    Warm staff and beautiful community

I moved my relative here and have been very pleased. The staff are warm, attentive, and know residents by name - leadership (Mallory and Andrea) is engaged and trustworthy. The community is beautiful and hotel-like with private apartments (fridge/microwave), large walk-in bathrooms, bright windows, spotless common areas, and a very restaurant-style dining program with huge variety. There are lots of activities (bingo, fitness, arts & crafts, church) and a real sense of community - I feel confident in the care and would recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Covenant Glen of Frankenmuth elicits primarily positive feedback around direct resident care, dining, and the physical environment, with recurring operational concerns that prospective residents and families should evaluate. Many reviewers emphasize compassionate, personalized attention: staff frequently know residents by name, engage in family communication, and provide gestures such as personalized birthday celebrations. The community’s smaller, less institutional feel and proximity to town amenities are also noted as strengths.

Care and staffing present a mixed but informative picture. Numerous comments highlight an attentive caregiving team and genuine, resident-focused interactions. At the same time, reviewers point to staffing shortages and periods of elevated turnover that have affected service consistency — most commonly housekeeping frequency and some support services. There are also mentions of limited continuous clinical coverage (periodic nursing visits rather than full-time on-site nursing), which is an operational characteristic to confirm during a tour.

Dining and food service are frequently cited as strong aspects of the community. Multiple reviewers describe a restaurant-style dining experience, wide menu variety, and kitchen staff who are responsive to dietary preferences and accommodations. These features are often described as contributing to an elevated daily experience for residents and guests.

Activity programming is generally robust, with offerings such as fitness classes, arts and crafts, church services, and social events that help residents form friendships and remain engaged. However, a number of reviewers found the mix of activities uneven — some described a program driven heavily by bingo and social dining events — and noted occasional shortages of equipment for exercise classes. Prospective residents should ask about current weekly schedules and available resources for preferred activities.

The physical plant and apartments receive consistent praise: clean, well-kept common areas, landscaped grounds, and spacious private units with kitchenettes and large bathrooms. Memory-care is available on campus, but layout and access were described as less convenient in at least one account, so families should confirm unit locations and walking distances. Transportation services and periodic in-house physician visits add practical convenience.

Management and administrative practices show variability. Several reviewers praise engaged leaders who have driven improvements, and specific executive directors received positive mention for responsiveness. Conversely, there are serious operational concerns in other accounts including complaints about leadership conduct, weaknesses in handling negative feedback, and problems with billing/invoicing and insurance documentation. One reviewer described significant financial-documentation delays; others noted perceived opacity in complaint resolution. Given this mixed picture, it is advisable to discuss leadership tenure, the community’s complaint-resolution process, and recent operational changes when evaluating the community.

Overall, Covenant Glen of Frankenmuth offers many of the features families seek — caring staff, quality dining, active programming, and comfortable apartments in a walkable small-town setting — while also showing recurring operational limitations related to staffing consistency, administrative processes, and activity resources. A focused tour that includes conversations about current staffing levels, housekeeping cadence, clinical coverage, billing practices, and the activity calendar will help determine whether the community’s current operating posture matches a family’s priorities.
