I'm very pleased with this family-owned mountain facility - spotless, well-maintained grounds and spacious rooms with walk-in closets/showers and kitchenettes. The staff and hands-on management are kind, attentive, and truly go above and beyond; memory care, skilled nursing and therapy services are reliable. Home-style food, lots of activities, seasonal decor, transportation and welcoming amenities make it feel like home; I'd recommend it to families seeking caring, trustworthy senior care.

Summary of reviews
Traces of Tiger Retirement is described largely as a family-oriented, long-standing facility with a homelike atmosphere, extensive amenities, and generally attentive staff. Reviewers commonly praise the compassionate, hands-on staff and note that many residents enjoy a range of amenities — including hot tubs, sunrooms, a library, a large recreation room, and broad outdoor grounds — as well as spacious private accommodations featuring walk-in showers, large closets, mini-kitchens, and TV hookups. Renovations and seasonal decorations are frequently mentioned, and multiple families highlight 24/7 staff availability, transportation services, weekly church and social programming, and coordination with home-health and therapy providers.
Clinical care and safety receive mixed commentary. Many families describe reliable daily care, helpful nursing and therapy services, and responsive support during end-of-life situations. At the same time, a number of reviews raise operational concerns that affect clinical consistency: pressure-ulcer prevention and other clinical-quality issues, an allegation involving medication management that prompted emergency legal/clinical involvement, and uneven incident-response practices. There are also comments about the facility’s memory-care arrangements — specifically the co-location of memory-care residents with the general population — which some families viewed as problematic for individualized dementia care.
Staffing and management stability are notable themes. Several reviewers applaud specific managers and long-standing, hands-on ownership, describing marked improvements under engaged leadership. Conversely, other accounts indicate declines in quality following leadership or staff turnover; reviewers cite staffing shortages at times and variability in how consistently the facility is managed. New management iterations are reported to have produced improvements in some cases, but leadership continuity appears to be a factor families should probe during a visit.
Dining and activities are generally strengths but show variability. Many families praise home-cooked meals, festive community events, and a lively activities calendar (Bingo, arts and crafts, exercise classes, weekly services). Some reviewers, however, describe inconsistent meal quality or portions and occasional menu items they found unappealing; thus dining experience may depend on timing and menu rotation. Activity offerings are broad and expanding, though a few comments suggest room for more group programming in certain periods.
The physical plant is a mix of renovated, attractive spaces and older areas needing attention. Positive descriptions emphasize tasteful decor, clean rooms, and well-kept grounds; others note drab or outdated public-area finishes and maintenance preferences such as lawn height. Accessibility features (handicapped-accessible showers, walk-in closets) and apartment-style layouts are repeatedly noted as conveniences.
Overall, Traces of Tiger appears well suited to families prioritizing a home-like environment, strong personal attention from staff, robust amenities, and coordinated therapy services. Prospective residents and families should balance those strengths against reported variability in clinical oversight, staffing stability, and dining consistency. Recommended due diligence: tour current memory-care arrangements, ask about recent staff turnover and leadership changes, review medication-management and incident-response protocols, inquire about pressure-ulcer prevention and nutrition practices, and observe activities and mealtime routines during a visit.

About Traces of Tiger Retirement
Traces of Tiger Retirement is a one-story community of 24 apartments where folks can get independent living, personal care support, and assisted living, along with a dedicated memory care neighborhood that's coming soon for people with Alzheimer's or dementia who need a secure environment to help with confusion or wandering. You'll find kitchenettes in every apartment so residents can make their own meals if they like, plus furnished living spaces for comfort and screened porches and a sunroom for enjoying some fresh air or sunshine year-round, not to mention the Village Garden where residents can grow flowers or vegetables, and there are paved walking paths around beautiful outdoor areas and gardens if someone enjoys being outside or just stretching their legs. The staff help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, transfers, and medication management, and there's 24-hour supervision for safety, with people to help if someone needs to move out of a bed or monitor their insulin, and the place is set up for folks who might have trouble getting around, offering non-ambulatory care and even short-term respite stays for those needing brief support or caregiver relief. There's a relaxed and friendly feeling here, and family or visitors get a warm welcome, with lots of social and community activities, sing-alongs, holiday meals, movie nights, tea parties, and groups for prayer or cards, plus free access to neighboring senior activity centers with swimming, exercise gear, pool tables, and clubs for hobbies-residents pretty much always find something to do. Inside, there's The Kitchen as the main dining spot with restaurant-style meals cooked by chef and meal planners-special diets like for diabetes are available-and you can eat in a comfortable dining room, with meals served all day, and folks who like to read will find a small library too. Pet lovers will be glad they can have their companions, and there's Wi-Fi, high-speed internet, parking, and easy transportation options. Activities aim to keep people moving and social, with a lively calendar, enrichment programs like IMPACT for wellness and mobility, and even some resident-run activities so folks can participate in the way they want, and you'll also find a barber/salon for grooming, emergency alert systems for safety, and housekeeping along with laundry to keep things tidy. The historic mansion gives the community an old-time charm but still has all the modern things needed for comfort, and apartments come with options like full kitchens, garages, walk-in closets, and even screened patios for those looking for privacy and autonomy, while common areas, cozy living rooms, and the community room make it easy to get together. Staff stay supportive and attentive, always aiming to help residents feel at home while making sure help is close by if it's ever needed.
