    Resort-like community with outstanding amenities

I toured and moved in and I'm very pleased - the location and gorgeous grounds feel resort-like, and the spacious, well-planned apartments have full kitchens and in-unit laundry. The staff and caregivers are warm and responsive, maintenance is prompt, and weekly housekeeping keeps things tidy. Dining is outstanding (made-from-scratch meals and gluten-free options), and the social calendar is nonstop - classes, outings, pool, concerts and clubs. With transportation, on-site medical support and lots of amenities, it's an easy, active place I'd recommend as a long-term home.

    Summary of reviews

Aston Gardens at Pelican Pointe elicits a broadly positive impression for its independent-living product: reviewers consistently praise the campus amenities, apartment layouts, and lively social programming. The community offers a wide calendar of organized activities, frequent outings, and on-site recreational options (pool, fitness classes, card rooms, arts), which residents and families describe as central to daily life. Apartments are frequently characterized as spacious and well appointed, with in-unit kitchens, washer/dryer units, and contemporary finishes; the grounds and common areas are often described as resort-like and well designed for social interaction.

Dining is a strong selling point for many households. The property operates an on-site kitchen with an upscale dining room and menu variety; numerous comments highlight a skilled chef, attractive presentation, and special-event meals. At the same time, other reviewers describe inconsistency in meal seasoning, portioning, or temperature control, and note additional charges for room service or selected menu items. Prospective residents should consider both the generally positive dining reputation and the variability some families experienced.

Staff interactions form a mixed but generally favorable pattern. Many accounts emphasize friendly, knowledgeable, and responsive staff, prompt maintenance, and helpful concierge services that facilitate appointments and daily needs. However, there are recurring mentions of staffing shortages, front-desk coverage gaps, and uneven responsiveness at times—issues that can affect communications, emergency handling, and day-to-day assistance. Relatedly, several reviews raise concerns about clinical-transition coordination (for example, hospital-to-facility transfers or rehab discharges) and about the scope and consistency of assisted-living and memory-care supports on campus.

Management and operational practices are another area of divergence. Positive remarks note clear organization, abundant programming, and helpful move-in support; conversely, other voices express dissatisfaction with pricing trends, new or recurring fees (including internet and service charges), and billing transparency. A subset of reviews cites variability in vendor services (cable/DirectTV, internet) and in routine upkeep around certain outdoor or furniture areas. Safety and access notes include generally good security features but occasional concerns about visitor access, gate delays, and fast-moving cart traffic on campus.

In summary, Aston Gardens at Pelican Pointe presents a strong independent-living environment with robust social programming, attractive accommodations, and well-regarded dining for many residents. Families evaluating the community should balance those strengths against operational concerns—particularly around staffing consistency, assisted/memory-care resources, clinical-transition coordination, and fee transparency—and may want to ask targeted questions about emergency coverage, housekeeping schedules, vendor contracts (internet/TV), and recent fee history during tours and contract review.
