    Compassionate responsive care clean facility

I'm very pleased with Paoli Health and Living - the staff are consistently kind, attentive and responsive (call button answered quickly), therapists provided effective rehab, and nurses/CNAs are compassionate and helpful. The facility is clean, smells fine, serves good meals, and offers regular activities that keep residents engaged; administration communicates well and goes above and beyond. I feel my loved one is well cared for and I would choose and recommend this place again.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews of Paoli Health & Living Community present a mixed picture: many families and observers praise the direct-care staff, therapy services, and activity programming, while others identify operational and quality-control problems that affect day-to-day resident experience. The facility receives frequent commendation for its frontline caregivers and therapy teams; these staff are described as compassionate, helpful, and effective in rehabilitation and short-term recovery. Several accounts highlight prompt responses to call buttons, positive reception and administrative interactions, and activities that keep residents socially engaged.

Care quality appears uneven. Positive reports emphasize attentive CNAs, caring nurses, and strong therapy outcomes; these contributors are frequently credited with creating a supportive environment that families find reassuring. At the same time, reviewers describe patterns consistent with inconsistent staffing and turnover that can produce variability in how care tasks are completed. Concerns include medication-administration errors, delays or gaps in personal-care and grooming, and instances where discharge planning or transport arrangements were not fully coordinated. These operational weaknesses suggest uneven application of clinical and transition protocols.

Dining and facility maintenance are similarly mixed. Several reviewers complimented meal service and staff who go above and beyond, but other comments identify sanitation and pest-control concerns, intermittent cleanliness issues in units and common areas, and occasional problems with room phones or other equipment. These contrasts suggest that housekeeping and food-service quality may be inconsistent across shifts or units rather than uniformly strong or weak.

Activities and social engagement are consistently noted as strengths. Multiple reviews cite regular programming, visible resident smiles, and an enjoyable atmosphere for residents who participate. This is an area where the facility appears to invest successfully in resident quality of life.

Management and organizational themes recur across reviews. Some families praise an active administrator and responsive reception staff, while others describe variable management responsiveness, communication tone issues, and a need for stronger oversight in areas such as staffing levels, medication controls, and property safeguards. There are also references to regulatory attention and formal complaints; prospective families should inquire about recent inspection findings and corrective actions.

For prospective residents and families: visit at varied times of day, ask about current staffing ratios, medication-safety protocols, housekeeping and pest-control processes, discharge and transport procedures, and how the facility secures and documents resident belongings. Meet the therapy team and activity coordinator to confirm program fit. The facility shows clear strengths in direct care, therapy, and activities, but those strengths coexist with operational inconsistencies that merit specific questions and verification during a tour and reference checks.

About Paoli Health & Living Community

Paoli Health & Living Community sits in a quiet neighborhood in Paoli, Indiana, and offers a range of care options for older adults, so if you're looking for help with daily life or more advanced medical needs, this place can manage both. The community covers assisted living, memory care, independent living, and adult care home options, and you'll find skilled nursing, short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, on-site dialysis, and specialized therapy programs from expert nurses, therapists, dietitians, and certified nursing assistants. People get assistance with bathing, dressing, taking medicines, and other daily activities, and there's 24-hour supervision, wheelchair access, and call systems in the rooms if help is needed right away.

Residents have furnished rooms and can expect regular housekeeping, laundry services, and help moving in, which families sometimes appreciate. For meals, there's a dining room with restaurant-style choices, plus special menus for diabetes or food allergies, and you'll see all-day dining if someone prefers eating at their own time, with a professional chef making the food. The facility accepts Medicaid and Medicare to help with costs, and families can get support and advice about care planning, too.

There's a steady schedule of activities, like fitness classes, movie nights, outdoor walks through the garden, game room fun, music, and even arts and crafts in dedicated rooms, plus scheduled transportation if residents want to go out in the area or need to see a doctor. The library, fitness room, and wellness or spa room give everyone something to do, and Wi-Fi helps people stay connected online and with family. The community encourages residents to start their own groups or events if they want, and you'll see events happening on campus regularly-people even keep in touch with each other and their families through social media features like Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger.

Safety and health remain the main focus, so medical assessments and family input shape each resident's care plan, and staff know the procedures for emergencies. The place is known locally as a landmark with some history, and many people here like the simple, family-first feeling that comes from seeing the same caregivers and neighbors day after day. Folks who live at Paoli Health & Living Community get a wide mix of help and things to do, and there's a real effort to make sure everyone feels welcome, safe, and part of the community.
