    Small home, attentive Alzheimer's care

I placed my Dad in this small, lovely house and yard and I'm very pleased. The experienced, ALZ-specialized team-especially Shelby-are patient, friendly caregivers who understand dementia and sundowning and favor thoughtful, non-overmedicating care. The caring owner and small staff keep everything clean and well-maintained (porch, bright windows, TV room and separate living room); rooms vary in size and Dad's is small but spotless. I feel at peace about his care.

    Summary of reviews

Moore's Adult Foster Care is described consistently as a small, home-like setting that emphasizes cleanliness and a well-maintained domestic environment. Reviewers highlight multiple common areas — including a TV room, separate living room and a porch — and an attractive yard, which support informal socialization and family visits. Room sizes vary; some private rooms are noted as small but clean, which reflects the building's smaller-scale residential footprint.

Care quality is framed positively, with families reporting peace of mind about their relatives' well-being. Staff are characterized as friendly, patient and attentive; the owner is frequently described as caring and involved. Several comments emphasize the home's experience with dementia and Alzheimer’s-related needs, including practical approaches to sundowning and a medication philosophy that emphasizes non-pharmacologic interventions where appropriate. Named caregivers received individual praise for compassionate care, suggesting continuity and personal relationships between staff and residents.

Management and staffing appear oriented toward individualized attention rather than institutional scale. The small staff and owner-operated model enable close observation and personalized routines, which families found reassuring. At the same time, the residence's size implies operational trade-offs: capacity is limited, and families should consider how the facility manages staffing coverage, clinical oversight and any required specialized nursing services, particularly for residents with higher medical or equipment needs.

Activities and dining receive less specific commentary in the available summaries. Informal social activities centered on shared living spaces and the porch/yard are mentioned, but reviewers do not describe a robust, structured activity program. Likewise, comments do not detail meal variety or formal dining services; prospective families should ask directly about menus, accommodations for special diets and daily activity schedules.

Overall, Moore's Adult Foster Care presents as a small, well-maintained, dementia-knowledgeable home with an emphasis on personalized, calm care and hands-on management. Families seeking a residential, family-style option with experienced caregivers and dementia-aware practices may find this setting appropriate. Those requiring extensive clinical services, larger private rooms for equipment, or a wide menu of structured activities should verify availability and contingency plans with management before placement.

    About Moore's Adult Foster Care

Moore's Adult Foster Care sits in a quiet country setting about three miles from the City of Charlotte, and has been caring for seniors for over 40 years, giving families peace of mind by offering a safe and supportive home where people get care around the clock, and you'll find the house is all on one level, which makes things easier for folks with walkers or wheelchairs, and there's a fenced deck out back if residents want to enjoy a little sun or fresh air without worry, and there are alarms on the doors and a computerized wander alert system that lets staff know if anybody tries to leave or heads somewhere they shouldn't go, so people with memory care needs like Alzheimer's or other dementia stay safe while being able to move around freely, and with nurses on staff and visiting doctors, you know medical help is always close by, and there are private rooms and double rooms-two of those have private bathrooms-and folks get help with dressing, bathing, grooming, using the restroom, or getting around the house, and staff are there day and night to give a hand, even when transfers or lifts are needed, so nobody has to worry about being alone if they need help. You get home-cooked meals every day, cable TV, laundry service, and there's plenty of room to socialize in the large sitting rooms, which hold big TVs and a portable game table for card games or puzzles, and the staff help residents be up and dressed every day because keeping a routine helps everyone feel better, and there's always something going on from the activities calendar, whether it's games, crafts, or music, and transportation is provided for doctor visits or errands, so nobody has to feel stuck or miss an appointment. The Moore family runs the place and treats everyone like their own relatives, and you can see they take pride in keeping rooms freshly painted, carpets new, and everything clean and modern without being fancy, and there's even space for couples-men and women both welcome-and sometimes residents keep a cat for company if they want. The home specializes in caring for people living with dementia or Alzheimer's, and staff can handle behaviors that might be tough elsewhere, including those who wander or have trouble with moods; they're trained to help everyone stay calm, safe, and as independent as possible. Nurses check blood sugar for folks with diabetes, give insulin injections if needed, and watch out for anyone who needs help with medication, bowel or bladder care, or other health needs, and hospice is available for those who need that support too. With 12 beds, 24-hour awake staff, secured memory care, and personalized care plans, Moore's Adult Foster Care is a good choice for seniors who need a homelike setting, whether short-term or long-term, where everyone can age in place and get the help they need without moving again.
