    Mom settled, happy, cared for

I placed my mom at Andover Court and I'm very pleased - she feels right at home, has made many friends, and stays busy with events like ice cream socials and weekly bingo. The staff (Nurse Liz and Tammy especially) are caring and attentive, the facility is spotless with good meals and helpful housekeeping/maintenance, and the convenient, community-focused atmosphere gives our family real peace of mind.

    Summary of reviews

Andover Court elicits a mix of strong positives and recurring operational concerns. Many families and residents describe a warm, home-like atmosphere supported by compassionate nursing and caregiving staff. Multiple comments highlight staff who know residents’ preferences, proactive family communication, and an open-door approach that encourages family involvement. The community is frequently described as socially active: residents form friendships, a community council provides a resident feedback channel, and a broad activities calendar (bingo, socials, outings, ice cream events, YMCA membership) contributes to engagement and quality of life.

Clinical and direct-care quality shows variability. Several reviewers praised nursing staff and noted improved clinical levels for specific residents, but others reported delays in medication administration and inconsistent follow-through on personal-care needs. In several accounts, family members had to assist with personal-care tasks; these comments point to operational gaps in caregiving responsiveness and consistency rather than isolated interpersonal problems. The use of agency staff and turnover driven by compensation issues were cited as contributors to uneven day-to-day care continuity.

Dining and ancillary services present a split picture. The facility provides three meals daily with choices and on-site services such as a beauty shop and visiting podiatrist; some reviewers applauded an excellent chef and improved dining after additional staffing. Conversely, other reviewers raised concerns about cold or overcooked food and chef turnover, indicating variability in meal quality tied to kitchen staffing stability. Transportation services are available, but last-minute cancellations and scheduling unreliability were noted and represent a practical concern for residents who depend on facility transport for medical appointments.

Facilities and location are generally seen as strengths. Reviewers describe clean, well-maintained rooms and grounds, convenient proximity to a hospital and family, and practical amenities (laundry, maintenance responsiveness). COVID-era access limitations were mentioned historically but did not appear to be an ongoing structural issue in recent comments.

Management and billing show mixed impressions. Some families praised administrative efficiency during admissions and timely reimbursements; others reported mid-cycle increases in care-level charges and care-level assignments without clear communication. Leadership turnover and a departing general manager were also noted, which may be related to the staffing and operational inconsistencies highlighted above. Finally, the facility’s payer mix is a practical limitation for some prospective residents: Medicaid is not accepted.

Overall, Andover Court presents as a community with strong social programming, attentive and caring staff in many instances, and solid physical upkeep. Prospective residents and families should weigh those strengths against recurring operational issues: staffing stability, medication and personal-care consistency, dining variability, transportation reliability, and clarity around billing and care-level changes. Verifying current staffing patterns, medication-management protocols, transportation policies, and billing practices during a tour or meeting with leadership would help families assess whether the facility’s current operations align with their expectations and care needs.
