    Compassionate, Clean, Engaging Memory Care

I felt immediate relief placing my mom here - the staff are warm, attentive and genuinely caring, the facility is spotless, home-like and secure for memory/mobility needs, and meals are nutritious and thoughtfully prepared. Activities and outings (bowling, crafts, exercise programs) kept her engaged, medical visits and clear communication from management gave me peace of mind, and transportation/day program staff were excellent. Overall I was very satisfied and would recommend this compassionate, professional community.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Fenwick Landing is generally presented as a small, residential-feeling senior care community with strengths in compassionate caregiving, memory-care programming, and family engagement. Many families praise the staff for warmth, dignity-preserving care, and responsive communication; reviewers consistently describe an environment that feels home-like, well maintained in common areas, and supportive for residents with cognitive or mobility needs.

Care and staff: Reviewers commonly emphasize attentive, compassionate direct care and a family-style culture. Staff are credited with individualized attention, accompaniment to appointments, and being available for family communication. At the same time, several accounts point to variability in staffing continuity and experience—turnover, occasional unwelcoming interactions, and some periods when staff appear inattentive or distracted. These comments suggest that while core caregiving quality is strong, consistency of personnel and experience level can fluctuate.

Dining and activities: Dining is a clear strength: home-style, thoughtfully prepared meals, sociable kitchen staff, and eating improvements among residents are recurring themes. The program typically offers two main meals with snacks, options for family-sent meals, and transparent billing for extra services. Activity programming is broad and active, including games, crafts, gardening, group exercise, bowling, regular restaurant outings, holiday celebrations, and social events that support engagement and socialization—particularly valuable for residents in memory care.

Facilities and clinical operations: Many reviewers note clean, inviting common spaces, pleasant grounds, and useful amenities like an aquarium living room and on-site medical visits. However, there are operational and infrastructure concerns raised in several accounts: HVAC and ventilation systems are described as dated in places; some rooms are small and lack private showering; and there are mentions of sanitation or odor concerns during certain shifts and pest-control attention needed. Clinically, some families reported delays in medication administration and inconsistencies in laundry and incontinence-care processes, indicating potential gaps in routine clinical operations and workflow.

Management and communication patterns: Management garners positive feedback for proactive communication, family inclusion in care decisions, and transparent practices around costs and admissions for many families. Conversely, a subset of comments describes administrative responsiveness gaps—for example, delayed replies during admissions inquiries—and occasional perceptions of internal favoritism or staff drama. These mixed observations suggest generally effective leadership with opportunities to standardize admissions communication and strengthen internal team cohesion.

Bottom line: Fenwick Landing offers many features attractive to families seeking memory-care and small-community living—compassionate staff, robust activities, home-style dining, and on-site clinical access. Prospective residents and families should weigh these strengths against operational considerations such as variability in staff continuity, infrastructure modernization needs, and specific clinical-process gaps (medication timing, laundry/incontinence procedures). Asking targeted questions about staffing stability, medication administration protocols, room sizes and bathing options, HVAC upgrades, and admissions-response expectations during a tour will help clarify whether the community’s current operational status matches your priorities.

About Fenwick Landing Senior Care Community

Fenwick Landing Senior Care Community sits in Waldorf, Maryland, and serves older adults who need help with daily tasks or higher medical care, and folks can see right away that it's set up for different support needs, since they've got assisted living, adult day care, short-term respite care, hospice, skilled nursing, senior apartments, and even memory care for people with Alzheimer's or dementia where nurses use special therapies to help reduce confusion and wandering, while private rooms include safety features, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, cable TV, a sprinkler system, washers and dryers, and some kind of kitchen or kitchenette, all meant to keep folks safe and comfortable. Residents get room cleaning, maintenance, laundry, and help with personal needs such as bathing, dressing, walking, using wheelchairs, and managing medication, plus nurses and Certified Medication Technicians handle medication for overnight and respite stays. Fenwick Landing runs adult medical day care during weekdays from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, while short-term stays accommodate those with new care needs or seniors recovering from surgeries, providing home-cooked meals, 24-hour care, and activities, and for a change of pace, families can rent out the community for social events on weekends. People attending the adult day program can join exercises, arts and crafts, and wellness classes, while pet therapy is also offered, and even folks who only need occasional help can come for drop-in respite days Monday through Friday, if they call a day ahead. The campus features a community dining room, special dining for low-sugar or low-salt needs, a public living room with a central fireplace, a hair salon and barbershop, TV lounge, meeting room, activity and game rooms, and outdoor spaces where residents can relax, not to mention exercise and social outings. Everyone gets transportation, though there's a cost, and both guest and resident parking are available along with uncovered spots. Many services focus on safety, such as incontinence care, diabetic support, and help for those who can't get around on their own, whether for a short stay or something more permanent, and the staff cares for folks at every stage, including those needing memory care, skilled nursing, or regular assistance with daily living. Fenwick Landing Senior Care Community's earned a 4.3 rating from four reviewers, and it keeps its doors open for families and caregivers looking for long-term or short-term senior care in a welcoming place oriented to seniors' comfort, safety, and well-being.
