    Caring, family-like, pet-friendly senior community

I'm very pleased with this community - the staff (Heddy and Teresa especially) are caring and responsive and even handled a move-in hiccup with grace. The hotel-like, homey atmosphere, cat-friendly policy, petting zoo/animal interactions and lots of activities keep residents engaged; meals are good and rooms are clean. It truly feels like one big family.

    Summary of reviews

Reviewer feedback presents a mixed picture of Caring Village of Forest Glen. Many families and residents praise the caregiving staff, describing them as compassionate, attentive, and personally engaged; several reviewers singled out individual caregivers for exceptional care. Multiple comments highlight a home-like, family atmosphere, pet-friendly policies and regular animal interactions, and active spiritual programming such as on-site church services. Positive notes also include clean, well-kept resident rooms, comfortable common areas with a hotel-like feel, and generally accessible visitation.

At the same time, a number of operational concerns recur across reviews. Staffing instability and high turnover are frequently mentioned and appear to contribute to inconsistent daily care, variable staff conduct, and gaps in activities coverage. Several reviews describe limited clinical capacity — including sparse nursing presence — and medication-management weaknesses. Families expressed concerns about inconsistent personal-care routines, such as bathing schedules and delays in attending to residents.

Facility condition and service reliability are additional areas of concern. Reviewers cite an aging building with deferred maintenance, sanitation and odor issues in some areas, and pest-control concerns. Dining feedback is mixed: some residents report good meals and appropriate grooming, while others describe repetitive menus and inconsistent meal quality. Activity programming is characterized as uneven — some reviewers praise organized events and church services, while others find activities limited or not well coordinated.

Management and communication emerge as a clear pattern. Several reviewers describe top-down leadership, limited follow-through on raised issues, and gaps in transparency and family communication. Security and reception processes are another operational weakness noted (for example, lack of a staffed front desk and at least one elopement-related security incident), which raises questions about supervision and check-in procedures. Pricing and payment constraints were also mentioned as a concern by some families.

In summary, Caring Village of Forest Glen appears to offer strengths in caregiving relationships, a family-oriented culture, pet programming, and some comfortable accommodations. However, these positives are counterbalanced by recurring operational weaknesses — inconsistent staffing and clinical coverage, maintenance and sanitation shortcomings, medication- and personal-care inconsistencies, activity variability, and leadership/communication gaps. Prospective residents and families should arrange an in-person tour, ask about current nurse coverage and staff turnover, review pest-control and maintenance records, inspect dining samples and activity calendars, and request documentation of medication-management and incident-response policies before deciding.
