    Caring community with excellent transitions

I moved my mom here and we're very pleased. The staff are genuinely caring and proactive, nurses respectful, and the community is clean, beautiful, and home-like. Meals (with cooking option), activities, transportation and PT are excellent, and they offer smooth transitions from independent to assisted to nursing/memory care. It's given us real peace of mind-excellent care, though not inexpensive.

    Summary of reviews

Rolla Presbyterian Manor presents as a three-level senior community offering independent living, assisted living, and nursing care. Strengths consistently mentioned include a caring, friendly staff; clean, well-maintained common areas; and a range of services that support transitions between levels of care. Families and residents commonly cite the facility's memory-care program and rehabilitation/physical-therapy services as effective, and many describe meaningful improvement in recovery or stabilization after moving in. The campus environment, including a courtyard and nearby park, plus active programming such as trips and gardening, contributes to a home-like atmosphere for residents.

Staff performance is a clear positive in most accounts: caregivers, nurses, and drivers are frequently characterized as respectful, proactive, and attentive. The facility offers scheduled transportation, meal service with dining options, and the ability for some residents to cook for themselves. These operational features, together with monitored transitions between care levels, are useful for families seeking continuity of services in one provider.

At the same time, reviews indicate several operational areas that prospective residents should evaluate. Clinical experience appears uneven: while memory care and rehabilitation receive favorable remarks, quality in the skilled-nursing area seems variable. Several accounts point to staffing shortages and inconsistent staff availability that can affect timeliness of care. Families have also described gaps in clinical communication and concerns about confidentiality and discharge planning; these suggest opportunities to clarify policies and improve family updates.

There are some notable service and facility-level limitations. A restrictive approach to certain medical devices (for example, policies affecting respiratory equipment) has been raised as an access issue. Hospice care is not available on-site, which may affect end-of-life planning. Independent-living units are described as older and relatively small in some parts of the campus, although they have been updated in places. The location adjacent to a creek introduces a flood risk that should be considered. Cost sensitivity is another consideration: pricing has been described as relatively high by some families.

For prospective residents and families, recommended topics for a visit and discussion include: current staffing levels and turnover, oversight and staffing in the skilled-nursing unit, policies on medical devices and emergency respiratory equipment, availability and coordination with hospice or palliative providers, unit sizes and recent upgrades in independent living, and campus flood-mitigation measures. Reviewing contract terms and asking for examples of family communication procedures will help assess whether the facility’s operational practices align with individual care needs and expectations.

    About Rolla Presbyterian Manor

Rolla Presbyterian Manor sits on a peaceful 8-acre campus full of mature trees and offers a variety of living options including independent living, assisted living, memory care, long-term care, and short-term rehab called PATH®. The community gives residents different suites to choose from, like the Bluejay studio and The Eagle and The Dove suites, and there are also one- and two-bedroom cottage homes for more independent living. Residents get meals, help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, and taking their medicine, and can join a structured program of activities, outings, field trips, wellness and fitness classes, movie nights, and events in shared indoor and outdoor common spaces. The place encourages making friends through social and educational programs and has devotional services offsite. There's a dining room, library, garden, courtyard, walking paths, picnic shelters, a barber and salon, sitting areas, and a community room. Meals, housekeeping, WiFi, and 24-hour supervision are all included, as is a 24-hour call system for emergencies.

The Manor has skilled nursing care and memory care for people with Alzheimer's or dementia, offering personalized care plans, secure living spaces, and cognitive engagement activities. There are nurses on staff with 24-hour coverage, and in-house therapy and rehab services are readily available. The community supports Medicaid and Medicare payments, has a few rental or refund plan options, and is licensed as a continuing care retirement community, which means residents can move between levels of care as their health changes, all without leaving the campus. Residents can own pets here and have access to general transportation. This non-profit, faith-based community, owned by Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America®, has focused on serving older adults with Christian values for more than 50 years in the 65401 area.

Hospital and healthcare partnerships help maintain a high standard of care with infection and accident ratings measured and published. The Manor promotes a maintenance-free lifestyle for adults aged 55 and up and keeps up a busy calendar with community activities, cultural and educational opportunities, outings, group programs, and worship services. There are also specialized staff for dementia care, nurse communications, and medication management, and overall the place is known for being diverse, welcoming, and attentive to both the physical and social needs of residents.
