    Bright spotless community, attentive staff

I'm very pleased with this bright, new community - spotless rooms, beautiful boardwalk-themed common areas, and plenty of activities (piano, mini-golf, snack bar). The staff are warm, professional, and attentive (Shantay and Nurse George stood out), rehab and social services were effective, and the grounds and amenities create a welcoming, country-club atmosphere. Overall a very well-run community I would recommend.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impressions of Seashore Gardens Living Center are mixed but lean toward positive when considering facility quality and rehabilitation outcomes. The campus is frequently described as clean, bright, and well maintained, with many reviewers praising recent upgrades, an Atlantic City boardwalk–themed community room, an aviary, attractive grounds, and retail-style amenities such as a snack bar and flower shop. Private and adequately sized rooms are available, and some rooms include kitchenettes; memory-care units are characterized as adequate but without room kitchenettes.

Clinical and rehabilitative services earn consistent positive remarks. Reviewers commonly highlight effective physical and occupational therapy programs that led to measurable improvement, plus supportive social-services assistance for coordinating home care and Medicaid. Memory-care staff are often described as attentive and respectful. At the same time, reviewers describe variability in day-to-day clinical care and staff conduct — some families report consistently compassionate, professional nurses and aides, while others describe uneven responsiveness and periods where staffing appeared stretched.

Dining and activities present a mixed picture. The facility offers a range of social programming, musical gatherings, parties, outdoor mini-golf, and other recreation that contribute to a convivial atmosphere; reviewers often describe residents as engaged and socially connected. However, several accounts point to limited activity options outside of therapy blocks (downtime that can default to television) and variability in the quality and quantity of meals, with some finding food nourishing but unremarkable and others noting disappointing portions or menu monotony. Kosher meal options are available, which is an important amenity for some residents but was noted as a limiting factor for others.

Operational concerns center on staffing, maintenance, and cost. Multiple reviewers referenced periods of understaffing or overworked personnel, with consequences such as delays in attending to residents and uneven service continuity; some attributed these issues to a recent change in ownership and transitional staffing pressures. Maintenance issues, including malfunctioning equipment or delayed repairs, were noted intermittently. Cost and affordability are recurring themes: while many families would recommend the facility for its amenities and care, several also flagged high prices as a barrier.

In summary, Seashore Gardens presents strong physical assets and rehabilitation capability, a clean and engaging campus, and many examples of caring, professional staff. Prospective residents and families should weigh those strengths against variability in staffing and day-to-day service execution, maintenance follow-through, meal consistency, and cost. A visit focused on current staffing levels, recent maintenance records, meal samples, and a review of activity schedules — along with questions about post-ownership operational changes — would help determine whether the facility’s typical daily experience matches a particular family’s priorities.

    About Seashore Gardens Living Center

Seashore Gardens Living Center stands as a large, non-profit nursing home and Continuing Care Retirement Community that's been part of the Absecon, New Jersey area for decades, going back to when Rabbi David Weis started helping folks there in 1988, so right away folks see it's got some roots and a history of reaching out to seniors from all backgrounds, religions, and walks of life, and over the years they've really tried to look after residents at different stages of aging, so you'll find independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care for those with Alzheimer's and dementia, respite care, and options for folks who want to age in place and keep adjusting their level of help as their needs change. The Living Center features rooms that come furnished, a steady team of registered staff, and senior activity programs that include everything from arts and movie nights to outdoor walking paths, a barber and salon for some personal grooming, and special attention to dietary needs with meals made in-house, even if someone's got diabetes or allergies, and the team sticks close to making sure everyone gets medication right and help with personal care like bathing, dressing, or moving around, and they've got a 24-hour call system for urgent needs.

Folks needing medical support can get skilled nursing care, wound care, pain management, rehab, and even therapy like speech or occupational, plus there's podiatry and help with transportation for healthcare appointments or moving in, and specialized memory care comes with secure areas, routines, and activities built for people with memory loss. They've got special programs running all the time, including memory-enhancing activities and recreational therapy, and things like housekeeper services, community gardens, and family or resident councils, so residents and families get a voice. There are Respite Care options for short stays, and Hospice Care for later stages of illness. The place gets recognized for its kind, compassionate care, winning local awards, including Best Nursing Home in Absecon in 2021 and "Best of the Press Gold" for five years running, and inspection reports gave them an overall A- with particular praise on their standards, keeping their occupancy around 80%, which gives some room for new residents every now and then. The place is inclusive, supports people with different needs and backgrounds, has strong connections with local programs like Mosaic, and likes to host things like health walks, arts programs, or a community ball, all aimed at making life a bit richer for everyone living there. The Living Center works with Medicare and Medicaid, welcomes people needing long-term or short-term care, and tries to keep a warm, secure feeling while letting residents stay as independent as possible for as long as they can. Their aim is to give support that fits each resident's needs, whether it's managing medication, getting some extra help with daily life, or just being able to sit quietly out in the garden after a group event.
