    Small, clean facility; attentive staff

I placed my mom here and have been very pleased. The small, clean facility is close to home, reasonably priced with waivers, and feels like good value. Staff and caregivers (including the owner) are friendly and attentive 24/7; she gets daily baths and loves the meals. Her large furnished room with a patio can be rearranged, and there are puzzles, games, TV and a piano for quiet activities.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression is mixed: families and visitors often cite warm, attentive caregiving and a small, home-like setting, but there are recurring operational and management concerns that prospective residents should evaluate closely.

Care and staff: Many accounts emphasize compassionate caregivers, a visible staff presence around the clock, and routine personal-care assistance such as daily bathing. Staff are frequently described as friendly and engaged; the owner is often present on site. At the same time, reviewers raised substantive concerns about clinical controls — specifically medication management and safe transfer practices — and about delays in responsiveness when staff are busy. These concerns suggest variability in day-to-day clinical reliability despite generally positive interpersonal interactions.

Dining and activities: Several people found the meals appealing and some residents said they enjoy the food, but there are comments about inconsistent nutrition planning and a lack of structured dietary oversight. Activity programming appears limited: typical offerings include puzzles, games, television and piano, but organized group activities or a robust calendar of events were not consistently observed. Prospective residents who prioritize active social programming should confirm current schedules during a visit.

Facilities: The home-like building is small, with large, furnished resident rooms that can be personalized and a usable outdoor patio. Common areas are described as clean. The property is older and may have minor maintenance needs, which is consistent with a smaller residential-style facility rather than a newer institutional campus.

Management and operations: The most significant pattern in the reviews relates to administrative and management practices. Concerns include inconsistent documentation and record-keeping, weak family communication and update practices, and questions about transparency and accountability. There are also claims of missing personal items and issues with safeguarding resident belongings; given the seriousness of those claims, families should seek clarity on property-inventory procedures and security measures. A few reviewers described instances that they felt involved withholding information or poorly documented incidents; this underscores the importance of asking for written policies on incident reporting, medication administration, and transfers.

Notable patterns and recommendation: The facility appears to deliver a familiar, caring environment with strengths in day-to-day hands-on caregiving and affordability. However, recurring management and operational gaps — around documentation, communication, medication and transfer safety, and property safeguarding — temper those strengths. Prospective residents and families should tour the site, observe staff–resident interactions, request documentation on staffing ratios and clinical protocols, review the activity calendar and meal plans, and ask about procedures for protecting personal belongings before making a placement decision.

    About Evergreen Residence

Evergreen Residence sits at 1305 Kings Ct in Reno, Nevada, in the Old Northwest - West University area, surrounded by nearby pharmacies like Sav-On Drugs, Albertsons Pharmacy, Dons Pharmacy, Walgreens, and Campus Pharmacy, with Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center less than a mile away, and you'll find about 29,000 people living in the zip code 89503, so there's plenty going on all around. Evergreen Residence is a Residential Care Home licensed under #3275-AGC-21, with an 8-bed capacity and offers assisted living, independent living, memory care, and continuing care services for those who need help with daily life or special health needs. The facility partners with hospice, home health, and home care services, which means folks who live there can get extra support when health needs change or grow more serious. There's a big focus on comfort and safety, with shared and private rooms, some furnished and some with a kitchenette, plus wheelchair accessibility and an emergency alert system. Residents get personalized care plans and daily help with things like bathing, dressing, meal preparation, mobility, and medication management, with 24-hour supervision, and staff are encouraged to present professional communication, though sometimes families have felt left out of the loop about their loved one's health updates.

Meals are prepared on site with special diets in mind, including options for allergies and diabetes, and dining happens in a community setting, where people can find a bit of conversation or just enjoy a warm meal, and there's a garden, walking paths, and scheduled movie nights, along with housekeeping, laundry, transportation, and parking provided. It's a cozy place, with just 8 units, which gives it an intimate feel and allows for owner involvement in the day-to-day running of things, and the staff tries to offer personal attention, though some have raised concerns over disorganized record keeping, coaching staff on what to say to families, and belongings, including keepsakes or medical equipment, going missing after residents pass. Sometimes, there's been trouble with staff moving residents against doctor's orders, which is something to talk about if considering a stay. The facility accepts pets, so animals can stay with their owners, and residents can join in planned activities, movie nights, and socialize, with options for supportive care if someone's health condition or disability requires it. Evergreen Residence has received community awards for meals and friendliness and is listed on platforms like A Place For Mom, where seniors and their families can read reviews and see more information, and offers scheduled tours for those who want to see everything in person before making a decision. The facility has a brochure you can download and an online form for more details or tour scheduling, though some families have reported a lack of updates after admission. Owner and staff try to keep things clean and welcoming, and there's always someone around to offer help, though as with any place, it's wise to consider both the good parts and the areas where things haven't always gone smoothly.
