    Well-run spotless community; excellent care

My mother has lived here for years and I'm very pleased - the facility is well run and spotless, with wonderful on-site nurses and excellent medication management. The staff (Grace and her team included) and the administrator are professional, friendly and always available; they treat residents like family, provide great meals and plenty of activities. I feel my mom is safe, well cared for, and communication with us is excellent - I highly recommend this community.

    Summary of reviews

Apollo Gardens elicits sharply mixed impressions. Many families praise the facility for its personable caregiving, on-site clinical resources, and enduring resident relationships; others raise operational concerns around staffing, communication, and certain aspects of resident care. Overall, the facility presents both clear strengths and recurring areas for improvement.

Care and staff: A consistent strength in many reviews is the caregiving team — described as friendly, attentive, and professional. Several families highlighted specific staff members and the administrator for strong communication and personal attention, and multiple comments noted on-site nursing and physician access as well as reliable medication delivery and management. At the same time, there are recurring concerns about inconsistent staffing levels and variability in staff conduct and responsiveness. Some reviewers reported situations that they interpreted as delays in clinical attention or lapses in monitoring; a few described hospital transfers following clinical issues. These patterns suggest that while committed caregivers are present, staffing stability and clinical-response processes may be inconsistent.

Dining and activities: Dining is often cited as a positive: reviewers mention high-quality meals, generous portions, communal dining that supports social interaction, and occasional special treats and entertainment. However, facility-level constraints appear to affect the dining experience for some residents — the dining room and food-preparation area are described as small, and kitchen layout limits visibility of meal prep. Activity offerings are uneven in reviewers' accounts: some families report frequent entertainment and robust programming, while others describe very few activities and limited engagement options. Prospective residents should inquire about current activity schedules and how programming is structured and staffed.

Facilities and cleanliness: Many accounts describe a clean, well-maintained environment and comfortable rooms; the facility's upkeep and communal areas receive positive mentions from numerous reviewers. Conversely, some reviews raise sanitation and odor concerns in particular areas and note that some rooms feel small or crowded. There are also comments about a dreary atmosphere in parts of the building and temporary access issues related to construction. Those touring the community should inspect rooms, communal spaces, and dining areas to assess size, light, and overall condition.

Management and notable patterns: Opinions about management are polarized. Several reviewers commend the administrator and owners for accessibility and supportive family communication; others describe defensive or dismissive responses to complaints and limited transparency in incident handling. A minority of reviews include serious allegations of discriminatory conduct; such claims merit careful inquiry during any evaluation. Visitation policies and pandemic-related restrictions were brought up as a source of frustration for families, with concerns about inconsistent application and communication. In sum, Apollo Gardens demonstrates significant strengths in resident-focused care, communal dining, and on-site clinical resources, but prospective residents and their families should evaluate current staffing levels, complaint-resolution practices, activity programming, and any recent changes in management or operations before making a decision.

    About Apollo Gardens Retirement

Apollo Gardens Retirement sits at 2718 Johnson St in Hollywood, FL, and offers a place for seniors to live with options like semi-private rooms and studio apartments that have private bathrooms, and some of these are ground floor units for better access if walking's a challenge, and the community feels tight-knit because the staff, led by Grace, the owner, bring a friendly, helpful, and kind atmosphere that makes people feel safe and welcome. The community encourages everyone to decorate their suites with their own things from home, and the unit names have a unique touch that's meant to feel personal, and there are spaces like a dining room, a sunny outdoor garden, indoor common areas, a fitness room, a game room, a small library, a computer center, a wellness center, a kitchenette, and even a beauty salon and a spa for relaxing. Residents get help when they need it with daily things like bathing, dressing, moving around, meals, medication, diabetes care, and even incontinence care, with a nurse present between 12 to 16 hours a day and staff keeping watch 24 hours a day with a call system ready in case someone needs something quickly. Memory care stands out for seniors who tend to get confused or wander, with close support aimed at keeping everyone calm and safe. Housekeeping happens regularly, transportation is arranged for doctors' visits or errands (and non-medical trips too), and there are devotional services, plus move-in help to get settled without stress.

Activities get planned every day to keep folks busy and included, whether it's exercise, games, movie nights, music, festivals, or resident-led groups, with spaces set aside for hobbies, reading, or socializing so people make friends easily. Meals focus on nutrition and taste, and common areas have air conditioning, cable TV, Wi-Fi, and showers that fit wheelchairs. There's also parking and transportation close by, which makes it easier for visitors and trips out. With 57 residents, Apollo Gardens keeps a steady community where people know each other and staff, and the caregiver team, guided by Grace, works from a value system respecting dignity and the unique worth of each resident, which means a resident's bill of rights is recognized and everyone's voice gets heard. There's a focus on each person's growth-whether that's physical, mental, or social-by offering a routine, safety, personal care, and expert advice for residents and families navigating care decisions, whether it's assisted living, nursing care, memory support, or independent living. The atmosphere stays family oriented, aiming for a sense of home and real community, with a commitment to well-being and supported independence.
