    Twelve years of attentive care

I've been very pleased with Hilltop - after 12 years my mom is happy, well cared for, and treated like family by attentive nurses, CNAs and administration. There are lots of activities, music and group events, a hardworking rehab and medical team (bath/eating help and Medicaid guidance), good meals and a home-like atmosphere; we have a shared room which has worked for us, and I recommend Hilltop.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews for Hilltop Nursing & Rehabilitation Center present a mixed picture. Many families and residents highlight strong, compassionate day-to-day care: certified nursing assistants, licensed nurses, and the rehabilitation team receive consistent praise for hands-on assistance with bathing, feeding, mobility, and therapy. Several accounts emphasize a home-like atmosphere supported by long-tenured staff, family-oriented interactions, and an administration that has addressed concerns when engaged. The facility also offers a range of social and recreational options that several residents enjoy, including music, group sessions, dancing, games, and other entertainment, and some reviewers noted effective help navigating Medicaid and VA funding.

At the same time, reviews point to several operational weaknesses that prospective residents and families should evaluate closely. Cleanliness and odor control in resident areas are recurrent concerns, and there are descriptions implying inconsistent standards of sanitation. Staffing levels and consistency appear uneven; reviewers described times when coverage or responsiveness lagged, which contributes to perceptions of variability in clinical care. Related operational gaps include uneven staff training and variability in transfer- and mobility-safety practices. These patterns have led some families to report serious clinical incidents and emergency transfers, which raises questions about clinical oversight and incident response protocols.

Dining and activities are also unevenly experienced. A number of residents praised the food and rehab dining support, while others found meals unappetizing or not aligned with cultural preferences. Activity offerings are similarly mixed: some units or shifts provide lively programming and entertainment beyond basic options, while others rely primarily on limited activities such as bingo. Facility layout and accommodation choices — including shared rooms — were noted by reviewers who preferred greater privacy. Several families cited difficulties with visitation flexibility and with staff handling of personal belongings, along with frustrating communication lapses around clinical changes and end-of-life care.

Taken together, the pattern is polarized: many positive reports about caring staff, rehabilitation services, and social programming coexist with repeated operational concerns around sanitation, staffing consistency, clinical-safety practices, and family communication. For prospective residents and their families, a targeted on-site visit is advisable: observe cleanliness and odor control, review staffing levels and staff turnover, ask about training and transfer-safety protocols, sample meals, and request details on activity schedules and visitation policies. Reviewing recent inspection results and speaking directly with administration about how the facility addresses sanitation, clinical incidents, and end-of-life coordination will help clarify whether Hilltop’s strengths align with your priorities and whether the identified weaknesses have been addressed.

About Hilltop Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, LLC

Hilltop Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, LLC sits at 336 Edgewood Drive in Pineville, Louisiana, and holds 130 certified beds with an average of about 101 residents each day, so you're likely to find a steady but not crowded place to stay, and if you're thinking about moving in, they'll let you take a tour, meet the people who live there, and visit with staff, even offering a brochure or a photo or virtual tour for those wanting to learn before they visit. Folks there can choose from several types of care, like assisted living, independent living, skilled nursing, memory care for those with Alzheimer's or dementia, short-term rehabilitation, respite care if someone just needs a break from home, social services, and even hospice care for end-of-life support, so you don't have to look elsewhere as needs change over time. The place aims for a family-like, friendly environment with polite staff, focusing on respect, honesty, and understanding the social and emotional needs of people living there, making things feel a bit more personal, and you won't have to worry about discrimination because they follow policies that protect everyone based on state and federal law. You'll find a landscaped setting that the staff call beautiful, and there's a certain pride in their long tradition of care, as administrators and supervisors want more than basic compliance and hope for small acts of kindness, a gentle touch, and a smile to help improve daily life. Hilltop's caregivers work so that each resident has a bit more than just technical medical care, with nurse staffing slightly better than the state average-nurses spend about 3.83 hours a day with each resident, and the turnover rate is a little lower, too, which can help with consistency of care. The facility is managed by Central Management Company, LLC, and has been under the direction of Teddy Price since 2006. For ownership, Kisatchie Health, LLC and Prico, Inc. share direct ownership, while Teddy Price and the Marjorie S Price Estate own the companies behind it. Like many nursing homes, Hilltop has received some deficiencies in recent inspections-infection control not fully up to federal standards, problems with abuse and neglect reporting, issues with managing resident money, and a total of 20 documented deficiencies, so families may want to look into reports for the latest updates. Still, Hilltop tries to offer care in line with its mission to serve people with compassion and integrity, and while no place can promise perfection, you can visit for yourself to get a sense of what life there might be like.
