    Beautiful facility, attentive staff, recommended

I toured and moved a family member here and I'm very pleased. The facility is beautiful and modern with huge, comfortable rooms, a luxurious theater, salon, PT/OT, and nonstop activities (movies, bingo, exercise classes, country music nights). The staff-including Becky-are warm, professional and attentive, care is outstanding, meals are delicious, and the community feels clean, safe and family-like; I would recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Laurel Lodge elicits two distinct impression sets in the reviews: many families and residents praise the facility for its compassionate staff, strong clinical offerings, engaging activities, and attractive physical plant, while a separate set of concerns centers on operational consistency following ownership and management changes.

Care and staff: Numerous accounts describe caring, personable caregivers and clinical staff, with families noting attentive nursing, helpful techs, and effective therapy services (physical and occupational). This appears to contribute to a warm, family-like atmosphere for many residents. However, other reviewers report high staff turnover and intermittent understaffing, which reviewers linked to delays in assistance and uneven day-to-day care. There are also concerns about medication-administration processes and clinical oversight that warrant attention from leadership and clinical managers.

Dining and activities: Dining is frequently cited as a strength — residents and families describe enjoyable meals, special occasions with higher-end entrees, and generally capable kitchen staff. At the same time, other reviewers describe variability in meal quality and note removal of favored snacks and offerings after management changes. Activity programming is substantial when fully staffed: bingo, movies, exercise classes, music, and salon services are regular features, and residents appreciate the breadth of options. Some reviews indicate that activities have been reduced or inconsistent during certain management periods.

Facilities and amenities: The building and common areas receive positive comments for being modern, spacious, and well-appointed, including large living rooms, sizable dining areas, a salon, and a luxurious theater. Many reviewers praised maintenance responsiveness and the overall design. Opposing comments raise cleanliness and sanitation concerns in specific areas (for example, hallway odors, dusting, and trash removal), inconsistent laundry handling including missing or damaged personal items, and occasional localized maintenance lapses. Memory-care spaces are described as similar in layout to assisted living, which some families found helpful for transitions; others raised specific operational and safety concerns relating to memory-care bathing and furniture condition.

Management and patterns: A clear pattern emerges linking experience to leadership stability. Positive reviews often align with periods of engaged, responsive leadership and a stable team; negative reviews commonly reference an ownership change and subsequent executive turnover, with associated declines in staffing continuity, cleanliness, amenity availability, and communication. Several families explicitly called out poor administrative responsiveness and disorganized leadership during those periods, while other reviews note a later leadership turnaround and improvements under new management. Cost and value perceptions vary: some families find the pricing reasonable and flexible, while others report perceived price increases without commensurate service continuity.

Overall assessment: Prospective residents and families will find that Laurel Lodge offers many features valued in senior living — compassionate caregivers, strong therapy services, varied programming, modern facilities, and comfortable resident spaces. At the same time, the facility has experienced operational inconsistencies tied to management and staffing changes that have affected cleanliness, medication practices, activity availability, dining consistency, and communication. Visitors should assess the current leadership and staffing stability, ask for specific recent staffing and clinical-process information, review housekeeping and laundry procedures, and speak with current families about recent trends before making a placement decision.

About Laurel Lodge Assisted Living & Memory Care

Laurel Lodge Assisted Living & Memory Care is a senior living community offering assisted living and memory care services, and people can find information on their website, and there's a map location and options to schedule tours if you want to see the place or meet the staff and residents or ask about current prices and what might be available, and when visiting, you notice how the apartments come in different studio, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom setups with private bathrooms and kitchenettes, and they all have emergency call systems for safety, and though the bathrooms in some one-bedroom units feel a little small, the apartments are generally roomy and look comfortable. The building sits on well-kept grounds with trees, flower and vegetable gardens, and paved walking paths, so folks can go outside and enjoy a bit of fresh air, sit in the shaded courtyard, or take a stroll and maybe chat with friends, and there are indoor spaces too, like a bistro for coffee, a billiards room, a movie theater, and lounges for relaxing or reading in the library. Memory care residents live in a special Horizons neighborhood with built-in safety features like grab bars and emergency cords, which adds some peace of mind, and this part of the community is secured but feels open enough for movement and connection.

The staff at Laurel Lodge works together to give care that's suited to each person's needs, calling this a person-directed approach, and they're known to be attentive, knowing residents by name and even remembering their favorite foods, and residents get help with daily tasks, medication management, and even therapy or home health services when needed, and for those who served, they help with veterans benefits and long-term care planning. There's housekeeping with laundry, linens, and detailed cleaning every week, and the building is kept clean and safe. Dining options include three balanced meals a day, snacks, and even the Oaks Dining program that serves comfort foods and local favorites at tables where folks can choose to sit with friends, which encourages conversation. If family caregivers need a break, respite care is available for short stays, and residents who love animals will see a pet therapy program and might even bring their own pets since they're allowed here, as long as residents are 55 or older.

Life at Laurel Lodge stays lively through daily scheduled activities, outings, house gatherings, and exercise programs, and there's often entertainment and social events with local schoolchildren, singing groups, and presentations that help keep things interesting and connect all ages, and you sense people working to make the place warm and friendly, with staff promoting fall prevention and hydration, and always trying to foster dignity and independence. There are support groups for those who need them, and a salon and barbershop for personal care. Transportation is on hand for appointments or errands, and the common areas have been recently remodeled and feel pleasant, and all these touches together aim to create a safe, pleasant, and meaningful setting where people can be themselves and have a good day.
