some insurance including Medicare, which can help cover a portion of costs, and the on-site staff strives to help each resident maintain as much independence, health, and happiness as possible within an environment where safety and individual attention are always priorities.
