    Compassionate, clean, homey memory care

I'm very pleased with the compassionate, skilled and responsive staff - nurses and caregivers are attentive, respectful, and welcoming. The memory-care unit is small and well-staffed, rooms are spacious, clean and wheelchair-friendly, and the facility feels like home. Communication is excellent (regular email updates), activities are creative and engaging (shout-out to Blaire), meals are home-cooked, and pet-friendly transportation and family proximity make this a supportive place.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews for Prairie Meadows Senior Living present a mixed but clear pattern: many families describe strong day-to-day strengths while others describe operational inconsistencies that matter for higher-dependency residents. Positive comments focus on compassionate caregiving, warm and respectful staff interactions, a well-kept, nearly new physical environment, and private, spacious rooms that permit personal furnishings. The community is described as home-like with a pleasant dining room, accessible bathrooms and good wheelchair access, and active programming supported by staff and local partnerships.

Care quality and clinical communication are areas of both strength and variability. Several families praised responsive clinical care, updated treatment plans, regular email updates on tests and results, and attentive mealtime assistance. Conversely, reviewers also raised substantive concerns about inconsistent personal-care assistance — especially bathing and toileting schedules — and about delays or lapses in attention for residents with higher dependency. There are also allegations regarding the conduct of clinical leadership cited by a few families; these comments point to uneven clinical-staff competence and to perceived instability in management rather than a uniform facility-wide pattern.

Staff and management impressions are similarly mixed. Many reviewers highlight calm, respectful staff, specific staff members praised by name for being outstanding, and a generally welcoming atmosphere. Others describe turnover, variable staff performance, and a change in management that some families found disruptive. These differences suggest unit-level variation: certain shifts or units (including the small memory-care unit that many described favorably) appear to perform consistently well, while other areas show more inconsistency.

Dining and activities are prominent features. Activity programming is frequently described as creative and engaging, with regular events and transportation available; the community allows pets and facilitates social interaction among residents. Meal service receives praise for a home-cooked feel and pleasant dining spaces, but multiple reviewers cited repetitive menus and limited variety (notably a pattern of rice- and pasta-heavy offerings) and occasional dissatisfaction with meal taste. Some families also reported inconsistent meal-assistance support and raised concerns about extra charges for what they expected to be basic personal-care services.

Taken together, the pattern indicates that Prairie Meadows offers many attributes families seek — attentive staff, an attractive facility, active programming, and private rooms — but also that operational consistency is uneven in some areas critical to dependent residents: bathing and toileting assistance, dining quality and support, and management stability. Prospective residents and families would benefit from targeted questions during a visit: ask about staffing ratios on the intended unit and during different shifts, request the standard schedule for bathing and toileting assistance, clarify fee schedules for personal-care add-ons, sample a meal, meet or speak with clinical leadership, and inquire about the memory-care transition process. These focused checks can help determine whether the strengths described in many reviews align with the specific care needs of a prospective resident.

    About Prairie Meadows Senior Living

Prairie Meadows Senior Living sits in Kasson at 800 5th Ave NW, right by Veterans Memorial Park, where you'll see pretty views of the pond and baseball diamond, and there's a new neighborhood that feels friendly and peaceful around it, and folks around here like the small-town air. The community has 61 apartments and suites, with choices that include studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units, some with private garages and all with features like full-sized kitchens, air conditioning, cable TV, laundry, patios or decks, and private bathrooms, and they do allow cats, dogs, and even fish in the pet-friendly apartments, with parks nearby for walking the dogs. Inside, you'll notice community areas like the Country Pleasures Cafe for starting your morning with coffee, a movie theater for group screenings, a party room, and a bright community room where residents can play bridge, do puzzles, or join sing-alongs. There's a salon and barber shop for haircuts right onsite, and the whole place is smoke-free except for outside, with secure entries and well-lit spaces to help everyone feel safe. Folks get help as needed with medications, bathing, dressing, getting in and out of bed, or going to appointments, and the trained staff stays on duty all day and all night. Prairie Meadows Senior Living covers assisted living, memory care, and respite care, offering packages that change with a resident's needs, including special help for folks with a dementia diagnosis and programs called Dare to Dream, which helps residents set and reach personal goals. Community life stays busy with fitness and balance classes, arts and crafts, Bible study, morning devotions, Catholic Communion, singing, piano music, trips out into town on the "party bus," and dances. Meals come fresh every day from chefs who use ingredients supplied by US Foods, served in a dining hall or at the Country Pleasures Cafe, making sure food's healthy and suits different diets, including helpful picture menus for memory care. Housekeeping and laundry services cut down on chores, and transportation's free for residents going to appointments or events, plus there's garage space and off-street parking. The building's elevator, grab bars, and safety supports help make it easier for folks to get around, and the whole property's laid out for comfort-residents can walk landscaped courtyard paths, relax on a patio, or visit with friends in common areas filled with sunlight. On top of all that, Prairie Meadows Senior Living keeps ties with Mayo Clinic St. Mary's Hospital and has skilled nursing available right on site if someone needs it. Veterans have a dedicated community space and a waived community fee. The place stands licensed by the state and welcomes adults age 55 and older, offering different floor plans so you can find a setup that suits your lifestyle, with single rooms or semi-private options. The management runs things Monday through Friday, 9 to 5, with Lund Solutions managing the website, and Prairie Meadows falls under Odom Health & Wellness. It's a comfortable, welcoming spot where neighbors and staff know each other, and each day brings new chances for folks to stay active, connected, and cared for.
