    Welcoming spotless community, compassionate staff

I moved my mother here and we're very pleased - the community is beautiful, spotless, and welcoming with spacious apartments (full kitchens, in-unit laundry) and regular housekeeping. Staff are compassionate and responsive, dining is excellent, and there are plentiful activities plus on-site wellness and therapy services, so I happily recommend this community.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews for Five Star Premier Residences of Plantation describe a community with many of the amenities and services expected at a higher-end senior living campus, combined with operational inconsistencies that prospective residents and families should evaluate carefully.

Staff and care: Many reviewers praise the staff as warm, caring, and attentive, and several accounts highlight individual employees who provide strong personal attention and effective family communication. Independent-living residents tend to report more consistent satisfaction with staff responsiveness and housekeeping. However, assisted-living experiences are less uniform: reviewers describe variability in care coordination, delays in personal-care support (including bathing and grooming), and concerns about medication-management processes. There are also recurring notes about staffing turnover and uneven training, which appears to drive variability in day-to-day assistance and tone of staff–resident interactions.

Dining and food service: The community offers restaurant-style dining and multiple meal options, and many residents find the dining environment pleasant and convenient. At the same time, reviewers mention variability in food quality (some characterize meals as bland or unappetizing) and intermittent service problems such as incorrect orders, missed or bagged meal delivery without in-room assistance, and confusion about menu schedules. Families should clarify meal-service expectations, delivery procedures, and any extra charges for meal assistance.

Activities and amenities: The campus provides a broad activities calendar, fitness offerings (including water aerobics), transportation services, a salon, and recreational spaces; these are frequently cited as strengths. Independent-living residents generally report active social programming and satisfied participation. Some assisted-living residents or families indicate that activities are less accessible without a private aide or additional support, and certain programs (for example, movie selections) may not align with all residents’ interests.

Facilities and campus features: The property is repeatedly described as attractive and well-appointed, with lakeside views, patios, pool areas, and spacious independent apartments with full kitchens and in-unit laundry in many units. Reviewers also note weekly housekeeping and routine maintenance as positives. Conversely, there are repeated references to sanitation and cleanliness inconsistencies in specific bathrooms and common areas, pest-control concerns in some units, dim or poorly lit public areas, and small unit footprints for some assisted-living apartments. The facility does not consistently offer on-site memory-care, which may be important for families seeking that level of service.

Management and operations: Patterns in the feedback point to uneven operational reliability. Common operational weaknesses include slow maintenance turnaround, inconsistent laundry/folding practices, variability in kitchen accuracy and scheduling, uneven front-desk or security responsiveness, and occasional lapses in follow-through from management. Cost is another recurring theme: some families feel the pricing is high relative to the level of assisted-living services delivered, and several reviews reference additional charges for higher levels of care or for aides.

Notable patterns and considerations: Overall, the facility appears to offer strong amenities and many instances of high-quality, personalized staff attention—particularly in independent-living settings and short-term rehab contexts. Simultaneously, assisted-living and clinical-service areas exhibit more variability, with recurring operational issues that affect cleanliness, timeliness of personal care, medication handling, and meal service. Prospective residents and families should tour both independent and assisted areas, ask for specifics on staffing ratios and training, review medication-administration policies, confirm housekeeping and laundry schedules, inquire about pest-control protocols, and obtain clear pricing and contract terms for additional care needs. Doing so will help align expectations with the parts of the community that are consistently praised and those that have shown inconsistent performance.

About Five Star Premier Residences of Plantation

Five Star Premier Residences of Plantation, sitting just outside Fort Lauderdale, FL, works as a continuing care retirement community where seniors can find independent living, assisted living, memory care, nursing care, and even adult day care under one roof so residents don't have to move if their needs change, and when you first walk up you'll notice the covered portico with its columns and a clock tower, and right inside there's a big grand lobby with a sweeping staircase, making things feel welcoming and kind of fancy without being stuffy. Folks can choose from a bunch of different floor plans, including studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedrooms, and some of them have walk-in closets, patios, balconies, full kitchens or kitchenettes, and the bedrooms feel comfortable with soft lighting and calm, pleasant décor, so things don't feel too hospital-like or cold. The community is pet-friendly and even offers pet therapy, plus residents have access to services like housekeeping, in-house doctor visits, in-house religious services, concierge help, and transportation with a community shuttle bus.

There are all sorts of amenities, such as indoor and outdoor pools-a heated indoor pool in the cottages clubhouse, an outdoor pool with a hot tub, and areas like the gazebo, gardens, ponds, and even a lake with screened-in patios for lakefront views, so it's easy for folks to find a peaceful spot or take a walk. The Oasis Lounge hosts social gatherings, and there's a movie theater with regular showings, a bar and cocktail lounge for happy hours, activity studios, a beauty salon/barbershop, a fitness center with exercise classes, a dog park, a card and game room, a library, computer stations, gardens, a community park, and several spots for games and clubs, plus shopping's nearby if anyone wants an outing.

Services here cover independent living for seniors who like to do things for themselves, assisted living for those who need tailored help, memory care for adults with Alzheimer's or dementia, skilled nursing for folks with medical needs, short-term stays for respite or recovery, and outpatient rehabilitation with FOX Rehabilitation on site, so support matches what people actually need, not just one-size-fits-all. Meal plans include one or two meals per day, and there's a dazzling dining hall, a MyChoice Dining Program for flexibility, restaurant-style dining, and even a private dining room for small gatherings, with three chef-prepared meals covered under the Five Star Culinary experience when needed. Residents can stay as busy as they want, with daily activities, social events, group trips, clubs, happy hours, enrichment programs, volunteer opportunities, and a big focus on keeping everyone engaged and healthy, and safety's addressed by being a fully gated community with covered parking.

Assisted living starts at $4,500, independent living starts at $3,300, with prices depending on the chosen floor plan and care level, and basic utilities like cable and internet are included. The place tries to stay bright, lively, and comfortable so folks can feel at home whether they're taking part in an exercise class, joining a movie night, chatting in the Royal Palm room, or just sitting on the patio by the lake watching the water go by.
