    Excellent rehab, caring family-run staff

I chose Buckingham over three other nursing homes and I'm very pleased with the caring, attentive staff and family-run, homey atmosphere. Rehab/PT were excellent - my mother-in-law recovered from knee surgery and regained mobility - and nursing, social work (Jannette) and Executive Director Eric kept us informed with regular doctor visits and clear communication. Rooms and grounds are clean and roomy, meals good, activities engaging, and I feel confident she'll be happy here.

    Summary of reviews

Buckingham Pavilion presents a mixed but overall favorable picture for families seeking nursing and rehabilitation services. The facility is repeatedly praised for its clinical strengths: compassionate nursing and certified nursing assistant teams, effective wound and medical care, and a well-regarded physical/occupational therapy program that supports rapid post-operative recovery and functional gains. Reviewers frequently described staff who treated residents with dignity, addressed clinical issues promptly, and worked in coordinated teams to support mobility and independence.

Staffing and relational aspects are a core strength. Families and residents consistently highlight warm, attentive interactions across clinical and support staff, and several named individuals (social work and leadership) drew specific praise for advocacy and clear support during transitions. The social work presence and an active activities department contribute to a family-like atmosphere; on-site programming includes arts and crafts, exercise classes, outings, performances, a library, and theater resources that many residents and families found engaging and restorative.

Dining and cultural accommodations are notable positives: the kitchen provides dietary options, including culturally specific and kosher-friendly choices, and many reviewers found meals appetizing and handled dietary restrictions well. That said, there is variability in perceived meal quality — while many found the food good, other comments indicate occasional lapses in consistency.

Facility condition and operations show a mix. Grounds and common areas are described as clean and well-kept, and rooms are often described as spacious and bright; however, reviewers also pointed to an aging interior on upper floors and maintenance needs that should be addressed. Operational weaknesses appear most often around administrative access and communication — front-desk intake, phone etiquette, and initial information-sharing were commonly called out as areas needing improvement. Several families described complex admission and financing paperwork, and a subset noted intermittent administrative unresponsiveness.

Care delivery shows patterns of high-quality individualized attention alongside variability in responsiveness. While many accounts describe timely, dignified care and strong clinical oversight, others describe inconsistent responsiveness among individual staff members and occasional gaps in personal-care scheduling (for example, inconsistent shower/bathing timing). These pattern-level issues suggest variability in staffing consistency and handoff/communication practices rather than a uniform standard of poor care.

In summary, Buckingham Pavilion appears to deliver solid clinical and rehabilitative care within a warm, family-oriented environment, supported by strong social work and activities programming. Prospective residents and families should weigh these strengths against operational considerations: ask targeted questions about intake and phone contacts, clarify admission and financing steps in advance, and assess the current state of the specific unit or floor for any maintenance concerns. For families prioritizing rehabilitation outcomes, compassionate bedside care, and an active social program, Buckingham Pavilion emerges as a strong candidate; those prioritizing consistently punctual administrative processes and uniformly modern facilities should seek specific assurances during tour and intake discussions.

About Buckingham Pavilion Nursing and Rehabilitation

Buckingham Pavilion Nursing and Rehabilitation has been caring for older adults since 1975, and the place gives you a lot of things to make life easier and more comfortable, like cable TV in the rooms, washers and dryers, internet, and both private and semi-private rooms with bathrooms, some with showers or baths, beds that adjust, and daily housekeeping, plus linen and laundry services, and you get to control your own heating and cooling which is helpful. The building's got important safety features like sprinkler systems, and it's made easy to get around for folks with wheelchairs or other mobility needs, and staff make sure there's help with walking, bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and managing medications, and there's personal care assistants around the clock, nurses and aides always on duty, and doctors come in to provide checkups and medical care including podiatry, wound care, respiratory care, and diabetes management, and you'll see therapists for things like physical, speech, and occupational rehab if you need them. The meals get good reviews, probably because the place uses quality ingredients and does tasty options, and everything's fully kosher, plus there are always snacks available and a comfortable dining room, and the community runs all kinds of activities, from art and music to group fitness classes, card games, live performances, and education programs, and there's a movie theater, ice cream parlor, arts and crafts studio, health club, salons, library, shops, and a synagogue for those who want services, and you can have guests park easily. For memory care, folks with Alzheimer's or dementia have their own rooms and monitoring so there's less confusion and wandering, with activities and routines that help them feel more at ease. The place is big on making sure people keep their dignity and independence, and staff get to know the residents, keeping families in the loop and working to make everyone feel respected, and if anyone needs help after a hospital stay, or short-term rehab, or even wants care at home with the home health or hospice options, they'll work with that, too. It's a privately run, Medicare and Medicaid approved center, and you'll find nurses and helpers available 24/7 no matter what level of care you need, from assisted living to skilled care and long-term nursing, and folks can choose to join religious or community activities or relax with the many on-site amenities, and you might even see someone enjoying a treat from the bakery or stopping by the beauty shop, so it's a busy, warm place where people can get most of what they need under one roof.
