    Warm, clean, secure, caring community

I toured the small memory-care community and felt immediately at home - warm, very clean, with comfy porches, a secure courtyard, and flowers everywhere. Staff were caring, attentive, and treated residents like family; the nurses and CNAs were helpful and communicative, activities are regular, and meals looked appealing. Overall I'm very satisfied and would recommend it to families.

    Summary of reviews

1019 Belle's Place of Crawfordsville presents a mix of strong environmental and relational strengths alongside notable operational and management concerns. Many reviewers emphasize a clean, home-like setting with welcoming common areas and pleasant smells; rooms and studio apartments are described as well maintained and attractively furnished. The facility is small in scale, which several families and staff characterize as contributing to a family-like atmosphere and individualized attention.

Staff and care quality receive generally positive comments for day-to-day interactions: caregivers are frequently described as compassionate, patient, and engaged, with some families noting staff who go above and beyond and long staff tenure that supports continuity of relationships. The memory-care approach is often characterized by personalized engagement and redirection techniques to manage agitation, and some families feel residents are treated like family. However, there is variability in clinical outcomes and behavioral management in the memory unit. A subset of families reported incidents where resident agitation led to emergency care, which points to inconsistent dementia-care approaches and occasional gaps in clinical oversight.

Dining and activity programming are frequently praised. Reviewers note an appealing menu and attractive dining rooms (tablecloths, flowers, fireplace), along with an active activities calendar that includes bingo, exercise, church services, and outings. The facility’s secure outdoor spaces and patios are seen as additional positive features that support resident quality of life. Several remarks also highlight pet-friendliness and purposeful, hobby-focused spaces.

Facilities are described as small but comfortable; the compact layout helps create intimacy but also produces circulation challenges. Multiple reviewers mentioned congested hallways and a nurses’ station location that can make navigation with walkers or mobility aids awkward. Staffing is described as friendly and organized but, at times, constrained—staff appear busy and some families perceive limits to staff availability during peak demands.

Management, administration, and communication are the clearest areas of concern. Families described inconsistent communication, incomplete follow-through on agreed plans, and a lack of formal documentation or responsiveness from leadership. There are also concerns about financial and discharge practices, including unclear refund and termination procedures and inconsistencies in billing and medication charges. An ownership transition was noted by some reviewers, with critiques that operational problems persisted despite the change in ownership. Taken together, these patterns indicate gaps in leadership accountability, documentation transparency, and certain clinical and administrative processes.

For prospective residents and families, the facility’s strengths include a warm, clean environment, personable staff, engaging activities, and an appealing dining experience. Those prioritizing strong, consistently documented administrative practices, transparent billing/refund policies, and robust, uniform dementia-care protocols should seek clarifications in writing before admission—specifically regarding discharge rules, medication administration and billing procedures, and how behavioral incidents are managed and communicated to families.

About 1019 Belle's Place of Crawfordsville

1019 Belle's Place of Crawfordsville sits at 100 Bickford Lane, and the building has 28 apartment units in it, so it isn't too big but isn't small either, and has both assisted living and memory care for older adults, including those dealing with Alzheimer's or dementia, and the staff includes Certified Dementia Practitioners trained to handle memory care challenges. The team works around the clock, day and night, and helps residents with things like bathing, dressing, taking medicine, and even laundry. The care offered spans basically every level, from Independent Living through Home Care, Adult Day Services, Skilled Nursing, and even Hospice, so somebody can get a lot of different support under one roof. The community is family-owned and cares about creating a warm, respectful culture, with a special mission to honor veterans, and there's a Wall of Honor there with tributes to people who've served in the armed forces. Memory Care residents have their own themed suites, featuring nautical bedding, cozy chairs, a TV, kitchenette, window views, and some personalized touches, and the whole place is set up to be comfortable and safe, with things like walk-in tubs, safety bars, and a resident monitoring system. Residents can sit outside on bright cushioned chairs and enjoy the flowers, or gather inside in the living room by the fireplace, or in sunlit sitting areas filled with plants, popcorn machines, and big windows. People eat together in an elegant dining room with tables decked out with linens, real place settings, and fresh flowers, and there's a beauty parlor set aside for salon services, so folks can get their hair done or just catch up with friends in a nice chair. Pets are welcome, and transportation is available, and for those looking for spiritual care, that's covered too. Staff helps with activities of daily living and provides special programs and therapeutic activities to keep minds sharp. There's a focus on people feeling like they're part of an extended family, both residents and staff, and every day is planned with the idea that each moment matters. The building's got fire safety systems, emergency communication, 24-hour staff, open common living spaces, an activity and recreation center, and plenty of natural light. Housekeeping supports everybody, and the memory care residents get special attention tailored just to them, so they have what they need to be safe and stay comfortable. 1019 Belle's Place of Crawfordsville has been open since 2007 and the website is 1019seniorliving.com/crawfordsville-in if anybody wants to read more.
