    Small compassionate memory care, pricey

I toured this small, well-maintained 30-bed memory care and was very pleased. Rooms are large with roomy bathrooms and space to personalize; common areas and the dining room feel homey and clean. Staff-from nursing to activities and management-were kind, knowledgeable and attentive; there are many activities (including music therapy) and hospice support. Meals and personal care are included. It's on the costly side, but the compassionate, professional team makes it worth considering for families.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive, with repeated emphasis on high-quality, compassionate care and a warm, home-like atmosphere. Staff are the standout feature: reviewers consistently call them informative, welcoming, knowledgeable, helpful, loving, and outstanding. Nursing and caregiving staff earn specific praise for professionalism and kindness, and several families say the staff made the facility feel like home. Multiple reviewers explicitly recommend the community and express gratitude, with at least one family saying the cost was worth every penny.

The facility itself is described as a small, 30-bed community that many reviewers see as an advantage. The size supports personalized service, approachable management, and a close-knit feel. Rooms are praised for being spacious (great room sizes, large bathrooms) and for allowing personalization such as bringing furniture. Private rooms with private restrooms and a secure memory care environment are repeatedly mentioned, which is important for families seeking safety and dignity for residents. Cleanliness and efficient setup are also common positive points; reviewers describe the building as well-maintained and lovely.

Dining and daily care receive strong marks. Reviewers mention a homey cafeteria and a nice dining area, note that meals are included, and in several cases describe the food as outstanding. Practical care services such as assistance with bathing and toileting are affirmed, and open social areas contribute to a pleasant daily routine. Activities programming is present and appears to be expanding: an activity chart, many activity plans, and a recently hired activities director are cited as positive developments, and multiple visitors reported an engaging activities offering.

There are recurring operational and amenity-based concerns to balance the praise. The studio living concept is described by some as off-putting, and rooms lack a full kitchen — no stovetop or oven — which may limit residents who expect apartment-style kitchens. The property does not offer certain amenities some families wanted, specifically no gym and no courtyard. Communication and coordination issues are the main operational negatives: a few reviewers report staff who are hard to reach, slow medical evaluations, and a housing director characterized as unorganized with occasional lack of follow-through. These appear sporadic but important to families relying on timely responses and medical coordination.

Cost is another mixed theme. A specific price around $10,000/month is mentioned; some reviewers say the price is high but worth it for the level of care, while others simply call it financially acceptable. This suggests value judgments vary by family budget and expectations. A few reviewers mention only slight improvements are needed and still endorse the community, indicating that many issues are operational rather than systemic.

In summary, Suite Living Senior Care of Crystal is portrayed as a small, clean, well-run memory care community with excellent, compassionate staff, good dining, strong activities programming, and private, spacious rooms that families can personalize. The primary downsides reported are the studio-style living with no full kitchens, limited on-site amenities like a gym or courtyard, occasional communication and organizational lapses (notably with a housing director and medical evaluation speed), and a relatively high cost. For families prioritizing attentive staff, safety, cleanliness, and a home-like environment, reviewers overwhelmingly recommend the facility; for those requiring more apartment-style amenities, faster administrative responsiveness, or a lower price point, these areas should be discussed in a tour and contract review before moving forward.

About Suite Living Senior Care of Crystal

Suite Living Senior Care of Crystal sits at 3501 Douglas Dr N in Crystal, Minnesota, and is a small community with only 32 private suites, so things feel cozy, quieter, and a bit more personal. The community offers both assisted living and memory care, and these private suites include kitchenettes, cable or satellite TV, and WiFi, which some folks enjoy when they want time alone. The building is gated for safety and the staff keeps a close watch, and there's wheelchair accessibility just about everywhere, so people using walkers or chairs can get around pretty well. The care team has over 20 years of experience and every worker is hired and trained by Suite Living, so there's a sense that people know what to do and are familiar with how things go, and you won't find temporary or outside staff mixed in.

Assisted living services help residents with daily needs like meals, bathing, and medication reminders, and the memory care program supports folks with Alzheimer's or other dementia conditions, aiming for as much comfort, respect, and calm as possible. The staff includes part-time nurses, personal care assistants, and a team that handles hospice care, in-home care, medication, rehabilitative therapies, and spiritual support, depending on what people need. There's also a respite care option, which is a short-term stay if a family needs a break or their regular caregiver is away.

The place has regular programs including games, puzzles, arts and hobbies, music, and group activities, plus fitness and wellness sessions for those who want to stay more active, and kitchen staff make meals with fresh ingredients. Both housekeeping and linen services are part of the routine, so rooms stay clean and beds get freshened up, and there's on-site laundry too. Common areas have televisions and computers, and residents have access to internet in their suites if they want to check email or chat with family, and there's a garden outside for some air and sun. Religious services are provided in the community for those who value faith, and while Suite Living doesn't allow pets, overnight guests are welcome when families visit.

People pay an all-inclusive rent, which covers meals and utilities, and they accept checks, insurance, and Medicaid. There's an entry fee of $1,500 to move in. Suite Living Senior Care of Crystal is locally owned and keeps things straightforward, and for those who want a smaller, more intimate setting in the Crystal area, this community aims to offer care that keeps both physical comfort and spiritual well-being in mind. Virtual tours and videos are available to give families an idea of what the community is really like before visiting in person.
