    Well-maintained, quiet, senior-friendly apartment community

I live here and appreciate the curb appeal and well-maintained, spacious campus - there's a nice mix of apartments and duplexes (many with attached garages) and my small unit is quiet. Staff are friendly, the new windows and patio door are great, and the neighborhood feels safe and convenient for seniors with shopping nearby.

    About The Baptist Manor

The Baptist Manor - Alpha Building sits on a quiet 35-acre campus in Farmington Hills, MI, and has 101 one-story apartments that range from studios to one- and two-bedroom units, each with wall air conditioning, patio doors, and patios right off the living room, and the kitchens have open layouts, tiled walk-in showers, and there's a mounted 55-inch TV too, and you see, the rent covers heat, water, sewage, and electricity, and there's cable, phone, and high-speed wireless internet already set up through Pillar Technologies, so you don't have to worry about that, and every resident gets extra storage space if they need it, plus there's a library where you can sit and read, a community dining room where meals are served fresh and made to be both tasty and healthy, a lounge for meeting neighbors, a hair salon, and even a small general store on site, and if you like being outdoors, there's an outside patio and common areas that are both covered and uncovered, and the whole place stays cool because it's all air-conditioned, and you can use the high-speed internet and watch your cable TV whenever you feel like it.

The Alpha Building stands out because it lets seniors live independently in accessible apartments, with staff always around, and it's part of a larger faith-based, non-profit group that's worked for over 70 years to make senior living more affordable and homelike, and everyone working there, from the Maintenance & Manor Enhanced Service staff to Service Coordinators and a Certified Occupancy Specialist, gets special training every year, and it really shows, because the staff have a reputation for being helpful and friendly, and you get a sense that folks are willing to help with transportation (for a cost), and if a resident needs to go to the doctor, a nurse will go along if family can't, and care is offered in layers-you pick from independent living, assisted living, and memory care, plus there's nursing services available, and if you need help with daily things like bathing, dressing, or medicines, the staff are ready to step in.

Pets are welcome-you can have a cat or a dog (as long as your dog is between 21-30 pounds), and if you smoke, you can do that outside or even in your own private indoor area, which isn't too common in many senior places, and the building is easy to get around for anyone with a walker or wheelchair, with ground-floor units, handicapped features, and even tubs in the bath if you want a soak, which some people say is important to them in their later years. The Alpha Building also has holiday parties, lots of social and devotional activities, and its community events have won awards, making it easy to stay connected, active, and engaged, whether you're looking for spiritual support, activities to keep your mind and body healthy, or just a friendly face to say hello.

All meals are served in the dining room and can be adjusted for any special diet, and laundry and housekeeping are available, along with Manor Enhanced Services like medication reminders and help with chores, and you know, there's even respite care options if someone needs a short-term stay, and residents can choose to age in place unless there's a payment or behavior issue that comes up. The Alpha Building is locked for safety, and you must be at least 55 to live there. The community accepts several ways to pay, including private payment, the Medicaid MI Choice Waiver Program, long-term care insurance, and even Veterans benefits. There's parking spaces for residents, places to walk and relax, and everything from parks and theaters to cafes and worship spots are nearby, plus public transit stops close to the property, making it a good base for staying active in the larger community. The Baptist Manor campus also includes other buildings, like the subsidized Drake and Epsilon buildings for those over 62 who want help covering rent, and then there's the Gamma Building that's similar to Alpha but with more units and a few extra amenities like a general store and chapel. The Baptist Manor - Alpha Building gives seniors lots of ways to live well, and each service aims to make life simple, safe, and connected without being fancy or fussed over.
