    Beautiful attentive care and amenities

I moved my mom here and I'm very satisfied - the building is beautiful, clean and hotel-like with great dining, lots of activities, and helpful amenities (salon, therapy, chapel, library). The staff from leadership to nursing, maintenance and front desk are warm, attentive and responsive, and the memory-care team is especially strong. I would confidently recommend this community to other families.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Willows Landing is frequently described as a modern, well-maintained senior living community with hotel-like finishes, attractive common spaces, and a range of on-site amenities. Reviewers consistently highlight the facility’s cleanliness, natural light, screened balconies/river views, and thoughtfully designed public areas (courtyard, pub, chapel, library, beauty shop). Many families and residents praise the warm, community-oriented atmosphere and the visible engagement of staff and leadership.

Care and staff: The clinical team and front-line caregivers receive repeated positive comments for compassion, attentiveness, and clinical competence. Registered nurses and licensed nurses are cited as knowledgeable, and reviewers describe good coordination of hospice and end-of-life care when needed. At the same time, there are notes of variability: some families experienced gaps in communication during admissions or clinical changes, and a few reviewers described early staffing absences or difficulty getting consistent answers from touring staff. These patterns suggest generally strong caregiving with occasional lapses in continuity or communication that families should clarify during the touring and contracting process.

Dining and activities: Dining receives favorable remarks for quality, portioning, and an engaged culinary staff; several reviewers called out a skilled chef and enjoyable meals and treats. The activities program is broad and active — social events, music, aerobics, games, outings, and regular transportation are commonly mentioned — and the community supports family events and seasonal celebrations. Some residents in higher-decline stages or with limited mobility reported difficulty participating fully in group activities, indicating a potential need to assess individual social access and unit-level programming when considering placement.

Facilities and services: The property offers a comprehensive amenity set, including on-site therapy, a salon, a pub, chapel, and multiple communal spaces, alongside housekeeping and maintenance services. Apartment types vary: many units have full kitchens and washer/dryer options, while memory-care rooms may be bed-sit style without kitchens; several reviewers called the apartments small and suggested potential space constraints for certain furniture or equipment. Operational details such as extra charges for laundry/trash, narrow laundry-room layouts, and the absence of automatic doors in some areas were also noted as practical limitations to review prior to move-in.

Management, admission, and financial patterns: Leadership and many administrative staff receive positive mentions for responsiveness and personal engagement. However, reviewers also raised concerns about the admission process and contractual/financial clarity. Specific concerns include a lengthy admission timeline, unclear or changing room-hold and private-pay policies, and unexpected additional fees. A small number of reviewers raised stronger allegations about financial handling and room availability; prospective residents should request explicit written details of bed-hold, refund, and fee policies and confirm them in the contract.

Who this is best for and recommended next steps: Willows Landing appears well suited for residents seeking a clean, active, and amenity-rich environment with strong dementia-care programming and supportive end-of-life coordination. Prospective residents and families should verify unit sizes and layouts against their furniture and care needs, confirm the level of clinical services available for higher-acuity needs, and review financial and room-hold terms carefully. During a visit, ask for specific examples of staff continuity, how clinical incidents and family communication are handled, and a clear, written summary of all potential additional service fees.

    About Willows Landing

Willows Landing sits in a quiet, private area of Monticello, close to parks and a forested neighborhood, where residents can enjoy peace among trees but still get to community activities and weekly outings, because the staff takes folks on trips and supports lots of social programs that help people meet and spend time together, and the place itself has a warm, inviting feel, especially because staff get to know each person and look after them with respect and care. The building is a modern four-story property, with options for independent living, assisted living, memory care, and respite care, and the apartments have full-sized kitchenettes, private bathrooms, air conditioning, cable TV, and even wood floors and energy-efficient appliances like refrigerators and microwaves, so people can feel comfortable and keep a bit of their own daily habits, and there are one- or two-bedroom layouts for different needs, with pet-friendly options for cats and dogs. Residents get meals in a dining room where the culinary program uses fresh ingredients, and there's a private dining room for special gatherings, plus a pub and library, and places like a chapel for spiritual visits, a media room, a fitness and wellness center for mobility and exercise classes, and community spaces for cards, board games, music, and arts and crafts. Memory care at Willows Landing helps people with Alzheimer's and dementia by keeping a secure and safe environment, offering structured programs to encourage friendships, and using therapies to help reduce confusion and wandering, with staff always available day and night, and the whole place has safety features like grab bars and emergency response systems. Assisted living services help with daily needs such as bathing, dressing, taking medications, and moving around, and the team helps with things like laundry, housekeeping, and trash pick-up, while independent living is also available for those who want an active, maintenance-free life with some support on hand. Residents can get wellness checks, health care coordination with places like CentraCare Health and Maple Grove Hospital, transportation for errands and medical visits, and there's always staff ready to check in on people at any hour. Willows Landing has underground heated parking, community lounges, a chapel and meditation room, and comfortable areas where neighbors can relax or join in activity programs-so the setup really tries to make it easy for seniors to have a pleasant, social experience, with choices and assistance balanced together.
