    Comfortable, clean, homey, compassionate staff

I'm very pleased with Laurel in Lake in the Hills - my mom is comfortable and smiling in a lovely, clean room with a private bath and a social living room in a warm, home-like setting. The compassionate, attentive staff treat residents like family, offer personal touches (hair/makeup, friendly help), run engaging activities, and serve delicious homemade meals.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews portray Arden Rose Senior Living as a small, home-like assisted living community with a consistent emphasis on personalized attention, cleanliness, and resident comfort. Families and visitors describe a welcoming environment where staff are visible, responsive, and attentive to individual appearance and small needs, creating a strong sense of hominess and trust.

Care and staff: The facility is characterized by compassionate, hands-on staff who provide individualized attention. Reviewers highlight staff availability, personal gestures (for example, assistance with grooming and personal presentation), and a tone of warmth that contributes to residents feeling treated like family. Staffing is described as engaged and present in common areas, which supports both safety and social interaction.

Dining and services: Dining is commonly noted as a strength. Meals are described as homemade and flavorful, with pleasant aromas and a focus on quality. Combined with attentive service, dining appears to be an important contributor to resident satisfaction.

Activities and social life: Arden Rose offers a visible, active calendar of daily activities and an inviting social living room. The programming and intimate setting are perceived as welcoming and consistent with a smaller-scale community. A notable pattern is a desire for higher resident-to-resident conversational engagement; while activities are offered and staffed, some reviewers observed that not all residents participate equally, which can limit social interaction for certain individuals.

Facilities and environment: Cleanliness and maintenance are repeatedly emphasized. Private rooms with private bathrooms and comfortable common areas are described positively. The intimate scale of the facility supports a family-like atmosphere but may also constrain the diversity of social contacts available to residents.

Management and patterns: Management and frontline staff receive positive mentions for customer service and creating a warm first impression. The dominant themes are individualized attention, cleanliness, and an active but small-scale social program. Areas for potential improvement include strategies to increase peer-to-peer engagement and targeted outreach to residents who are less socially active, to ensure the community’s intimate size does not unintentionally limit social opportunities.

Bottom line: Arden Rose presents as a well-maintained, resident-centered assisted living option with strengths in caregiving, dining, and atmosphere. Prospective residents and families who prioritize a small, personal environment and attentive staff are likely to find the community appealing; those seeking a larger, more socially diverse population should consider whether the facility’s intimate scale aligns with their social preferences.

About Arden Rose Senior Living, Inc.

Arden Rose Senior Living, Inc. sits at 700 E Oak St in Lake in the Hills, Illinois, and offers assisted living, independent living, memory care, nursing home care, and short-term respite care for seniors in areas including Schaumburg, Elgin, Lombard, Naperville, Roselle, and Elk Grove Village, and you'll notice when you step inside that each home only has up to 16 residents, which helps keep things quieter and lets staff know each person well. They help with dressing, bathing, getting around, taking medicine and making sure people eat right and on time, and the caregivers help people with Alzheimer's and dementia not wander off, stay safe, and get special attention to slow down memory loss and lower stress. The staff includes people like Barb Cihak, who's a Client Care Manager and medical assistant; Melinda Ruschke, the Care Coordinator, who has over 10 years working in healthcare and has experience in dementia care from caring for family; Rebecca Donze, Director of Sales & Marketing, who's spent 20 years managing long-term care; and Director of Community Relations Tanya Frost, who's worked with seniors with dementia, all of them under the leadership of Kaylee Newman, a registered nurse with 10 years of experience, and Laurel Sorenson, a nurse with over 20 years working with older adults, who own and run the community with a family touch.

They fit each care plan to the person, so folks get what they really need, whether it's physical therapy, rehab, managing incontinence, help after surgery, or daily help with moving about, bathing, dressing, or taking pills, and they keep watch 24 hours a day, plus offer walking and wheelchair help and allow people to move in even if they can't get around easily. You get three home-cooked meals every day with snacks, and you can ask for special diets if you need them, and rooms have kitchenettes, cable TV, and walk-in showers to make daily life easier, and you'll also see the property provides extras like laundry and dry cleaning, housecleaning, a dining room, game and activity spaces, a fireplace, lounge, library, spa/wellness room, salon/barbershop, guest parking, and fast internet. Safety stays on their minds with sprinkler systems, emergency alert setups, and rooms meant for walkers and wheelchairs, and staff provide medication management along with help for everyone who needs it. Caregivers speak English and go through checks before working here, and they aim to show compassion and respect for every resident, focusing on letting people stay as independent as they can.

There's a therapy room on-site for recovering from illness or falls, and activities like arts and crafts, movie nights, group learning, and health programs go on all the time so people can stay engaged and not feel alone, and low staff-to-resident numbers help make things more personal, with caregivers able to build friendships with people. Arden Rose prices its services at one all-inclusive rate to make it clear for families-there are no extra care level fees stacked up later. The place looks modern since it's a newer development, but it's meant to feel cozy, safe, and easy to navigate, and the aim is to give seniors a comfortable spot where they can live with dignity and get any level of help they might need-whether it's for a few weeks of rehab, specialized memory care, or daily support with what it takes just to get through a day.
