    Caring staff and great activities

I live here and the staff are caring and excellent - the activities are terrific and the common areas are great. Meals are homecooked and generally good, therapy is on-site five days a week, and it's affordable; my private room is standard with a private bath but the furnishings and maintenance could use attention. Overall I'm very positive about living here.

    About Green Lea Senior Living

Green Lea Senior Living sits at 115 North Lyndale Street in Mabel, Minnesota, right in Fillmore County, and the license holder lives on site, which brings a sense of steady involvement, and it's managed by Ms. Julie Vettleson, who serves as administrator, and the place holds a corporation license with number 124. The facility has 41 skilled nursing beds and no beds set aside for hospice, psychiatric, or behavioral health -- though they do provide hospice care, so folks can stay comfortable if that's needed, and while you're there, the staff provides 24-hour nursing care every day and keeps a solid eye on safety and comfort by making sure help's never far. People get physical, occupational, and speech therapy, plus outpatient therapy, and there's an active rehab plan for short-term care if someone wants to get back on their feet and maybe even get home again, because the care team tries to get everyone to their best level of independence and functioning.

There's a full set of assisted living services right at The Meadows of Mabel, which is a smaller senior care community attached to Green Lea, and you find things like respite care, so caregivers can get a break, and long-term care for folks who plan to stay a while, which helps everyone who lives there settle in without worrying about leaving if care needs change. Green Lea's got memory care for dementia and Alzheimer's, and they work from something called a family-for-life approach, which tries to make relationships last and keeps families in the loop about how their loved ones are doing, and the building's got secure areas to help with safety at all times.

The staff knows their jobs well and includes everything from Registered Nurses and Nurse Educators to Dietary Aides, Activities Directors, Housekeepers, and Maintenance Technicians, which keeps the place running smoothly. Staff is on hand 24 hours a day too, just in case someone needs anything at night. Services include specialized nursing, housekeeping, laundry every week, and maintenance, so residents don't have to handle chores, and meals come mostly from scratch with extra care in preparation, usually served in large dining areas where people can eat together if they'd like.

Social life stays active at Green Lea, with games like Bingo and cards, visits from local musicians, spiritual services, worship, and plenty of programs to keep people engaged. Wellness gets a focus too, since there are activities and therapy services like mobility, balance, neuro-muscular re-education, strength training, and even posture help, all aimed at helping people keep or regain independence. Apartments come as one- or two-bedroom units, each with full kitchens, staying homey and giving everyone some privacy, while staff works hard to keep a warm, comfortable feeling throughout the building.

Overall, Green Lea Senior Living aims to make life easier and better for older adults while respecting their privacy and needs, and keeps everything steady and simple with a focus on helping folks feel safe, cared for, and at home as they age.
