    About Waldoboro Green

Waldoboro Green sits on Mill Street in the quiet town of Waldoboro, Maine, about 13 miles from Rockland, and it's part of the Elder Care Network's Village Care Homes, where you find just six residents in a modern, airy house built with sustainable design and in-floor radiant heating, and those big picture windows let in so much light you can see the Medomak River and the school ballfields right across the street. The place is all on one floor, with wide, shady hallways lined by private bedrooms, and you've got a big high-ceilinged common area that rolls right into a bright dining room, with a well-shaded yard out front and a sunny space out back for everyone to catch a bit of fresh air or listen to the children playing nearby.

There's plenty to do here, as someone planned the activity schedule for all seasons, with outings to places like Lincoln Theater, the pumpkin festival, and the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, not to mention regular visits from musicians and hair stylists, arts and crafts, and movie nights, while folks also get transportation for errands, medical appointments, or even church every now and again. Inside, the rooms have small kitchenettes, cable TV, and an emergency call system, and everybody has help with their laundry and housekeeping, plus personal care for the things that get harder with age like bathing, dressing, and medication management, and there are always nurses on staff and a team to help day and night.

Meal time's a big event with fresh, healthy food and snacks included, and the staff helps folks stick to diets for things like high blood pressure or diabetes, which isn't always easy but does give some peace of mind. Waldoboro Green has a little book room, a salon, a sauna, and even a jacuzzi for relaxation, and on nice days people use the screened-in porch, or sit out back to watch a game or look at the river. This place takes payments from different sources, including Medicaid, Medicare, private pay, and VA benefits, so families sometimes have options, and you always see staff around because someone's there all hours, managing medications and making sure everyone's all right, and the whole thing's regulated by the state for safety. People here value their independence but get support where they need it, and with only six residents, staff can pay special attention to everyone's needs in this smaller, close-knit setting.
