    Attentive staff, clean facility, engaging

I'm very pleased with the care my relative receives - the staff are attentive, kind, and welcoming, the facility is clean and well-kept, and the new chef is amazing. Therapy (including stroke rehab) and an engaged activities director keep residents active; I'm grateful and would recommend this place to other families.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews of Randolph Nursing & Rehabilitation show a mixture of positive experiences and significant operational concerns. On the positive side, many accounts describe compassionate, attentive direct-care staff, a clean and well-maintained building, an engaged activities program, and effective rehabilitation services (including stroke therapy). Several reviewers described a welcoming, family-like culture and frequent staff checks on residents. Dining received recent praise tied to a new chef and noted improvements in meal quality.

Care quality perceptions are mixed. Positive narratives emphasize gentle, grateful interactions and successful therapy outcomes. However, other accounts point to variability in clinical response and medication management, including concerns about timeliness and appropriateness of treatments. Staffing shortages—particularly among CNAs—were linked to longer response times for personal-care needs and toileting assistance. These staffing and responsiveness gaps appear to contribute to inconsistent experiences of care across shifts.

Staff behavior and communication also present a split picture. Many families found staff friendly and kind, while others described issues with tone, disrespectful interactions, and poor responsiveness by phone (long hold times and disconnected calls). These communication shortfalls extend to family access and outreach; prospective families may want to clarify how the facility manages family communication and phone responsiveness.

Facility infrastructure and management show strengths and weaknesses. The physical environment is generally described as clean and well-kept, but specific environmental comfort problems were noted (for example, heating in resident rooms). There are also references to serious incidents and ongoing regulatory scrutiny; these references suggest potential gaps in incident response, documentation, and compliance processes that warrant further inquiry.

Notable patterns across the reviews point to variability tied to staffing and management processes: when staffing and clinical oversight are adequate, reviewers report compassionate, effective care and good therapy outcomes; when staffing is thin or communication processes falter, families report delays in assistance, inconsistent clinical decision-making, and frustration with access. For families considering this facility, recommended inquiries include current staffing ratios, clinical oversight and medication-management practices, recent inspection findings or corrective actions, incident-reporting procedures, and opportunities to observe staff–resident interactions and activity programming during a visit.

    About Randolph Nursing & Rehabilitation

Randolph Nursing & Rehabilitation is in Winchester, Indiana, and has 94 licensed beds, offering care for people who need a lot of nursing help, sometimes after surgery, injury, or serious illness, though some people live there for longer periods when everyday life needs more support than they can get at home, and the staff focuses on skilled nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy to help folks recover strength and independence. The facility is Medicare and Medicaid certified, and can provide care for people with memory loss; the memory care area has safety features like warning systems to alert staff if someone leaves, a secure outdoor space, and the staff gets special training in helping people with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia. You'll find a full list of services here, including dietary and housekeeping support, pharmacy service, laboratory and x-ray access, mental health assistance, dental care, podiatric services, and social work, along with organized activities for residents and spaces meant for gathering together in a community. Randolph Nursing & Rehabilitation provides both short-term rehabilitation and long-term residential care, and the center tries to create a warm, comfortable place where people can feel part of a group, with skilled staff dedicated to treating everyone with compassion. Residents can get services tailored to their situation, whether that's ongoing nursing care, help after a hospital stay, therapy to get back on their feet, or support for memory-related needs. The facility scored 3.6 out of 9 reviews, showing some mixed but generally fair feedback from people who have used its services. The building has modern rehabilitation spaces, and respite care is available, so it's possible for caregivers to take a break while their loved one stays in a safe environment. Although there's not a lot more public information shared by the facility about itself, it's mostly clear that Randolph Nursing & Rehabilitation aims to provide a variety of health services for seniors and those who need extra help in day-to-day life.
