    Bright updated campus, excellent staff

I live here and I'm very pleased - the campus is bright, updated, immaculately maintained, and the apartments are comfortable and well equipped. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable and long-tenured (Gina and Kevin stand out), therapy and maintenance are excellent, and the dining has great variety and portioning. A robust resident-led activities program, pleasant gardens, secure grounds and strong social connections give real peace of mind.

    Summary of reviews

The collection of reviews presents a mixed but informative picture of Westminster Village. Several reviewers emphasize strong elements of community life: long-tenured, attentive staff who are known by name, a robust activities program that encourages social interaction and exercise, and an on-site nursing and rehabilitation capability that families value for continuity of care. The facility's physical plant also receives frequent praise — recent remodels to dining rooms, library, and common areas, attractive gardens and walking paths, and generally well-kept apartments with practical features such as kitchens and walk-in closets.

Care experiences are varied. Many families highlight positive clinical services, including professional physical and occupational therapy and individualized exercise programs. The availability of an on-site nursing home and rehab is repeatedly cited as an important continuity-of-care advantage. At the same time, other reviewers describe inconsistency in day-to-day care responsiveness, with examples of slow call-button response times and perceptions that scheduling priorities sometimes favor staffing convenience over resident preference. There are also indications of perceived gaps in geriatric-specific training and clinical oversight that prospective families should explore directly with management.

Staff behavior and culture is a dividing theme. Positive comments point to compassionate, patient, and helpful staff members who go the extra mile and foster friendships among residents. Named staff received individual praise. Conversely, some reviewers raise concerns about staff professionalism and communication tone, and a few described rude interactions. Understaffing is referenced as a contributing factor to delays and to uneven service. Prospective residents should ask about staffing levels, staff training, and turnover during a visit.

Dining and activities are frequently noted as strengths but with occasional variability. Multiple reviewers praised the quantity, variety, and atmosphere of meals in remodeled dining areas, along with active programming and craft/exercise classes. Others reported inconsistent food quality or dissatisfaction with specific meals. Activity offerings appear broad and resident-led opportunities exist, which supports social engagement and independence for many residents.

Facility maintenance and campus layout present both advantages and challenges. The property is generally described as attractive and well-maintained, with secure access and peace-of-mind features. Maintenance staff receive positive mention for responsiveness. Yet some reviewers cite cleanliness or upkeep issues in particular common areas and describe the campus as large and spread-out, which can be tiring or logistically difficult for residents with limited mobility.

Administrative concerns recur in the reviews. Several comments point to fee and billing transparency issues and at least one example of unexpected monthly deductions; others describe marketing claims that did not align with their experience. These are operational items that warrant direct clarification — ask for an itemized fee schedule, sample contract, and written descriptions of services included versus extra-cost items.

Overall, Westminster Village appears to offer a well-appointed environment, active social life, and useful clinical services that many families appreciate. However, there are recurring operational themes—staffing consistency, responsiveness, cleanliness in specific areas, billing transparency, and geriatric training—that produce variable experiences. Recommended next steps for prospective residents: schedule multiple visits at different times of day, observe meal service and activities, request staffing ratios and training information, review the contract and fee schedule in detail, and inquire about private-room availability and call-button response metrics.

    About Westminster Village

Westminster Village has been around since 1979, sitting on a 40-acre campus with mature trees and landscaped grounds where you can hear birds singing and you'll see gardens and outdoor patios that bring in fresh air, and it's a locally owned, not-for-profit place with a Board of Directors who live in the community. There are many different ways to live here, like studio apartments, single-room units, semi-private rooms, and even two-bedroom layouts, plus The Willows duplexes if you want a little more space. Some apartments have full-size kitchens, washer and dryer, balconies or patios, individually controlled heating and cooling, and room for your own furniture because they keep the decor neutral, and bigger rooms often have walk-in closets, kitchenettes, and private bathrooms. There's free on-site parking, so families can come and go easily, and overnight guests are allowed when you want them to stay.

People get meals every day in a large cafeteria or a community dining room, and there's tasty food and chances to eat with friends. There's a lot to do, with offsite activities, field trips, games, hobbies, crafts, fitness and wellness programs, and religious services right on-site, plus pet therapy, activity therapy, and even exercise classes. You get laundry for linens, in-house laundry and drycleaning, help with housekeeping, and maintenance so things keep running. They'll remind you to take your medicine or even give it to you if you need help, and a nurse-though part-time-along with the rest of the care team, keeps an eye on your health, with on-site skilled nursing, memory care, and Alzheimer's care if you need it, which is helpful for people with different needs.

Westminster Village offers a continuum of care as a Continuing Care Retirement Community, so independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing are all on the same wide campus, and you can get personal care, meal prep, and even shopping help without leaving. Scheduled physical and occupational therapist visits happen regularly, plus there's on-site therapy services, so you don't have to travel far to stay strong and steady. Residents can count on general transportation services-it's free-if they need to go out, and field trips and outings are organized, too. There are wellness programs to keep people active, and spiritual, cultural, and recreational programs to feed the mind and spirit.

Special units and services have their own names, like The Willows for duplex residents, and memory care areas are set aside for people with Alzheimer's, offering more specialized staff-staff holding licenses and insurance's accepted as payment. Salon services, haircuts, and barber visits are on-site as well, so no one has to travel to look nice, and when you want to be outdoors, the courtyard units and lounges give you options to get some sun or see the gardens. With over 40 years' experience, Westminster Village keeps a variety of living and care options under one roof, letting residents move to higher care levels if they need to, and it's all done with a goal of supporting active living and personal choice.
