    Spotless community with caring staff

I placed my mom in this brand-new, spotless community and her spacious, suite-like apartment with an in-room fridge already feels like home. The staff - especially Lorene, Ann and Ms. Wilson - have been warm, professional and incredibly responsive; move-in was smooth and communication exemplary. Plenty of activities (arts & crafts, exercise, movie nights, weekly shopping, putting green), great amenities (café, salon, patios) and a caring, family-like atmosphere - I recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Pomeroy Living Orion is frequently described as a modern, well-appointed community with a strong emphasis on resident comfort and social engagement. Reviewers consistently praise the facility’s physical environment — new, clean apartments with suite-like features, attractive outdoor patios and gardens, and hotel-like common areas. On-site amenities such as a cafe, hair salon, exercise room, and putting green contribute to a resort-style feel that many families find appealing.

Care quality and staff behavior are central strengths in many accounts. Caregivers, med-techs, and specific clinical leaders receive repeated commendation for compassionate, attentive support, timely clinical interventions, and family-centered end-of-life care. Nursing leadership and certain administrative staff are noted as knowledgeable and responsive, and several families describe smooth transitions between independent and assisted living. At the same time, reviewers identify persistent operational challenges: staffing levels can be inconsistent, turnover is a recurring concern, and frontline performance varies by shift. These patterns lead some families to feel the need for ongoing oversight and direct communication to ensure continuity of care. There are also isolated, serious personnel-related allegations that prospective families may wish to investigate further.

Dining and food services produce mixed impressions. The community offers a wide variety of meal options, special-event dining, and frequent social food-centered activities (for example themed teas and live-music brunches). However, multiple comments point to declining or inconsistent food quality and occasional meal-service continuity issues. Several reviews mentioned chef changes and expectations that new leadership will address quality concerns; prospective residents should ask about current kitchen leadership and meal-service protocols.

Programming and social life are repeatedly cited as strengths. The activities calendar includes arts and crafts, exercise classes, shopping trips, movie nights, daily social hours, and numerous special events that foster interaction and mental stimulation. Residents and families commonly describe a warm, social atmosphere and meaningful peer relationships, contributing to a strong sense of community and resident satisfaction.

Facility maintenance and operations show contrasting signals. While the campus is generally well kept and clean, reviewers mention construction-quality issues and a maintenance team that at times appears overloaded, leading to slower-than-expected resolution of repairs. Administrative responsiveness is frequently praised, especially among leasing staff, but there are also accounts of inconsistent front-desk customer service and concerns about leadership stability.

Overall patterns suggest a facility with many substantive strengths — compassionate caregivers, attractive accommodations, robust activities, and a community-oriented culture — coupled with operational areas that merit inquiry before a move. Prospective residents and families should tour at multiple times of day, meet clinical and kitchen leadership, ask about current staffing ratios and turnover, request examples of how care transitions and memory-care planning are handled, and review the facility’s maintenance response procedures and dining-management plans to determine fit.

About Pomeroy Living Orion- Assisted Living

Pomeroy Living Orion-Assisted Living sits in Orion Township, Michigan, offering several types of care including assisted living, memory care for people with Alzheimer's or dementia, and independent living for healthier, active seniors who want fewer daily chores and more social time, and folks say staff members like Lorene and Ann do their jobs with kindness and respect, which makes a real difference to the residents living there. The community supports residents with help for daily activities like bathing and dressing, and medication management, and healthcare services like nursing help for 12-16 hours a day, a 24-hour call system for emergencies, non-ambulatory care, diabetic help, and support for people who need incontinence care, plus they're nearby Women's Excellence In Obstetrics & Gynecology and the local CVS Pharmacy if you need to get out for prescriptions or doctor appointments. The grounds are landscaped with walking paths and there are outdoor spots with grills, a fireplace, and a putting green; inside, you get a game room, pub, library, fitness room, salon services, a sauna, a spa, and special wellness programs aimed at both physical and mental health, and it's all cleaned and maintained regularly with weekly laundry and housekeeping services so the place stays inviting for everybody. There are lots of ways residents can fill their days-movie nights, music programs, arts and crafts, fitness classes, devotional services, and offsite trips to places like Miyako Japanese Steakhouse and Starbucks, and daily activities help people stay engaged, even those in memory care who have more structured schedules to try to keep minds sharp. Pomeroy Living Orion tries to keep things personal with care plans made for each resident, reviewed monthly to reflect changing needs, and they use safety features like fall detection and a 24-hour response system so folks feel a bit safer, even though sometimes the community has staffing challenges that might impact how quickly problems get solved or maintenance gets done. There are several apartment and condo options, some companion-style and others private, each with appliances like washers and dryers; meals are served restaurant-style using quality ingredients, and all utilities except phone and cable are covered. Residents can use the community's own transportation for appointments, shopping, or social trips, and there's a regular board of directors, regulations support for HFA and AFC, and even CALD renewal and training for staff, which helps keep care standards steady. Hospice, short-term rehab, and respite care are also available, and the place is well-regarded for its compassionate approach and variety of enriching activities, with a focus on privacy and letting folks stay as independent as they want while having support when it's needed. The estimated starting price is about $4,760 a month, and that cost will change depending on the type of apartment and the level of care a person needs. Residents like the friendly environment, the lively activities, and the staff's attention, although every now and then staffing issues crop up as in any busy place, but overall people find a caring and respectful community at Pomeroy Living Orion.
