I moved my mom here and have been very pleased. Staff are friendly, proactive and genuinely caring-nurses coordinate with doctors and quickly learned her needs-so the admission was smooth. The place is clean, updated and home-like with excellent dining (including an ice cream parlor), abundant activities, and amenities like a movie theater, pub, gym and in-unit laundry. Strong medical support and attentive caregivers give our family real peace of mind; I'd recommend a tour.

Summary of reviews
Oak Park Place Dubuque presents as a well‑appointed, community‑oriented senior living campus with a broad set of amenities and an active social calendar. Reviewers consistently highlight the facility’s common spaces and recreational offerings — a movie theater, pub, ice cream parlor, gym, sunrooms, and several community rooms — which support frequent activities such as bingo, music, sewing/quilt groups, holiday events, Mass and other religious services. Residents and families commonly describe a lively, social atmosphere and many opportunities for engagement and outings, aided by on‑site transportation.
Staff characteristics are a major strength in many accounts: employees are frequently described as friendly, compassionate, proactive during move‑ins, and readily engaged with families. Multiple reviews praise the dining staff and an on‑site chef, and many residents appreciate the availability of full kitchens, washer/dryer units in apartments, weekly housekeeping, and private outdoor or balcony spaces. Memory‑care programming is often noted as well organized and secure, and the facility’s transition assistance and room‑hold flexibility are seen as helpful by families.
However, recurring operational concerns appear across reviews. Staffing levels and turnover are cited as ongoing issues that affect hands‑on care and responsiveness; examples include inconsistent bathing schedules and limited time for staff to spend with residents. There are also concerns about medication administration and clinical‑task oversight; one or more reviews describe serious clinical‑safety concerns, including an allegation involving medication administration and monitoring, which families should explore further with management and regulators. Housekeeping duties are sometimes performed by care staff rather than dedicated housekeeping personnel, which has contributed to variability in room cleanliness and service timing.
Dining receives mixed evaluations: while many note improved food quality, customization options, and friendly dining staff, others describe hit‑or‑miss meal experiences and a desire for broader menu variety. The physical plant is generally well regarded for cleanliness and modern apartments, but some reviewers point to visible maintenance needs in parts of the campus (older carpeting, decks needing power washing, and lighting upgrades) that would benefit from targeted refreshes. Activity programming is extensive and popular, but a number of families would like more specialized offerings and better integration between independent and assisted living to increase cross‑level socialization.
Management responsiveness is a mixed picture: several reviews praise proactive leadership, helpful admission processes, and responsiveness to feedback, while others reference periods of administrative turnover or temporary gaps in activity leadership that affected programming. Prospective residents and families will find much to recommend in Oak Park Place Dubuque’s social life, amenities, and many caring staff, but should also ask specific questions during tours about current staffing levels, clinical oversight protocols (medication administration and monitoring), housekeeping responsibilities, and any scheduled maintenance or upgrade plans to ensure the campus meets their care and safety expectations.
