    Friendly, professional staff and rehab

I had a very positive experience - the staff were consistently friendly, loving and professional (special thanks to Nurse Cathy Lynn and longtime team members like Melinda and Logan), communication with my family was excellent, and the rehab services, food and amenities were all very good. The facility is clean, welcoming to families, and I felt supported every step of the way.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews describe a facility with a clearly maintained physical environment and several strong service elements alongside operational inconsistencies that merit attention. Many families and former residents praise the cleanliness of the building, the pleasant common areas and amenities, and the quality of the dining service. The facilityโ€™s physical upkeep and welcoming reception create a positive first impression for visitors, and reviewers frequently cite specific staff members and long-term employees who provide compassionate, professional care.

Clinical care and staff performance are described as mixed. Numerous comments highlight attentive, family-oriented nursing and effective rehabilitation outcomes for short-term patients; staff are credited with good communication, individualized therapy, and supportive discharge results. At the same time, other reviewers describe lapses in personal-care routines and slower-than-expected response times to resident requests. Several notes raise concerns about medication-management practices and delayed clinical follow-up, which some families felt contributed to adverse outcomes. These issues appear unevenly distributed rather than universal, leading to variability in care experience.

Staffing and management patterns show strengths and weaknesses. Positive reports emphasize caring long-term employees and moments when teams โ€œgo above and beyond.โ€ Conversely, reviewers also mention periods of limited staffing, reliance on temporary agency staff, and higher turnover that affect continuity of care and timeliness of responses. Admissions and transfer coordination is another recurring area of concern: families reported communication breakdowns, delayed transfers, and unclear followโ€‘up on external referrals, which increased stress during transitions.

For prospective residents and families, the facility offers a clean, attractive environment, solid rehabilitation services, and several staff who provide strong, compassionate care. Important caveats include variability in personal-care delivery, potential gaps in medication oversight, and intermittent delays in responsiveness and clinical communication. Visitors should consider asking about current staffing ratios, agency-staff usage, the facilityโ€™s protocols for call-bell response, medication review procedures, and how the facility manages admissions/transfers and family notifications so they have a clearer sense of operational reliability before placement.

    About Ridgeway Nursing & Rehab

Ridgeway Nursing & Rehab sits in a peaceful, tranquil setting and offers several types of care, from independent living in apartment-like units with housekeeping, laundry centers, and meal programs, to assisted living where staff help with personal care and daily needs, and they keep an eye on residents around the clock, but you'll find they have memory care for people with Alzheimer's or other types of dementia and those services do cost a lot more-about three times higher than standard healthcare if you're over 65. The facility has nursing and rehabilitation therapy, skilled nursing, long-term and respite care, along with engaging activities and personalized plans. There's a real focus on tailoring support to each person, and the staff includes experienced healthcare professionals who deliver specialized nursing care. Ridgeway reports a nurse turnover rate of 50%, which comes in higher than the state average, so you might see new faces often, and the nurse staffing level averages 3.88 hours of care per resident per day. There are 99 beds, and on a usual day, about 89 residents live there. Management's handled by Valley Stream Operator I LLC, while Philipson Family Limited Liability Company has held managerial control since 2016, and the ownership is for-profit, so it's run as a business. Now, looking closer at the inspection history, Ridgeway Nursing & Rehab has 18 deficiencies listed in reports, including one about not meeting nutrition and dietary standards, which posed an immediate risk to residents' health, and another about how resources are managed, which was also marked as an immediate danger, plus there's a deficiency for infection control. It's a special focus facility, meaning the government's keeping a closer watch due to past quality issues, and, in fact, inspections haven't happened on a regular schedule-the last one was delayed by over two years. For people or families who want a place where you can get many levels of care in one setting, with independent living, assisted living, nursing, rehabilitation, and memory care, Ridgeway does provide all these services, although the history of deficiencies, higher nurse turnover, and the increased cost for memory care might be things to think about.
