    Family-run facility with attentive staff

I'm very satisfied with the care my loved one receives at this husband-and-wife run facility. The staff are genuinely caring, attentive and feel like family-Lisa at the front desk is an angel-and the team's dedication and PT have helped my partner improve. It's very clean, well maintained, and residents are treated with wonderful, thoughtful service.

    Summary of reviews

Palace Retirement Home elicits a clear dichotomy in reviewer impressions: caregiving and interpersonal aspects are frequently praised, while facility condition and operational consistency raise concerns. On the positive side, reviewers emphasize compassionate, attentive care. Staff are often described as dedicated, family-like, and emotionally supportive; multiple accounts highlight effective hands-on caregiving and progress under physical-therapy programs. Reception and front-desk personnel received specific commendation for being accommodating and responsive, which supports a generally warm, resident-focused culture.

Despite strengths in caregiving, operational and environmental issues recur. Cleanliness and maintenance appear inconsistent across the property: some areas are described as well maintained, while other common spaces and furnishings are characterized as worn, cluttered, or poorly presented. Reviewers note outdated aesthetics and motel-like decor in parts of the building, which contributes to an uninviting atmosphere for some families. There are also indications of operational disorganization — clutter, messy areas, and variable housekeeping — that suggest housekeeping and maintenance processes may not be uniformly enforced.

Staffing levels are a prominent operational concern. Observations of limited staffing coverage and high workloads point to potential delays in routine assistance and reduced opportunities for one-on-one engagement beyond essential care. This staffing pressure aligns with comments about limited resident engagement and few structured activities; several reviewers expressed that residents appeared under-stimulated or insufficiently engaged. Dining also drew mixed feedback, with notes about poor presentation and an unappealing dining impression in some instances.

Management appears to be more hands-on and small-scale, described in one account as a husband-and-wife operation; this can foster close relationships and responsiveness but may also limit resources for capital improvements. A recurring pattern is a strong, personal approach to care coupled with facility-level gaps — maintenance, housekeeping, activity programming, and staffing capacity — that may affect prospective residents’ expectations. Additionally, cost was mentioned as relatively high, which raises questions about value alignment between pricing and the facility’s physical condition for some families. Prospective residents and families should weigh the demonstrated strengths in caregiver dedication and individualized support against the variability in environment, organization, and staffing when considering Palace Retirement Home.
