I placed a family member here and have been very pleased. The facility is clean, welcoming, and Covid-free; the compassionate CNAs, nurses, DON and administration know residents personally and go above and beyond, the activities program is outstanding, and therapy restored mobility. I recommend this warm, family-like community - a great choice with only minor room for improvement.

Summary of reviews
Overall impression
Indianola Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center is consistently described as a facility with a strong caregiving culture, competent clinical staff, and an active resident life program. Reviewers emphasize compassionate CNAs and nurses, personalized involvement from leadership (including a DON who knows residents by name), and a family-like atmosphere. The facility is praised for its clean appearance, infection-control practices, and visible investments in security and visitor-tracking technology.
Care quality and clinical services
Families and former residents frequently praise the skilled nursing and rehabilitation services. Physical and occupational therapy are highlighted for restoring mobility and improving outcomes for residents. Many comments reflect staff who go beyond routine duties to meet individual needs; administration and long-time nurses are described as accessible and engaged. However, there are recurring concerns about inconsistent responsiveness to family calls and delays in attending to resident needs at times, which suggests variability in how care is delivered across shifts or units.
Staff, culture, and management
The facility receives strong marks for staff professionalism, courtesy, and a positive workplace culture. Reviewers note pride among employees and an activities team that is both creative and community-oriented. Admissions personnel receive particular praise for being helpful and reassuring during transitions. Management is credited with accreditation, awards, and active hiring, which families interpret as signs of institutional commitment. At the same time, reviewers identify communication gaps between families and staff, and some specifically cite unreliable telephone systems that complicate coordination and follow-up.
Dining, activities, and environment
Dining experience is frequently described as good, with attentive food-service workers and a pleasant dining atmosphere. The activities program is a notable strength: reviewers describe lively decorations, frequent events, community involvement, and staff (named activity directors) who engender resident engagement and satisfaction. The facility is characterized as clean, comfortable, and homelike, with welcoming common areas and a sense of community among residents and visitors.
Notable patterns and recommendations for visitors
A clear pattern emerges of generally high satisfaction with clinical care, therapy, and activities, paired with occasional operational weaknesses in communication and consistency of basic personal care (notably bathing schedules and meal-assistance monitoring). Prospective residents and families may wish to verify the facility's current communication protocols (phone reliability, nurse-call response times), ask about staffing levels across shifts, and review meal- and bathing schedules during a tour. Observing a visit, asking for recent examples of care coordination, and confirming who the point contacts are for family updates can help assess whether the facility’s strong clinical and cultural attributes align with an individual resident’s needs.

About Indianola Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center
Indianola Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center sits in Indianola, Mississippi, and it's a small place where folks get both short-term rehab and long-term care, and the staff work round the clock with nurses, CNAs, therapists, and other medical professionals on hand day and night, so there's always someone nearby to help out whether it's with regular care or something urgent, and they've put a lot into making the place safe, clean, and comfortable, which shows in their very high inspection rating and that recent A+ grade, plus there's only been one minor deficiency on their last inspection, and no major complaints from residents for the whole year, which says a lot about how things run there. They accept Medicare and Medicaid, and have a focus on personalized care plans-so each person gets what they actually need rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, and families can join in too with a Family Council while residents have their own say through a Resident Council, which helps keep everyone involved in community decisions and goings-on, and they also have a history of celebrating achievements, whether that's recovering movement or reaching special milestones.
People can get all sorts of specialized services, like speech therapy, occupational and physical therapy, cardiac therapy, diabetes management, IV antibiotics, wound care, respiratory and recreational therapy, pain management, palliative and hospice care, bariatric and orthopedic rehab, along with care for folks with memory troubles like Alzheimer's. The center welcomes pets, which is nice for folks who can't imagine life without their furry companions, and there's always 24/7 nursing care, so help is never far off no matter the hour, plus they even offer telemedicine for when a specialist is needed but can't be on site right away. Admission is open all day and night, and the environment is kept friendly and family-oriented, with staff taking pride in treating people with respect and love, and there's a focus on creating a home-like atmosphere that doesn't feel too much like a hospital, even for those needing help with wound care or more advanced rehab, including people recovering from strokes or amputations. The facility got recognized with a Silver AHCA/NCAL national quality award, and while the buildings and rooms are pretty straightforward, they're set up for people getting help with standing or moving, and the team's got plenty of experience handling all sorts of situations, from daily rehab needs to full Alzheimer's support. Families and residents stay involved in the decisions, pets can join, and the staff are there day and night, focused on helping folks not just stay safe but get stronger if they can, and keep the place as comfortable and homey as possible.
