    Warm attentive staff, clean facility

I'm very satisfied with this nursing home - the staff are warm, caring, and attentive (they even learned sign language for my mother), the facility is clean and welcoming, and residents enjoy lots of activities, weekly church services, and vegetarian meal options. I feel well cared for and comfortable here and would recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Mountain View Healthcare elicits a mixed but instructive picture. Many comments highlight strong, person-focused caregiving: nurses, medication technicians, aides, and activities staff receive repeated praise for being compassionate, helpful, and attentive to resident preferences. Reviewers describe an active, engaging activities program (including weekly spiritual services), meal service that accommodates dietary preferences such as vegetarian options, and an interior that is generally well maintained and attractive. For some families the facility’s apartment-style options and amenities contribute positively to quality of life.

Care quality appears uneven. Several families reported positive hands-on care and staff who learned resident-specific needs, but others described gaps in responsiveness, particularly between staff shifts and during post-acute periods. There are specific concerns about how post-surgical readmission and follow-up care are managed, and some reviewers indicated that hospice or outside providers served as primary sources of clinical clarity in those situations. Overall, the facility shows strengths in direct caregiving but also displays variability in continuity of clinical oversight.

Staff and culture comments are similarly bifurcated. Many reviewers emphasize friendly, welcoming employees and a supportive resident community; examples include staff learning sign language and caregivers who develop rapport with residents. However, there are recurring concerns about administrative conduct and communication tone. Families referenced instances of adversarial interactions with administrative personnel and at least one report of unprofessional behavior by a social-work staff member. These observations point to unevenness in family engagement and complaint resolution practices.

Dining and activities are cited as positive contributors to daily life. Reviewers noted accommodating meal service and an active schedule of programs that residents find uplifting. Activities and spiritual services are strengths that appear to support social connection and resident satisfaction.

Facility maintenance and safety present mixed signals. While many describe a clean, well-kept environment without institutional odors, other comments raise sanitation and odor-control concerns in particular areas and at times. There are also reports indicating security vulnerabilities for personal items, which suggests a need for clearer property-safeguarding processes. Staffing levels were described as generally hardworking but occasionally insufficient, which reviewers linked to delayed checks and inconsistent attention.

Management and operational patterns stand out as areas for improvement. Reviewers describe inconsistent handoffs between shifts, restrictive policies regarding leaving the property, and uneven post-acute care protocols. These operational traits appear to affect family trust and perceived transparency. Prospective residents and families would benefit from direct inquiry about shift communication practices, post-surgery/readmission procedures, security measures for personal belongings, and the facility’s approach to family communication and conflict resolution.

In summary, Mountain View Healthcare demonstrates notable strengths in resident engagement, caregiving compassion, activities, and on-site amenities, balanced against operational inconsistencies in communication, sanitation control in specific areas, staffing cadence, security, and administrative responsiveness. An on-site visit focused on clinical handover procedures, staffing patterns, security protocols, and sample dining/activities experiences is recommended to assess how the facility’s strengths align with an individual’s needs.
