    Warm compassionate staff and community

I moved my mom in recently and have been very pleased: staff are warm, compassionate, and professional (Mary and Tammy were especially helpful), admissions was quick and welcoming, and the facility is clean and home-like with spacious apartments, great food, and engaging activities. My loved one is settling and thriving with attentive, personalized medical care - overall a very positive experience and I'd recommend this community.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews of Pomeroy Living Sterling Assisted present a polarized picture: many families describe a warm, well-maintained community with compassionate staff and strong onboarding, while other accounts identify operational gaps that affect consistency of care. The facility's physical environment receives frequent praise — reviewers note spacious, well‑appointed apartments, accessible bathrooms, outdoor seating, and a layout that supports resident navigation. Cleanliness and a home‑like atmosphere are commonly mentioned as strengths.

Staffing and direct care provoke mixed impressions. Numerous families highlight thoughtful, responsive caregivers, 24/7 assistance, individualized care plans, and effective medical-team involvement that has supported residents’ wellbeing. Admissions and move-in coordination are repeatedly described as organized and supportive, and specific staff members are credited with facilitating smooth transitions. Conversely, reviewers also raise concerns about staff continuity and frequent turnover, which they associate with variability in daily routines, responsiveness, and the reliability of personal-care tasks such as bathing and hygiene scheduling.

Clinical operations and documentation emerge as an important pattern. Several comments describe confusion or gaps in medication-management records and diabetes documentation, as well as difficulties obtaining transfer or clinical paperwork. Related observations include inconsistent wound-care follow-up and delays in clinical communication. These issues present potential safety and coordination risks and suggest areas where standardized processes and clearer family communication could improve confidence.

Dining and activities are generally positive but variable. Many families praise meal quality and engaging activity programming, including outings and social opportunities that contribute to resident engagement. A smaller number of reviews cite inconsistent meal service — for example, temperature and timing concerns — which points to uneven execution rather than a systemic absence of programming.

Memory-care and unit-level behavior management warrant specific attention. Some reviewers report elevated noise and behavioral disruption within memory-care areas, indicating potential needs for additional staffing, behavior-support strategies, or environmental adjustments to reduce disturbances and enhance supervision. A subset of families also voiced serious concerns about administrative responsiveness and raised claims of differential treatment tied to payer source, which, if accurate, would require administrative clarification and policy review.

In summary, prospective residents and families will find tangible strengths at Pomeroy Living Sterling Assisted — notably strong admissions support, a welcoming physical environment, active programming, and many compassionate caregivers. At the same time, reviews indicate variability in how consistently those strengths are delivered day‑to‑day, with recurring operational themes around staffing stability, documentation practices, wound-care follow-up, meal-service consistency, memory‑care behavior management, and administrative transparency. When evaluating the community, families may wish to ask specific, operational questions about current staff turnover and staffing ratios, medication- and wound‑care protocols, documentation access for medical and transfer records, meal-service procedures, memory-care behavior‑support plans, and written policies concerning payer-source treatment and billing transparency.

    About Pomeroy Living Sterling Assisted

Pomeroy Living Sterling Assisted sits in Sterling Heights and offers assisted living and memory care with private apartments for residents, so when someone moves in, they get their own space with utilities and Wi-Fi included, and there's a Chapel for prayer, a movie theater, and well-tended gardens and courtyards where folks can walk or sit and rest. The dining's set up like a restaurant where the chef handles meals and sometimes they put on themed dinners, which many folks enjoy, and the place's won awards for its meals, activities, and how friendly the staff are-speaking of staff, there's a Director of Wellness who's an LPN and knows wound care, a Housekeeping Director to keep it clean, an Activities Director with training from Central Michigan University who plans engaging programs, a Chef focused on meals, a Sales and Marketing Director with decades of senior care experience, and an Executive Director who's been working in both hospitality and senior care for over thirty-five years. Residents can pick their caregiver, and they get wellness checks, blood pressure tracking, and help with managing medication, plus help with bathing, dressing, and other daily tasks if needed, and people who need memory care for dementia or Alzheimer's have access to special care in a layout that's straight and easy to navigate for those who sometimes get confused or have vision trouble. The place's got on-site doctors, short-term rehab and recovery services, oxygen therapy, physical therapy, fall prevention, wound care, and therapy for folks who need extra medical support, and there's also yoga, tai chi, and fitness classes, plus wellness programs that fit each resident's needs, so everyone can try to stay as healthy and active as possible. The building's kept up by a Maintenance Director, and for those who like to stay social, there are daily events, games, classes, lounges, and life enrichment programs, along with scheduled trips out for appointments or shopping or sometimes to see cultural events. Special lifestyle programs help folks live at their own pace, and respite care's available for caregivers who need a break, and the community's kept safe and clean while offering comforts and help with privacy. Apartments are spacious with modern amenities, and some are designed for assisted living and others for memory care, and the floor plan's meant to make getting around easier for everyone. The overall setup focuses on each resident's abilities and comfort, so people can enjoy their days, no matter if they're there for assisted living, memory care, rehabilitation, hospice, or palliative care, and residents can always ask for a virtual or in-person tour to see the rooms, gardens, dining, and activity spaces before they decide if it's right for them.
