    Excellent compassionate memory care facility

I placed my mom here and I'm very satisfied. Staff are professional, kind and compassionate-they treated her like a queen; therapy and the memory-care team are excellent and gentle. The facility is spotless, meals are very good, activities and amenities (outdoor space, TV lounges, gym/PT) are great, and staff/maintenance are responsive-I would recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews present a mixed picture: many accounts praise the facility's amenities, therapy services, and compassionate staff, while other accounts raise substantive operational and safety concerns. Overall, Liberty Village of Jerseyville is described by families as an attractive, activity-rich facility with strong therapy and memory-care capabilities, but with identifiable inconsistencies in day-to-day clinical and managerial practices.

Care quality and clinical services draw both strong praise and notable criticism. Several families highlighted excellent, motivating physical-therapy services and staff who take a gentle, encouraging approach to rehabilitation. At the same time, there are descriptions that suggest gaps in clinical responsiveness and follow-up care, including delayed attention and missed care tasks that carry increased risk for pressure injuries and other adverse outcomes. Reviews also suggest weaknesses in transfer and resident-safety practices that warrant further investigation by prospective families.

Staffing and communication are areas of mixed performance. Numerous reviewers commend staff as friendly, professional, and compassionate; others describe inconsistent conduct and disappointing responsiveness. Communication with families is uneven: some accounts describe good teamwork and proactive updates, while others report poor family notification, ignored clinical instructions, and a perceived lack of ownership when incidents occur. These contrasts point to variability in staff training, oversight, or shift-level leadership.

Dining and activities are among the facility's clearer strengths. The community is said to offer a wide range of daily activities, festive events, and reasonably large activity spaces, as well as pleasant common areas and outdoor spaces. Many reviewers appreciated home-style, cooked meals and an active calendar; however, meal quality appears variable across reports, suggesting inconsistency in kitchen performance or meal-service continuity.

Facility condition and sanitation present a generally positive impression tempered by isolated concerns. The building, apartments, and grounds are frequently described as attractive and well maintained, with responsive maintenance staff. A subset of reviews raises sanitation and odor-control concerns in certain areas and notes occasional shortages of basic hygiene supplies, indicating that cleanliness standards may vary between units or shifts.

Management and operational leadership emerge as recurring themes tied to both positive and negative feedback. Praise for accommodating staff and good infection-control adaptations (for example, facilitated window visits and staff-assisted calling during COVID restrictions) coexist with criticisms about administrative decisions, perceived inconsistencies in policy enforcement, and cost. Some families expressed strong concerns about accountability after adverse events; one review referenced concerns following a resident's death, which merits attention from prospective residents and families and may require follow-up with regulatory records.

Recommendation: Prospective residents and families should weigh the facility's strong therapy program, active lifestyle offerings, and pleasant environment against reports of inconsistent caregiving, communication gaps, and occasional sanitation or safety issues. A targeted tour that includes the memory-care unit, observation of staff–resident interactions, review of clinical policies (transfer safety, wound care, staffing ratios), and direct questions about meal consistency, hygiene-supply protocols, and recent incident resolution would help clarify whether the facility's strengths align with a particular resident's needs.

    About Liberty Village of Jerseyville

Liberty Village of Jerseyville, located at 1251 N State St, Jerseyville, IL, offers a range of living options and care services for older adults, and if you walk through the campus you'll notice there's the Hawthorne Inn for assisted living, independent Villas homes, and Manor Court where skilled nursing takes place, plus there's a separate area called Memory Lane for people who need support with memory loss or confusion from Alzheimer's or dementia, and that section has features to help reduce wandering and keep residents safe, while the staff help with daily living activities if needed, and over at AJ's Fitness Center you'll see some strength and endurance equipment for people who like to move around and keep active, and the Bounce Back Rehabilitation program is there as well to help folks recover strength and daily skills after illness or injury. The community serves people who want active independent living, those needing some help, and those needing round-the-clock skilled nursing-so it's kind of all in one place, and you'll find apartments and Villas duplexes for seniors looking for a social, maintenance-free lifestyle, and inside Hawthorne Inn there's both retirement apartments and assisted living support, with cheerful staff who help out and answer questions, and the whole place is designed so residents can join group activities for social, physical, and mental engagement, while chefs and meal planners take care of the food. The Memory Lane program focuses on keeping people's minds active just as much as their bodies. There's home care available too for those who prefer companionship and help from aides without moving. Liberty Village of Jerseyville has been recognized with awards like Best of Senior Living and All Star-which folks might mention as a sign that the staff are friendly and helpful-but more important, people say the atmosphere is warm and supportive, and everyone gets treated kindly whether they're living there or just visiting. The buildings and entrance are accessible, but there's not much detail available about interior finishes, parking, or outdoor features, so some people ask to take a tour to see for themselves, and the facility can explain what they do for emergency readiness in case something unexpected happens, which gives people peace of mind. Laws protect all residents here, including people from LGBTQ+ communities, and there are rules in place so no one faces discrimination for who they are or how they pay. The office staff is around to answer questions or show families around most days from 8 in the morning until 5 in the evening, Monday through Saturday. Amenities like AJ's Fitness Center and group activities aim to help folks stay well, but there aren't detailed lists of every amenity or service, and details about utilities or parking are left unspecified, yet the focus seems to stay on safety, well-being, and supporting people at all different levels of care.
