    Positive, caring assisted living experience

My mother had a very positive experience in this clean, well-kept, home-like community. Staff are friendly and professional, truly go above and beyond with personalized care, medication management, plenty of activities and companionship, and delicious meals (they even brought cookies and books to her room); I highly recommend it for families seeking assisted care.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: The Lincoln Home Senior Retirement Community is frequently characterized as a small, home-like assisted living community with a strong emphasis on personalized resident care. Many accounts highlight attentive staff who learn individual preferences, provide small comforts (for example, delivered snacks or books), and treat residents in a family-style manner. Cleanliness and general upkeep of the building are described positively, and staff are generally described as friendly and professional.

Care quality and staff: Reports point to compassionate, hands-on caregiving and a willingness among staff to go beyond routine duties to support residents. Medication administration and clinical follow-through are highlighted as consistent strengths, and families described staff as attentive during the COVID-19 period. The tenor of staff–resident interactions is commonly noted as warm and nurturing, contributing to perceived emotional and social support for residents.

Dining and activities: Dining receives favorable comments for quality and resident enjoyment, with mentions of appetizing meals and occasional in-room treats. Activities and social programming are described as plentiful, providing companionship and engagement; reviewers cited group activities and staff-facilitated interaction as positive contributors to daily life.

Facilities and services: The physical environment is described as well kept and clean, reinforcing the home-like ambiance many families value. One operational limitation is the absence of on-site memory-care capability; prospective residents requiring specialized memory services should consider this constraint when evaluating suitability.

Management and administrative patterns: Feedback on administration and leadership is mixed. Several accounts praise management and describe excellent experiences, while other accounts raise concerns about transparency around rate changes and administrative communication. There are allegations of misrepresentation regarding rate adjustments that signal a need for clear, written explanations of pricing and contract terms. The variability in descriptions of management suggests uneven experiences across families, which may reflect leadership change, inconsistent communication practices, or differing expectations.

Notable patterns and practical considerations: The dominant themes are strong direct-care practices, personalized attention, and a homelike culture supported by clean facilities and engaging programming. The most significant operational caveats are administrative: clarify the facility’s rate-change policy, obtain contractual details in writing, and confirm whether memory-care services are available or whether transitions would be required if needs evolve. Prospective residents and families who prioritize personalized care and a close-knit environment may find this community well suited, provided they verify administrative terms and long-term service capabilities during the tour and contracting process.

About The Lincoln Home Senior Retirement Community

The Lincoln Home Senior Retirement Community sits along the Damariscotta River in Midcoast Maine, and the river views are really something, especially from the new and spacious apartments or the riverside dining room where the culinary team serves three meals a day with locally sourced, creative dishes, which means special treats and special diets like allergy-sensitive or diabetes meals are available when needed, and folks can always find a comfortable spot whether they're in the cozy library upstairs, the big living room downstairs, or out on a garden path. Residents get help with daily things like bathing, dressing, and medication, and there are always caregivers close by if extra support is needed, so everyone can feel secure, especially with the 24-hour call system and emergency alerts set up throughout the two-story community. The place has a small, homey feel, and the staff puts a lot of effort into making everyone feel like family, whether it's by offering private rooms looking out at the water, or making sure all sorts of social and creative activities are happening-things like arts and crafts, exercise classes, writing memoirs, sing-alongs, movie nights, and seasonal lobster feeds, which seem to be a favorite. There's a newsletter called RIVER VIEWS that keeps folks up to date with what's going on, and the activity rooms stay active with puzzles, games, and community-sponsored events, giving everyone a chance to both relax and engage. The Lincoln Home has assisted living for those who want extra help but still value their independence, along with memory care for folks with dementia or Alzheimer's in a part of the community that's calm and secure, plus skilled nursing, respite care, and even adult day and home health services to support different needs as life changes. Everything's accessible for wheelchairs, and there's transportation, housekeeping, and laundry services, with options for studio or one-bedroom apartments if someone's looking for a new place to settle in. The Lincoln Home is a non-profit, small place that puts an emphasis on compassion, person-centered care, and a chance to enjoy both the outdoors and community life, with plenty of laughter and creative opportunities to make every day a bit brighter.
