The Springs at Stony Brook stands as a two-story senior living community that offers several types of care on a single campus, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, adult day care, and rehabilitation services, and they don't accept Medicaid or Medicare but do take Long Term Care Insurance and Veterans Benefits, and they have 24-hour awake staff with a doctor on call and help always nearby. The community takes care of residents who need help with daily activities or memory support, and they make sure nutritious meals are made for everyone, there are always indoor common spaces to gather, and there's a whole calendar of activities, exercise, and enrichment programs to keep people busy and social, while a team that's well-trained provides personal and medical care around the clock. Housing choices include private suites, studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments, many with kitchenettes or full kitchens and large windows, and the memory care suites have cozy beds, recliners, and residents' own decorations to make things feel safe and familiar. There's a therapy room set up for rehab, a fitness center with treadmills and weights, a movie theater with comfortable plush seats, a dining room with blue and white linens and chandeliers, and an activity room full of games, art supplies, and a TV, all meant to give everyone different spots to enjoy each day. The community uses a continuing care model so people can move to higher levels of support as needs change, from independent living, where residents have their own apartments and come together for meals and activities, to assisted living or memory care, with built-in help for bathing, dressing, and taking medications, plus skilled nursing care and short-term rehab if that's needed. Residents enjoy housekeeping and laundry services, and the kitchen team makes restaurant-style meals with gluten-free and low-sodium choices, all served in an elegant setting, and there's even a bistro, a salon, a private dining room, a garden, transportation, and on-site parking available. Medical support covers help with managing medications, incontinence care, diabetes, and special care for people who aren't able to walk, and staff are known to be friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with whatever someone needs, whether that's personal care, recreation, or health services. The Springs at Stony Brook is designed for comfort and community, with personalized care, common spaces that let in natural light with big windows, built-in shelves and a fireplace, and specialized areas for memory support and rehabilitation, all under one roof, so residents can settle in and have their needs met as time goes on.

Beautiful building, caring staff, concerns
I loved the brand-new, spotless building, caring direct caregivers, lovely residents, good therapy and meals - it often felt warm and family-like. But I was worried by unprofessional leadership, high staff turnover, distracted or rude employees, missed meds/lost items and slow or dismissive responses to complaints. Beautiful facility and great hands-on staff, yet I'd caution others to confirm safety, oversight and costs before committing.
